4.2.1

It says in the ACP "If yes, this changes the copyright footer to "Site powered by vBulletin Mods & Addons from DragonByte Technologies Software (Details)" but ours doesn't chant when it's set to yes or no.

ozzy47 08-28-2013 02:17 AM

Do you have any caching systems installed, if so clear them. Also try a hard refresh, Ctrl + F5 and maybe clear your cookies.

I don't know, I don't think so.

Tried already. No joy.

ozzy47 08-28-2013 02:30 AM

Did you follow all the instructions in the Readme file that was supplied in the zip?

/*================================================= =====================*\
|| Table of contents ||
|| 1. Requirements ||
|| 2. First Time Installation / Upgrade ||
\*================================================ ======================*/

/*================================================= =====================*\
|| 1. Requirements ||
\*================================================ ======================*/

Copyright Management requires the "allow_url_fopen" flag enabled in
php.ini
Copyright Management will try to automatically turn it on when needed,
but if you receive error messages when trying to follow step 2.2, then you
cannot use this mod due to the "allow_url_fopen" flag being disabled.

/*================================================= =====================*\
|| 2. First Time Installation / Upgrade ||
\*================================================ ======================*/

1. Import the product-dbtech_copyright.xml file from the "XML" folder at
AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product

2. Re-run the "Daily Cleanup" Scheduled Task from the "Scheduled Tasks Manager".

3. That's it! You can start editing settings.

Bubble #5 08-28-2013 06:24 PM

I remember reading that, but I couldn't find anything called php.ini.

Spangle 08-30-2013 12:30 PM

I can appreciate that Coders and Addon writers want a credit for their work, but what this MOD does is give the impression that all the MODS and add ons on a board are by Dragon Byte, when there are probably some that are not.

I also don't like that you should have uncheck if you don't want to show the link to hi velocity hosting, the correct default would be to check it if want to show it.

I actually agree with Cristos that this MOD, actually infringes other MOD copyrights on pages where DragonByte MODS are not being used.

It can take up to 24 hours for the copyright to merge, does it work now?

Then it is your option not to use this mod :)

We provide this mod as an alternative for people who use a lot of our mods and don't want to see multiple copyright statements. We would be completely within our rights to not offer this mod and simply tell people who complain about copyrights to buy the Branding Free licenses or shut up.

Even though we lose visibility (and as a result, money) from providing this mod, and we also provide an option to disable the Hivel sponsor, you still want us to hurt ourselves more? I'm sorry, but to me that is an entirely and completely unfair request, bordering on rude.

Per Paul's note above ^

I'm going to consider the discussion of why you feel their copyright mod infringes upon others copyright as such i.e. an unrelated topic, no more discussion of this it's ridiculous.
  • This mod merges multiple DBTech copyrights into one it does not hijack your copyright and rename it nor replace links within.
  • Word your copyright correctly to distinguish if need be.

Personally I see why they simply made it say:

Powered by vBulletin™ version 4.2.1 Copyright ? 2013 vBulletin Solutions, Inc. All rights reserved.
Modifications © DBTech

Because having example 2 is why the mod was made, example 3 would be just silly.

Keep this thread on topic which is support of this modification not its validity regarding infringing upon others copyrights with theirs when none existed to begin with or if it did, because it was not worded properly enough to distinguish between the two respectively.

TheLastSuperman 08-30-2013 05:06 PM

Cleaned up thread, as you were and more comments like that will simply be deleted.

Back on track :D.

and those who have ignored staff instructions will get infraction points, which can lead to suspensions and bans, enough warnings have been posted now.

onespot 09-01-2013 10:39 PM

This doesn't seem to work.

Installled, ran daily tasks - still have like 5 links at the bottom of my forums.

DragonByte Tech 09-01-2013 10:41 PM

Please ensure all your DBTech modifications are running the latest versions - they must be newer than April 2013 in order to function with this new version of CM :)

Happy for you, but I also deleted it because it is poorly worded :cool:

Ba'al 09-02-2013 02:29 AM

Well, when you find that properly worded Copyright Mod you just jump right on it, i will keep using this one.

