Hi Naiker,

Looks like something went wrong after repeated tries to install the mod. Please get in touch via PM and let me know your yahoo or MSN id to be contacted at. I'll then get in touch and help you fix the error on your website.

I'll also work on a compatibility issue with vB4.0.8 when I get a moment.

Anything new, phpdesk? xD

Any luck on 4.0.8 as we haven't got any reply here since 3 weeks.

Yep.

It seems like every time I make a donation to a Mod author they take the money and run.

Joke is on me I guess ..

Wow, I would ask for a refund ;)

The reason why I quit donating a while back!

I've been around for years, and I'm not going anywhere, SwollenCranium. I really do appreciate your donation, it's just that not everyone has learnt to at least say thank you for a free mod and try to be friendly in return. There's the weird attitude of a few members in private messaging that put me off.

Anyway, I posted a quick update to this mod so that it supports all vBulletin 4.0.x versions, including 4.0.8.

Hope you enjoy it and thanks for your interest!

I appreciate your update, works fine. But I've one more request: Is it possible to fit the profile intro into the customization? If there is a member with a customized profile the intro looks a bit strange ^^

Regards from Germany

Could you send me a sample link to show the unusual behaviour of the intro block with customized profile pages?

I've made you a screenshot of a customized profile. As you can see the profile intro doesn't fit to the customized style. I had to change the CSS-Classes in your XML to get the profile intro readable because it's transparent. If you want to use the 50% opacity background you'll find it here

Installed & works.

4.0.8 LP2

OldSchoolDSL 11-20-2010 10:15 PM

Seems to be a group permission issue. I setup so only Admin , Mod, S-Mod, and a group a I made called "Community Sponsor" would have access to this & everyone else would not. But oddly enough everyone does (Registered Users, Awaiting Confirmation E-mail).

phpdesk 11-20-2010 11:30 PM

OldSchoolDSL,

I double ckecked on my test installation, and the usergroup based display filter seems to be working fine.

Hippy 11-20-2010 11:55 PM

yes phpdesk.. I also checked it out ..
working as it should 2 thumbs up

Are you by any chance assuming it doesn't work because of the Profile Intro Title and Profile Intro Text fields displaying for all usergroups on the Profile Edit page? That's because, as far as I'm aware, there isn't currently a way to filter custom fields by usergroups.

In this mod, restriction refers to the Profile Intro block display on the member profile page.

basilrath 11-21-2010 03:16 PM

Nice idea

I'm hoping the attached screen show will explain my thinking better.

The user profile I provided as an example is JUST a normal user. I had hope that a normal users would not be able to use this or would not be able to share this on their profile page.

argothiusz 11-21-2010 10:56 PM

Does this support Embedded Video and Picture BBCode as well?

Thanks

8thos 11-22-2010 06:50 AM

Doesn't seem to allow any bbcode at all whatsoever.

Valadur 11-22-2010 11:34 PM

Thank you for this nice mod. Works fine for me.. :)

ForenOpfer 11-23-2010 08:21 PM

Hey phpdesk (;

I'm gettin' some parse errors running your member profile intro on vB4.0.8PL2

PHP Code:

Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected T_STRING in /forum/includes/class_core.php(4070) : eval()'d code on line 405

or
PHP Code:

Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected T_STRING in /forum/includes/class_core.php(4070) : eval()'d code on line 407

I haven't installed or modified any other addon but yours and, of course, the Patch Level 2 of vB4.0.8. Since this PL-Update I've getting these errors on two profile pages out of roundabout 4,200 accounts O.o

Any Idea?

Best regards from Germany again

Would be very cool if you add this when someone try to send you a pm too, not only in the profile page.

Anyone else can confirm this issue? I am not able to replicate it on my test installation.

gamerzhut 12-04-2010 06:47 AM

Thanks for the feedback. Well, someone could probably tell why image bbcode wouldn't work, I am not sure, unfortunately.

MelH 01-11-2011 04:33 AM

Hi Alex, thanks for a great mod..

I noticed that the Profile intro Title and Profile intro Text is repeated in the basic information part of the About Me page. Meaning when on the About Me page or to guests and not logged in members the information is on the page twice.

Should this be happening? If not can you tell me what to do to remove it in the lower section? And if so can you let me know the template to modify so I can remove it?

Thanks.. Mel

phpdesk 01-25-2011 08:07 PM

I'm still trying to understand how a few things work at vbulletin. Such as the custom stylesheet not being hooked if the admin setting to save css as file is turned on. Apparently, there is no fix for this yet, so a temporary fix for that would be moving all the contents from profile-intro.css to vbulletin.css if you wish to have the stylesheets to be saved to a file instead of load from the database.

Other two things are enablingg the img bbcode support and (per MelH's request) hiding the Profile intro Title and Profile intro Text data from the About Me tab on the Member page.

If someone can throw in some light for fixes here, I'm sure everyone will appreciate your input. I'll see what I can do as well.

I noticed this mod a long time ago, finally decided to try it out. Doesn't seem to work on 4.1.2.

Also tried on a similar 4.1.1 installation. No luck~

TheInsaneManiac 04-03-2011 07:22 PM

not workin on 4.1.2

giorgioarmani 04-03-2011 08:39 PM

Thanks for sharing this!

Great stuff :)

phpdesk 04-03-2011 09:30 PM

We are at Version 4.1.3 Beta 1 right now, I'll look forward to apply a compatibility fix when we reach the next latest stable version, to save some time.

Hi, please send me a private message and I'll help you solve the problem.

gamerzhut 04-20-2011 02:27 PM

I am on vb4.1.3, BB code seems to be working in the content not in the title. So, it seems to be ok for me :)

PS: Is there any option to set a message as default in all the profiles???

Member profile intros are meant to be individual, so every member would have to set a title and intro text for the profile intro block. Blobal profile intro blocks could be achieved as simple template modifications though.
