I'll change it to Your History in the next version :)

DragonByte Tech 05-17-2011 08:50 PM

Thank you :) going to upgrade now will report back

MissKalunji 05-17-2011 10:45 PM

*reporting back*

everything I previous reported works :) and the creating thread too!

MagicThemeParks 05-17-2011 11:17 PM

I haven't updated it just yet, but I had a question about the vBcredits II deluxe integration. Can we have it so that a person will only earn credits if he or she gets a certain score on the quizzes? We can allow them to take the quizzes "x" amount of times, but I'd like to give credit to those folks that do a good job on the quizzes. Is this possible?

MissKalunji 05-17-2011 11:55 PM

one question...wouldn't it be better for the quiz to get a thread posted once the quiz gets activated VS when you first create it?

MissKalunji 05-18-2011 12:51 AM

after taking the quiz they can't view the answers?

Hmm, it would have to be set per quiz. It's not setup that way right now but I could add it to the request list for next release.

Good idea. I'll add it to the next release to create the thread after it's activated. I was going to work on making it possible to post the scores on the same thread as people take the quiz as well.

Not at the moment, it's on the list of things to do to make it so they can view the questions/correct answer/what they answered after the quiz.

The posting the scores in the same thread would be great! :D

Reviewing the answers after the quiz would be a nice touch. :)

What was in the recent update?

It was a fix for the user comment and current entry avatars. If you have them stored in the db it would cause errors when viewing the quiz.

MagicThemeParks 05-26-2011 09:44 PM

I have 1.0.3 installed, did it really jump all the way to 1.1.1? Is there anything special that I have to do to upgrade?

No, just upload the files and import the product xml :)

Thanks! Updated

Noticed you missed this phrase fix, this suggestion to remove the 'create' portion in the profile tab and the "your history" suggestion :)

Didn't see it in the 1st thread features/notes, but did you add the ability to earn vBcredits upon a certain score being met per quiz?

I haven't tested it yet, but were these suggestions implemented?

And a small reminder about the ratings stars needing to be a png image ;)

You're right, the first and third didn't get put in there by accident. The second one is on the list, just didn't go in this version. Same with the vbcredits min score. MissKalunji's suggestions are also on the list but 1.1.0 was done before she made the request. 1.1.1 was posted after but I don't add features to bugfix releases :)

This was just a small feature release, I'm still working on adding more.

Thank you Dylan! Figured I'd put it all together in one post to keep us on point :D

i said this b4, but great mod!

i had a minor suggestion - can the quiz be on a subdomain? for example currently my forums are on forums.mysite.com. it looks ugly to have forums.mysite.com/quiz.php

can the next enhancement be the ability to place quizzes on a sub domain like quiz.mysite.com while still retaining forums.mysite.com ?

i know photopost (a vB image gallery) does offer such functionality.

thank you.

ok i bought this! is theres an faq explaining the quiz types? atm it seems too simplistic or i dont know how to use all the features
i dont know how personality works or the result gen or adv result gen categories work

i want to make a personality test, is that possible?
so the answers have hidden values instead of points... e.g type1 type2 type3 type4

at the end of the quiz of 20 questions it sees which type comes out the most and that is his personality.

There is documentation posted here:

http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/docs/vbquiz/index.html

Let me know if there's anything you need more detail on :)

You would want to use the Result Generator type of quiz for a personality test. Multiple choice questions where each answer has a point value assigned to a result. Top result wins.

Dylan

cowcowcow 07-04-2011 09:08 PM

im also getting this error when i click on view entries. is there a way to see the results of pple who took the test?

Fatal error: Cannot use object of type vB_Template_Object as array in /home/xxx/forum/includes/vba_dyna_functions.php on line 1036

i have vBdynamics installed.

ty for the quick reply! saw the doc but it doesnt explain it much. does that mean i specify the point value in words or does it have to be in numeric form? e.g

A = "type 1 personality" OR do i just put "1"
B= type 2 personality
C = type 3..
D= type 4..

and if the person keeps picking A / "1" the most time out of say 20 questions then he gets called a type 1 personality? thanks for clafiying!

You create a result generator quiz.
You create the results, so you'll have type 1, type 2, type 3, etc
Then you create the questions and answers.
As you create the answer you will select the type the answer belongs to as well as assign a numeric value which will be the worth of that answer. If it's all even worth then just put a 1 for each answer worth.
At the end, the one type that is selected the most will be the winner.

Viewing the entries is the way to see what people got on the test for now. I'm adding more.
I'm not sure what is causing that error, I've never used that mod before.

thanks dylan, that was helpful

is there a way to see the results of pple who took the test in a list format by quiz without having to go to their individual profiles? this one feature would be super essential to ensure pple actually wanna do t he quizzes

I'm not sure what's causing that error. I don't own vbdynamics so I don't know what code is involved or why it would error on the quiz mod.

Hi cowcowcow,

The only way to view a list of quiz results right now is through the current entries.

Unfortunately this is broken by vBDynamics.

We will look into more ways of showing quiz results and info in future versions.

Iain

  • Added mini quiz section to forum FAQ

DragonByte Tech 08-17-2011 03:03 PM

Dylan

DragonByte Tech 08-18-2011 10:58 PM

I just uploaded a hotfix for 1.2.1 to fix a problem with editing questions. If you installed 1.2.1 then download the package again and reinstall the xml file to fix the problem. The php files are fine how they are.

What do you get at the end result? No result or does it come up with zero out of whatever? I'm not sure what you are getting.
If you want, you can pm me an account with access to created/edit quizzes and I'll check it out. It will greatly decrease troubleshooting times :)

I'm setting value for "Quiz per page" as 10 but still it shows 5 quiz per page?

Problem Solved:
Open: dbtech/vbquiz/actions/main.php
Search LIMIT 5
Change it as you want quiz per page

You should change value as defined settings $quizperpage
