DragonByte Tech 02-22-2013 10:16 PM

Hi everyone,

Today brings version 2.0.6 of Threadmins and Group Moderators which adds in some minor improvements.

A number of users had highlighted the challenge of clearly identifying the user you are adding permissions for in the Admin Control Panel, as well as limiting the number of results returned when searching for threads. These have been addressed in this version.

Also an addition to the Administrative menu on the showthread pages allows admins to add other users to the thread, useful if a user hasn't already posted in the thread.

The full changelog is as follows:

Feature: Multiple Pages for Threadmins and Group Admins in the ACP when required.
Feature: Details of search displayed including which user permissions are being added to for Threadmins and Group Admins in the ACP.
Feature: Add Threadmins from the Administrative menu on the showthread page.
Feature: Added Usergroup permissions for access to managing Threadmins from the front end.
Changed the following files:
/dbtech/userthreads/includes/class_core.php
/dbtech/userthreads/actions/admin/threadadmins.php
/dbtech/userthreads/actions/threadadmin.php
/dbtech/userthreads_pro/admin/groupadmins.php
/includes/xml/bitfield_dbtech_userthreads.xml
/userthreads.php
Added the following files:
/dbtech/userthreads_pro/hooks/showthread_complete.php
/dbtech/userthreads_pro/hooks/threadmanage_action_switch.php
Added the following phrases:
dbtech_userthreads_add_threadmin
dbtech_userthreads_selecting_user
dbtech_userthreads_ismanager

If you like the product you can show your support by nominating it for mod of the month here, User Threads/Threadmins and Group Moderators - vBulletin.org Forum and also please rate it to help cancel out the users who 1 star our mods.

DragonByte Tech 02-24-2013 06:28 PM

Updated the files slightly to fix an issue with permissions in some instances. Download the latest version and reupload the files to apply the fix. There is no need to run the XML unless upgrading from a version earlier than 2.0.6.

wildheart 02-26-2013 12:06 PM

I installed it on vb 4.2.0 patch 3 and everybody gets an error when they click on a thread. After disabling the product we can go into threads again.

Error: Warning: require([path]/dbtech/userthreads_pro/hooks/showthread_complete.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/showthread.php(2387) : eval()'d code on line 4

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/reptilep/public_html/forums/dbtech/userthreads_pro/hooks/showthread_complete.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/reptilep/public_html/forums/showthread.php(2387) : eval()'d code on line 4

wildheart 02-27-2013 06:01 AM

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled - still the same error?

DragonByte Tech 02-27-2013 04:46 PM

Thanks for the information wildheart, will check into it now.

Matt

DragonByte Tech 02-27-2013 04:54 PM

This should be sorted now. It will mean redownloading the files and reimporting the XML file only.

Let me know if you have any more issues and thanks for the bug report. :)

Matt

wildheart 02-28-2013 04:30 AM

Thank you it is working perfectly now. I will let you know if it does not function as it should but I trust it will.

wildheart 02-28-2013 06:04 AM

I love that it is per user as well, that makes it so easy! Thanks a ton for a great mod!

Not yet. I'll take a look today to see if there is a way of making that work and let you know whether it's viable. :)

I am getting an error when uploading the XML file via plug-ins. I have uploaded all of the documents to my server to the appropriate folder and verified they were uploaded properly.

I then get a Time out screen when attempting to upload the product-dbtech_userthreads.xml

I am able to go into: Settings > Options >DragonByte Tech: Threadmins and Group Moderators - General Settings

However that is the only menu that shows up. I will continue trying to re-install until there is a response, thank you

Do you run on a shared server? It could be that there is too short a time on the PHP time out and I've know shared servers time out if they haven't been able to process the file quickly enough.

You could try navigating direct to the main AdminCP folder file for Threadmins to check that it has uploaded where it expects. That would be the ACP location plus /userthreads.php.

You might want to try uploading the XML to a folder on the server and then importing it from there and see if that helps.

If you want me to take a look after trying these suggestions, I'll be glad to. Just PM me the URL and account details (a new account if possible with full admin permissions) and I'll take a look. If you could verify for me that you have a database backup before I started doing anything that would be ideal. :)

I attempted to use that link and it says "
Sorry, you don't have permission to access the administrative controls on this page.