LgsOfChampions 09-06-2013 12:52 PM

So if I added this mod, waited the 24 hours and did do what it's suppose to do, but then i added another mod after the 24 hour wait will this automatic fix or wait another 24 hours? just asking cause this is happening to me and wondering if it should of fix it's self or I have to wait another 24 hours PER MOD i add? it's no biggie, just wanna make sure.

also is there a wait to center the link on the botton? It shoves it to the right side under an already centered footer and look like crap

DragonByte Tech 09-08-2013 08:19 PM

You'll only have to wait again if you install a new mod that we've only just released (not an update, but an entirely new mod) :)

^^^^This^^^^ I have not had any problems with this Mod, if i add new/older Mods they fall right in and this Mod takes care of everything.

Fillip

Thanx for the update Fillip, this whole thing has been so...............well you know.

qpurser 11-21-2013 09:52 AM

Thanks for the update. Looks nicer now having the shorter version with the link to the "Detail" page.
I noticed the "Dragonbyte" link opens in a new page however the "Details" link doesn't and opens in the same page. For me personally it is better when our users don't leave the forum page when clicking on the "details" link.
I figured it out myself where to add the target="_blank" but maybe you could change the XML for the other users if you feel it is a good idea.

Please, can you tell me where I have to go to translate the phrase in to spanish? Thanks!! ^^

cenglish 05-27-2014 12:34 AM

Thanks Fillip, perfectly cleans up my footer section. Well Done.

Macgiber 06-18-2014 01:27 AM

Now works for vb5 ?

BBNZowner 06-26-2014 11:20 PM

Currently the copyright text is separated from the vB copyright text with a linebreak/gap. Is there a way to modify this so it sits snug under the default copyright (e.g. what templates would I have to edit?)

Cheers

That's controlled by the position of {vb:raw vboptions.copyrighttext} in your templates.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=233296

ozzy47 06-29-2014 10:28 AM

Perhaps this mod, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=292796

Alan_SP 06-29-2014 11:39 PM

Instead this mod I use this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=243510

forums55 08-31-2014 07:52 AM

I've installed this mod and enabled it in Settings but nothing changed, I have the exact same listing of the copyrights. Does the change happen once installed or takes some time until changes are visible?

DragonByte Tech 08-31-2014 09:08 AM

It may take up to 24 hours for the changes to be visible. You also need to make sure all DragonByte Tech mods are fully up to date, as old versions may not be able to have their copyrights merged.

Scyther 04-15-2015 01:09 PM

Nice. Working well with vB 4.2. Good to see a simple Copyright.

SaN-DeeP 04-15-2015 05:10 PM

I somehow dislike this stuff..
(please accept criticisms as we use almost all/many products from dbtech).

But appreciate the developer decision to have a single non-branding free notification.. in case we have multiple addons..

[DBTech] Copyright Management v2.1.1.zip (5.7 KB, 27 downloads As i can see now..

Installs: 107
vb.org bug or something else ??
Weird ?

Zachery 04-15-2015 10:13 PM

Don't have to mark it as installed to download it, and downloads reset everytime a new file is uploaded.

Hostboard 04-16-2015 10:10 AM

Can you please have the "Details" link set to open in a new window/tab?

Alibass 04-16-2015 10:54 AM

You can edit the xml file and add that yourself.

GreyGhost 04-16-2015 05:14 PM

Is there any way to pass the affiliate ID with the Details link?

I think the majority of clickers would use that link to see what mods you're running and from there they're more likely to make a purchase if they like what's being used.

8-)

madness85 04-16-2015 07:14 PM

Personally I think the amount of branding you guys add is ridiculous and is a big put off for me :(

If Ya really need to list all mods installed couldn't you just add a "click here" then it drop down with all mods installed? atm the footer just looks a mess.
