FWC, Thank you so much

I have about ten (wanna be) mods ;) and that was looking kinda messy, now the mess is gone.

Again thank you so much.

xug 11-05-2001 11:10 PM

Hi guys

I had emailed a few days ago kaost and got an reply from him today.

With his permission, because he have some login problems (and hopefully Firefly will take care of this as soon as possible) I may post here his latest hack.

Many thanks to kaost for this very cool hack update !!

To see how it looks now go to his site at :

Hey guys

I just downloaded the 2 files: moddropdown and modexdrop and installed as instructed. Everything seems to work fine with exception of these 2 issues:

- There is a link pointing to a file called showmods.php, but this file doesn't exist in my vbulletin directory. Am I missing anything?

- The dropdown menu (Moderated By) doesn't show the list of the mods ...

Any hint?

Thanks in advance for the great hack and for any possible help

Here the link to my forum: http://hatch.prz.tu-berlin.de/~lego/vbulletin/index.php

I didn't see a link to the forums. There was one to register, but that wall all I could find. I'll look at the new code and see if there's anything worth upgrading to.

xug 11-06-2001 10:08 AM

The file showmods.php was not included in this hack.

I found another one and installed it, works all fine.

thnx :) installing on my board 2moz

LuBi 11-11-2001 08:53 PM

Does this work with 2.2?

Mr. X 11-11-2001 09:03 PM

yup

Nemesis77 11-18-2001 03:46 AM

I installed this on 2.2.1 first the guy who I'm doing his site for didn't want the moderator column so I removed it. Later he decided he did want the mod column back and wanted ths hack installed. I put the mod column back on the forum home page. all mods are now listed there and everything looks good. I installed this hack but it didn't chnage anything. Mods are still listed as they were when vb was first installed. I check all the templlates i had to edit like 10 times and i know it all right cause i installed this hack many times. any know what wrong?

Madison 11-20-2001 12:23 PM

Hi

Thanx for this great hack! It's working fine.

Fore those who are intrested I`ve made a new team image. It`s now in the original vBulletin 2.x design.

Ghostsuit 11-21-2001 10:27 AM

Hey just like to say thanks for the cool hack.

However I'm having the same problem as Dez_U I've added the code to both ...

forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

But I'm only seeing the drop downs on the main forums not the subforums.

I'm on 2.2.0 of the the boards if that helps any.

Ghostsuit 11-21-2001 11:18 AM

Ok I've spent the last 40 minutes looking through template and I think I've found the solution to my and Dez-U's problem

To get the drop downs on the subforums you need to expand Forum Display Templates

Then edit both the forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and
forumhome_forumbit_level2_post putting the code in you used for "Forum Home Page Templates" and edit your "forumhome_forumbit_level2_post.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't muck up anything on the forum but if I'm wrong give me a shout.

Dez_U 11-21-2001 06:07 PM

Hey Ghostsuit,

That did the job just great.

This is a great hack and should be incorporated in the main programme, it just makes the forum so much neadter looking.

thanks to all. :pleased:

devilsmania 11-27-2001 02:07 AM

GREAT !!! installed it on 2.2.1 in a few mins without probs :D

exodus 12-04-2001 05:16 PM

this hack rocks.

this is one of the finest hack i've seen..

I've been going to a bunch of different boards and I see this and I'm like "I want that, it's cool" but I could never find it. One quick search on vB.org and b00m! I've got it installed.

Thanks vB.org!

cturcich 12-05-2001 01:29 PM

ugh, i followed the directions step by step, but it's still not working, it's showing the mod list in the same fashion as before, any ideas?

LuBi 12-05-2001 01:31 PM

Did something wrong, just try it again go over your steps..

Do I need to follow anything other than what was included in the original post?

I'm using 2.2.1

LuBi 12-05-2001 01:37 PM

No, hold on I'll check I know what you did wrong I do it sometimes when I install this hack. But just run over the hack again and check everything to make sure you did it right. It's a really easy hack to install not to many things to do so less to go wrong.

LuBi 12-05-2001 01:40 PM

So make sure you did the following:

edit your forumhome_forumbit_level2_post
edit your forumhome_moderator template
Then edit your header.

Not to much to do, try updating your counters. I always do that after installing a hack. I bet that'll fix it.. goodluck :D if all else fails just go over the hack again and check everything.

cturcich 12-05-2001 01:45 PM

I've followed the directions, they aren't hard at all, but it's still not working for me. **sigh**

I went ahead and updated counters, but that didn't fix it either.

Everything looks correct.

Twig Deez 12-05-2001 04:54 PM

i have this installed on 2.2.1 with no problems whatsoever!
even tho i have like eight styles and had to hack each of them, it's all good.

excellent work. :D

cturcich 12-05-2001 05:08 PM

Everything's working now thanks to LuBi.

Thanks!

rightmargin="0", use that in your header to fix that problem with the image not meeting the right side of the page. ;)

eh? :)

what do you have, like a 1280x960 resolution or something?
i use 1024x768, and it fits just fine.

i actually took a poll some time ago regarding resolutions,
and it seems 80%+ of my users use 1024x768;
thus, i created the graphics to fit that resolution;
anything smaller will have scroll bars,
and i assume anything bigger will have that gap.

is that right? i hope so. thanks for pointing that out tho!

LuBi 12-06-2001 01:01 PM

Nope I'm 1024 also and you have a gap, you shouldn't go by pixel because the people who do have smaller resolutions will have a tough time. I make my sites to work with both. You can do what you wish but if I was 800x600 on your site I wouldn just leave instead of trying to navigate. just my .02

Twig Deez 12-08-2001 02:53 AM

well dude, i'm 1024x768 like i said, and i don't see a gap;
in fact, that's the first time i've ever heard that such a thing exists,
but you know. i'll look into it and stuff.

cheers.

Hey,
Great hack, Works like a charm http://www.deeperimage.com/forums . I have very little PHP and VBulletin experience and it was a breeze to install it.. I tested it with Netscape 4.02 and works fine and also with IE 5.5..Thanks a bunch.. :)

cturcich 12-12-2001 09:52 PM

I've got the hack working good, but I had an additional area where it's not populating the drop down...

If someone could go look and tell me which template I need to edit :)

http://1400smith.com.hosthome.net/fo...php?forumid=15

Thanks

You should always read the whole thread when installing a hack. :)

How can I either align the dropdown to the left in it's table, or make it as wide as the table is? They're currently aligned to the right.

Just set the able to LEFT instead of RIGHT

:)

DarkReaper 12-16-2001 02:38 AM

How can I make it so the "moderated by:..." is normal within a specific forum, with the hack to make sub-forums have the drop down box is added?

Bimma Boy 12-27-2001 08:52 AM

What a sweet hack! :) Installed in 2 mins flat! ;)

Guys - Can yer just tell me how I can change the bg color of the drop down from default grey to another color so it blends in with my forum theme!

Thanks in advance