If you need to access this page, ask your lead administrator to enable your permissions for this page using the Administrator Permissions section of the control panel.
"

Do I need to have the install admin powers to view this mod?

Thank you for the response also

DragonByte Tech 03-27-2013 07:58 PM

I assume you aren't a Super Admin on the site? Super Admins should have permissions to access it, though each admin can have permissions to control the Threadmins section.

I don't mind taking a look if you want me to.

Hi everyone,

Released a bug fix (v2.0.8) for Threadmins and Group Moderators which resolves an issue with Super Moderators sometimes being unable to edit users posts who belong to usergroups that are immune. This fix includes the option to globally disable or enable Super Moderators ability to override. There is also an improvement in the descriptions of the different moderator permissions for Threadmins and Group Admins. These descriptions are pulled from vBulletin's own descriptions to ensure clarity on what they do.

Fixed: Super Moderators unable to moderate users belonging to usergroups with Immunity.
Fixed: Group Moderator permissions not updating when adding or updating a moderator's usergroups.
Added: Added Explanations of all moderator permissions.

Changed the following files:
/dbtech/userthreads/includes/class_core.php
/dbtech/userthreads/hooks/can_moderate_forum.php
/dbtech/userthreads/actions/admin/threadadmins.php
/dbtech/userthreads_pro/actions/admin/groupadmins.php

Added the following files:
/dbtech/userthreads/hooks/admin_moderator_save.php

Thanks as always to everyone for their feedback and suggestions.

Is there a way that I can allow several people to edit a particular thread? Whenever I do it, it shows the admin options on the screen but when the user tries to use them they get the error that they have "insufficient privileges".

DragonByte Tech 07-30-2013 03:02 PM

I'll walk you through how things should work, and we can then where the problem is. :)

In the Admin Control Panel, go to DBTech - Threadmins and select Thread Admins from the list.

When the page loads enter the Thread ID of the one you want to assign permissions to, for example thread 53. The option is described as: Enter the thread ID of the specific thread you want to find.

Beneath that is the option described as: Select the username of the user you want to check or add thread admin permissions to. Enter the username of the user you want to give the permissions to.

When you click on Show the page will load only that thread.

You can then select using the checkbox which permissions you want to allow. Effectively you need to select Edit Posts for a user to really be able to make use of the other options.

Once you've saved the permissions, test if the user can make the edits they want.

If you still have a no permission error, can you let me know the answers to the following questions:

Does the user normally have some sort of moderator permissions (even if in another forum)?
What action causes the no permission, for example, editing via AJAX or Advanced editing?
What version of vB are you using, and are you sure you have the very latest version of the mod uploaded to the server?

Thanks for posting the problem, and I'm sure we'll figure out a solution. If you are still having issues, sending me a PM with the details of an Admin account on your site (and the site domain) would help me trace down the issue.

Just a bug I'm having with this plugin,

When a Usergroup Leader accepts a usergroup join request - it does not give that individual the moderator access when they are accepted. It only works when I save their profile via AdminCP.

Will this be fixed anytime soon?

Thanks.

DragonByte Tech 08-07-2013 06:21 PM

In the Pro version there is a cron job that runs immediately after the promotions check is done that will (should) catch the join requests, but for the Lite version there is a Maintenance tool (Threadmins in the ACP and Maintenance) called Group Moderators - Check Users in Usergroups. Running that should pick up any missing moderator permissions.

In the next update I'll have a look at seeing if we can pick up the join requests normally. Not sure on an eta for it atm as I'm completing another project before I can give my attention to Threadmins again. :)

Thanks for picking up this issue, we really appreciate the feedback from the users. :)

Charles_1 10-06-2013 10:42 AM

This is very useful, but it looks like "Thread Admins" (= permissions for specific thread) doesn't work with attachments. If I set all manage options for author of specific topic, he can edit posts in that thread for unlimited amount of time, open/close thread and so on, but he is not able to use attachments for existing posts in this thread after period of time, which is set for all users in general (Message Posting and Editing Options -> Time Limit on Editing of Posts).

