Gonna keep an eye on this until bugs are ironed out. Looks good.

unp 05-08-2010 11:30 AM

Got it working switching from auto display to manual.

As far as we know there are no confirmed bugs in version 5.1 =)

If we missed anything please let us know.

It should be relatively bug free atm, though it's impossible to get it 100% bug free :p
You should give it a try, allow only a few select usergroups to access it, and if you find any bugs, report them.
I'll fix them ASAP.
The less people report bugs, the less chance of them being discovered :)

You're probably missing the template hook in the template then, thanks for letting me know :D
That'll help me in further support questions from others with the same problem as you :)

Smiley button isn't click-able. The error is-
Code:

Message: 'vBShout1.smilies' is null or not an object

unp 05-08-2010 02:04 PM

One more error I am getting when 'Active users' Tab is clicked.
Code:

Message: 'YAHOO.util.Dom.get(...)' is null or not an object
Line: 77
Char: 3
Code: 0
URI: http://mysite/dbtech/vbshout/clientscript/vbshout-sound.js?v=5100

Any customised templates? If not, can you give my user (Belazor) access to posting shouts so that I can see for myself?

Confirmed, will fix for 5.2 which should be released on Monday.

Same. This also happens with private messages to others in the shoutbox.

Also, one of my moderators can't access their CP. The following error occurs:
Quote:

Call to a member function register() on a non-object in /***/public_html/forum/dbtech/vbshout/includes/hooks/usercp_nav_complete.php

Disabling the mod until it's developed a bit further, with less bugs.

Private Messages are intended to be shown in the main chat room tab (in addition to the manually created Private Dialogue between the two users).
In fact, I discovered a bug where if a PM was sent while you were in a chat room, the PM became unreadable to the other user (unless the other user was also in the same chat room) until a PM dialogue between the two users was created.

This has been fixed for v5.2.

I'm unable to confirm this. You may have another mod that interrupts the usercp_nav_start hook execution.

That being said, I'll add some "protection" from this error even though it's caused by a mod conflict on your end.

Yeah, they show in the main chat with [PM] next to the usernames. I'm aware, but that's not what's happening.

No message shows in the private message whatsoever, and instead shows in the main chat, without the [PM] next to it, for everyone to see.

DragonByte Tech 05-08-2010 05:36 PM

The PM issue is related to the Active Users tab error described above.
It's a bug that only affects the Lite version.

I'll upload a hotfix within a few minutes.

DragonByte Tech 05-09-2010 12:36 AM

A critical security vulnerability has been found and addressed.
This only affected the vB3 version.

The affected file is /dbtech/vbshout/includes/class_dm_vbshout.php - please re-download the zip and re-upload this file to your forum as soon as possible.

procard 05-09-2010 12:57 AM

I'm getting this error when uploading:

Either /home/procard/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/install/core.php or /home/procard/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/install/finalise.php is missing!

Files are not missing from the upload.

DragonByte Tech 05-09-2010 01:08 AM

If you're sure you've uploaded them to the correct directories, I don't know what the problem could be :(
Are you running some form of PHP cache?

procard 05-09-2010 01:23 AM

Please excuse my inexperience. I uploaded the files from the "upload" folder to the forums directory. I do have a "Forums" and "Forums_4.0" directory. I tried uploading the "upload" folder to both directories and got the same message.

Should I upload each file separately in the uploads folder to the forums directory? I uploaded the entire uploads folder to the forums directory.

I do have a cache folder in my vb directory would that be of any issues?

Taurus1 05-09-2010 01:35 AM

I want to congratulate you on a fantastic product! I have used every chatbox available, and this is by far the best one I have seen yet. Thank you!!

If you would permit me a few questions though!

I cannot get the sounds to work.
Is it possible to have this on my Who is Online page?

Thanks again!!

Taurus1 05-09-2010 02:04 AM

Also whenever I invite a member I get the 'invalid chat room' error.

There is no option tho select sounds or PM's when clicking on the title. Only archive. And when I click this, I get"

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_video() (previously declared in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/includes/class_bbcode.php(2469) : eval()'d code:61) in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/includes/libs/shoutbox.php(2727) : eval()'d code on line 90

Taurus1 05-09-2010 03:58 AM

I had to disable this, I could not access one of my threads, and got some weird vbseo error. Disabled it worked again. Hope we can get it sorted.

Have you installed the Quicktime plugin for the sounds? What steps have you taken? =)

I'll let Belazor answer the WOL question.

Hmm, is it possible you could give us the exact error? Difficult for us to debug without that =P Also, what version of VBSeo are you running? Did it only happen with this one thread or with all threads? Was the thread made before/after the mod was installed?

