Carrie / Morgan / Calorie:

I am also concerned about her representation here when she effectively left so many people stranded on the legacy vbgeek products.

MicroHellas also raises some interesting points about the level of support seen here.

Its simple as 1-2-3.
  1. Find a "Lynne" living in Europe
  2. Ask Administrators to decide in which camp they belong. vBulletin or xenForo. To have a big community working well, must exist trust between Admins and Members. What type of trust to give to someone who is Admin here, and on the same time is posting a module at xenForo on how to transfer posts from vB to xenForo?
  3. Restrict Admins to have commercial mods.

4. Make it so mod authors/creators can yes discontinue or remove thier mod however instead of the Graveyard (use that for people who blatantly released someone else's mod or situations like that i.e. style ripp offs etc) create a new area to move the mod's thread for discussion and support by other members yet the .zip is removed OR only available if you have downloaded it in the past that could be an idea as well. I don't know how many times a friend or a client has come to me asking about a mod they have installed by MicroHellas above and it was yanked per her night and day temperaments or health issues so to deprive them of a place to post and possibly be helped by others (like me or someone else who can help with the mod) is not fair and in a sense makes no sense, follow?

This allows us to respect the author's wishes in cases like MicroHellas above by removing yet leaving a place for members who have installed and use to possibly receive support, much more fitting then everything to the graveyard imo.

I do highly agree with her statement about vB / Xf but that's a touchy subject for me as they were and are friends, they should not be "told" they can't do this or that but at the same time there's so many circumstances we are not aware of in regards to all of this so that there must be left up to IB Adrian or others I reckon as that's all I have to say can't argue when your not 100% up to par on something now can we? :D.

Aw, come one, now. Give Carrie a chance. She is VERY knowledgeable about the inner workings of vb. I think she will do great in the new position. She and Lynne make an unbeatable team.

I do agree with "per her night and day temperaments", but on this you have to pay attention in some hidden points. Let's get as example my last ban. I'll not discuss if it was correct or not, but at least I was expecting (while I was unable to logon and post), someone from Admins to post in my theads that I'm banned that's why I can't reply. This is something that nobody did. What happen after all? As I never hidden my email address, I was getting dozens of emails a day, most of them rude, so I had to explain to everybody that I was banned that's why I was unable to reply.

But that's the past. As Atakan said, is better to forget it. If you haven't noticed, after my last surgery and feeling unable for hard mental work, I offered full copyright transfer to anybody who wants to continue upgrading and supporting them, and have some income from donations and brand free. I didn't kept anything for me.

This is a thread to announce the departure of Marco and the fact that Lynne and Carrie have taken up his role, not a thread for taking up grievences against current or previous staff members, or questions about vb4 - please stay on topic. Thanks. :)

Cyamia 12-10-2010 02:40 AM

I just like Lynne. Welcome Lynne to your new position! I liked you first the time I was reading your posts when explaining how to create a new tab. Your are really helpful. I welcome you.

I welcome others too. Who knows, they may improve what you think it's not good enough for you. Just have some hope and encourage them.

Dismounted 12-10-2010 03:14 AM

Congrats and have fun with the new roles, Carrie and Lynne! :)

dacho 12-10-2010 05:05 AM

Many congratulations to calorie and Lynne. :)

Sad to see the "Iron man" of vb.org leave. Thanks to marco for mercilessly deleting all the spam here over the years.

If it was just an announcement then it has to be closed for posts, otherwise is an open for discussion thread. And in a discussion forum everybody must accept the fact that not all posters have the same opinion. That's the main rule of Democracy if I remember well, ...or not?:D

As I seen IB Andrian had no problem to read and reply the comments and didn't found our posts out of topic. Actually on his #34 post he is writting "Everyone, just to respond to a few questions/comments.", so comments allowed.

zelnik 12-10-2010 09:25 AM

I know its an old post, but I would want to say Welcome to both of them! And I had a few things to say
now after 2 years that they have been members on here..

To Lynne: Now 2 years later, You are still an amazing person! Since I started on vBulletin.com late in Juli 2012, you been helping me, if you remember. The hardest for me was the vB3.8 Upgrade to vB4.x. You kept answering my post that was not even visible as the last post, but you remembered and helped me. And you provided me you tutorial about how to Upgrade helped me ALOT.

Now 2 years I have seen this post, and I had to reply an answer, It showes you never gave up or stopped providing help. And not only me but you have an amazing reputation and your help on vBulletin.com and on here have really made me think that you deserve a lot and especially to be the Admin of vBulletin.org

Thanks you very much Lynne...and Welcome to Both of you