Please, is it possible to modify this that user would be able to use attachments indefinitely in whole thread, if he is able to edit its posts thanks to "Thread Admins"?

I am using vBulletin 4.2.1

DragonByte Tech 10-06-2013 02:13 PM

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Is the problem that the attachments are disappearing if not used in a post or thread? :)

Matt

Charles_1 10-06-2013 02:29 PM

Existing attachments are fine, but if that user click in editor on button to manage attachments (icon in the top of editor or text button below), new window will appear with standard error message, that he doesn't have permission to access that page. So he is able to edit posts in that thread indefinitely, but he is not able to use/edit attachments in that thread indefinitely.

DragonByte Tech 10-06-2013 03:00 PM

Thanks for explaining. :)

Just to double check, you've added permissions to Moderate Attachments for the specific thread in action?

If you want to PM me a test login account I can take a look and see what the situation is. :)

Matt

Charles_1 10-06-2013 03:18 PM

Yes, I checked all checkboxes for that user for that thread:

Edit Posts, Open/Close, Edit Threads, Manage Threads, Moderate Posts, Moderate Attachments, Edit Polls.

But "Moderate Attachments" is here only for moderation purpose, which is not in use in our forum, it is also in explanation of this checkbox:

"If attachment moderation is enabled in this moderator's forum, this permission will allow this moderator to approve attachments awaiting moderation."

I tried it with 2 different users just to be sure.

If I use "User Threads", which is based on whole sections and usergroups, then indefinitely managing of attachments is working fine. but not for "Thread Admins".

DragonByte Tech 10-06-2013 04:58 PM

Thanks Charles_1 for confirming that. I'll have a look when I get a few spare mins to see what might be the issue. The tooltip you quoted is the default vB one, though what it applies to in Threadmins is that the Thread Admins have moderator permissions within that thread, meaning that they should be able to adjust and moderate the attachments of any post.

I'm not sure why it's misbehaving atm, will let you know what I find. :)

Update

Hotfix: PHP 5.4 Compatibility fixes

This does not guarantee the mod is error free on PHP 5.4, but it will take care of the reported errors. Thank you all for your reports :)

Hi everyone,

We have a Patch Level update for Threadmins and Group Moderators (v2.0.9 PL1). Thanks to Ptah we were able to trace some permissions issues with some of the administrative tools for the Threadmins part of the mod.

Bug Fixes And Issue Fixes:
Fixed: Threadmins no permission error when using Administrative Tools in a thread.

Barcham 03-05-2014 09:20 PM

I just installed this and think it will be very useful in a number of different threads. Part of my forum contains sports threads and sometimes someone will start a thread only for fans of a particular team. Of course, almost immediately other members come in and start to trash the team the thread was made to support. Now with this, I can give the thread starter control over his thread and take the headache away from the moderators. :D

If I could make one addition to this mod, it would be to grant the ability to ban a member from the thread in the Threadmin part of the mod.

DragonByte Tech 03-06-2014 05:31 AM

Sounds quite cool. Will add it into the mix for the next major update. :)

You need to use the Threadmins part of the mod, and find the thread 123456 and list the user 111222 so it will load the permissions of that thread for that user. Does that help?

ka81 04-22-2014 05:00 PM

No, because I don;t even understand where to look....
so I'm in thread, i click on drop-down menu Administrative where the last item is " Remove Redirects" and nothing about Threadmins...

Enabling this for a usergroup will allow them to control Threadmins from the front end of the forum. - Yes
that's done but still no result.

p.s. by the way - I got there only 1 item - Is Manager !!! no any other!! :(

DragonByte Tech 05-26-2014 08:46 AM

You should have access via the Admin Control Panel. You have access either as a Super Admin or if your user account has Admin permissions for Classifieds.

If you don't have those, then it sounds like the product file hasn't been installed correctly.

PS

Sorry for the delay, only just found you'd messaged here... seems to have been a delay in me getting the notification.

After installing the latest update my forum home page becomes blank and will no longer load. The XML also changes the name to "Pro" on the back end, if that is important at all.
