If it had worked and there was support, I would have bought the full version.

Do you know how many times I've heard the same saying??....
In any case, support will be available Tuesday and Friday 18:00-20:00pm GMT+2. Sorry but I've lots of things to do in my life.

Thank you

I wish the day to has 48h. It's the only way to have all done. My last day off, was on September 2004. 7 years I'm working at least 14h every day, including weekeds and holidays. Is not that I don't want to help. Is that I've so many things to do.
In any case I'll try to post an update today. The errors are clear. eg there is referrence to a function which exists only in the pro version, and I need to remove it.

Yes, you need to check with your Hosting provider how many emails you can send per hour. Then you need to goto Newsletter's settings. By default it send 150 emails per cronjob. So if you have setup the "Send Mails" cron to run every 30 min, then 300 emails will be send out per hour.

Chris

A new bug fix release (1.0.2) is available for download. This version fixes the problems on sending newsletter. To upgrade upload all files and import the product xml file.

Thank you

It was so frustating, to spend around 3 hours checking every single line of code, and trying to understand what in hell is that bug which was making the addon to not work but on the same time to not show any error. Finally it was (as usally is such issues) a childish issue. The code was correct to prepare the newsletter, to add receipments etc, and the only missing was the command to "Send Email" ... $mail->Send(); ... Idiot me...

Chris

CaneInsider 12-03-2011 06:30 PM

How hard is this to install? Also is there some examples of what the email can look like?

joeychgo 12-03-2011 08:42 PM

Re-Installed - Seems to work now - thank you.

amorosso 12-04-2011 10:19 PM

AWESOME... Just like your others mods, just awesome. But I have one dumb ass question to ask..
With ...If you want to give the look of your site to the outgoing emails, write here the HTML code for the page HEADER. Where would I get this html from ?..

joeychgo 12-12-2011 10:12 AM

Well it worked once - and no more.... Same problem as before. Nothing in the scheduled task log, no emails received.

Have you setup new schedule. The free version does not supports reccuring mailings (eg every Sunday). As for your comment, except if you changed something, any script works or not works. Is impossible to work once and then stops.

Chris

joeychgo 12-12-2011 11:09 AM

Actually, it did ultimaty send, it just took awhile... I thought it was wierd that it wouldnt work all of a sudden.

Whats the difference in the lite version versus your paid version?

GreyGhost 12-13-2011 10:53 AM

Hi Chris,
I plan on testing this very soon and all going well will go for pro.

1 question, are there any plans to include Latest CMS Articles?
I use the CMS Articles for any important news and would prefer them to be included, more so than forum posts.

Cheers,

8-)

Can I customize the newsletter in Pro version?

Not more than the Free version. eg editing the css file for changing colors, or editing the functions.php where is the code for each block.

If you want to send general mailings (don't with content from the Forums), then I've another product, the "Marketer", which is using mailinglists and HTML editor, so you can design the emails as you want. Don't look for it here. There is no Free version of this addon.

Hi Chris,

I don't look for this in free version and doesn't matter if I have to pay :).

How many letter I can send at once?

I have 60.000 registered members, so this mod can send newsletter to them at once?

The mod can send it. The problem is your hosting provider and not the mod. It depends on how many emails you provider permits you to send per hour. The mod has a setting to set how many emails to send per cronjob. So if your provider allows you to send 1,000 emails per hour, and you've setup the cronjob for sending emails to run every 30 minutes, then you must set 500 in the settings.
But even if you don't have restrictions from your hosting provider, I believe that is not good to send more than 2,000 emails per hour.

The Pro version maybe has more features, but still has no more design features than the Free version. So, don't waste your money.

I want to send to members with ads via newsletter, but This can not done in free version, right?

Sorry No. Advertisments is on the PRO version only. The logic is simple. Advertisments (as you honestly admit), means money for you. So, why not money for me?:) That's why I added this feature only in the PRO version.

Okay Chris I got my test e-mail functioning. One quick question if I let it search all forums for the popular threads it will pull one out of a forum I have set up as the staff forum which is only viewable by moderators, supermoderators and Administrators. Any quick fix to this. Also a little help to display my forums logo in the header. You can see the attempt I made and if you click on the blue img link you will display the picture.

Okay I hacked some html code so I got my picture to post. Just need that one question answered now about the staff forum.

Successfulsteps 12-20-2011 07:03 AM

Does this work in 4.1.9? I just upgraded and am having some problems with other mods due it. I would love the pro version, and shoot ads are good for business. But I want to insure it works first on this version.

Thank you in advance for your time.

To be honest I'm always waiting around 2 weeks before upgrading to a new version, as 99% should be something like 4.1.9 PL1 :erm:

But especially this addon, does not uses any vb functions, expect usergroups, that's why it works unmodified with vB3.x too. So, 99,99% should be compatible.

By default you can assign, which forum ids to include in Popular list. But I can understand you if you have 30 forums and you want to include 29 of them and let out just one, this is not the best way for you. You can tricky it by modifying the file: newsletter/functions.php.

Search for:
Code:

function getPopular
A few lines below you'll find:
Code:

WHERE visible=1 AND open=1 AND forumid IN ($forumids) AND replycount>0
Change it to:
Code:

WHERE visible=1 AND open=1 AND forumid NOT IN ($forumids) AND replycount>0
Doing this change (and only for the popular threads), the forum ids that you'll add in settings, will be excluded instead to included. Hope that you gor my meaning.

Gotcha so maybe I could do that for the most recent also. Cool and thanks for the quick reply.

lazytown 12-20-2011 11:49 PM

Can this do some of the things we discussed via pm a while ago? Such as most popular thread in the past week/month (top replies in past week, top views in past week, etc)?

Thx

bremereric 12-21-2011 04:12 AM

Okay Chris I got the code changed and it worked great with my test PM. I scheduled one to the super mods and administrator but it did not work. I am going to need more help. I really want this to work. It's probably the mail server settings. PM coming to you.

I went back and read all the posts. If I can get it working I will pay for the pro version. Send e-mails gets me this in admincp....

Newsletter Send Emails

Could not instantiate mail function.
Done

There is a notice about this in my main post. The free version is using the Mail() function to send newsletters. Some hosting providers (like GoDaddy), have disabled this function.

It was never that Chris I finally asked Hostmonster for the correct e-mail settings and got it to work. Your link to the Pro version doesn't work anymore. As soon as you fix that I am ready to buy. One last question is my Issue count is up to 8 now. How can I role it back to Issue number one. I assume testing it raised the number up to 8.

Thanks,

Eric