(To the people who I didn't reply to, Fillip will handle your issues, my technical support ability is limited to making sure the correct info is available for when the coders get online =P)

Thanks, Iain

Taurus1 05-09-2010 05:18 AM

I did not see any instructions about Quick time. So no i did not.

Here is the error when clicking on 'archive'

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_video() (previously declared in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/includes/class_bbcode.php(2469) : eval()'d code:61) in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/includes/libs/shoutbox.php(2727) : eval()'d code on line 90

Currently I am running vbseo 3.5 rc2, did not get around to upgrade yet. But I had no other issues before.

It seems only in this one thread. Cannot go through all threads.

This is the error:Fatal error: Call to undefined method vB_Template::fetch_template_raw() in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/vbseo/includes/functions_vbseo_hook.php on line 25

Still don't see any options under the title when clicking on the shoutbox title. Other than 'Archive'.

DragonByte Tech 05-09-2010 06:52 AM

Oops, perhaps should have made the quicktime requirement clearer. It was up on the first post/feature list

"Shoutbox Sounds: You asked for it, we delivered. Customisable sounds now available on receiving shouts, Invites, PM's and more. (Requires QuickTime Plugin)"

Fillip will have a look at your other issue when he gets online.

You're supposed to upload the contents of the upload folder, not the upload folder itself :)

Add ,online to the deployment field in the instance editor.

I think I know why that happens, you've installed a mod that incorrectly implements the [VIDEO] tag.
I'll see if anything can be done about this.

Fillip

DragonByte Tech 05-09-2010 11:02 AM

I'm unable to confirm the "Invalid Chat Room" error. This leads me to believe you may have been attempting to invite a member to a chat room that you created in the AdminCP.
This isn't possible because those chat rooms are meant for usergroups only.
You can only invite members to the chat rooms you create manually in the Shoutbox itself.

Taurus1 05-09-2010 11:18 AM

Quote:

Create members in the chatbox....you lost me...sorry!

Anyways....the biggest concern for me is the error I get trying to access one of my threads. The vbseo something error.

EDIT: uhhh duhh....sorry I get it, create chatrooms......you don't mean create members....lol

I created the chatrooms from within the shoutbox itself. And even inviting a member to the default shoutbox or room, gives me the same error.

DragonByte Tech 05-09-2010 12:20 PM

"Inviting a member to the default shoutbox" - what? You can only invite a member to a Chat Room, and only one you create with /createchat.

Additionally, the "Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_video()" function is not an error with vBShout, it's with the [VIDEO] mod you have installed.
You need to contact the author of that mod and tell them this:
Quote:

You need to wrap the handle_bbcode_video() function declaration in a if (!function_exists('handle_bbcode_video')) check.

The vBSEO error is a bug in the vBSEO software.
They check for the presence of the vB_Template class, where they should be checking the version number.
It's not something I can fix, sorry.

Like I said, chat rooms created in the AdminCP (via Chat Room Management) don't support invitation, because it's made for those usergroups alone.

Hmm... Not sure how much more you're expecting of Fillip here to be honest.

He's trying to understand what you're saying (since there appears to have been a mix up in communication at least once before)

Not only is he telling you exactly what problems the other modifications have, he's also, where possible, letting you know how to get them resolved. You'll find that if you manage to find any other products that do the things ours do (Which you likely won't, as ours are the most advanced on the market) Then they would also run into the bugs in these other products.

Not really sure how you can hold bugs in other products against us to be honest, especially when we're giving instructions on how to fix them...

*shrugs* By all means though, if the product is too complex for you to use (which is sometimes the case with modifications with the scope of ours) then I hope you find a simpler alternative which meets your needs =)

I am not even gonna answer you what I really want to.....you have no idea of what multitude of mods I have installed on my website.....Far more complex than this one you are boasting about.
I am merely stating that I have no issues with any other mod, no conflicts.....so please....refrain from accusing people of something without any grain of evidence. Maybe you guys should work on your people skills a bit....will definitely help!

=) Wasn't making an accusation at all. You seemed to be struggling with some of the concepts (user created chatrooms vs ACP/Default chatrooms & instances for example) And I simply noted that perhaps it was for the best that you decided to find a shoutbox which didn't have these advanced features.

I would be very surprised if you had mods on your site that caused conflicts - that would be a kind of silly thing to do. By definition if a mod has conflicts you get them resolved or remove it... So i'm not sure what you not having conflicts on your site still proves?

If you talk to any experienced developer on vb.org they will tell you that when breaking new ground mod conflicts are not uncommon - often the only time a bug in software gets noticed is when someone tries to do something new and stumbles across it (Otherwise the bug would have been fixed long ago)

In short: When a modification is doing something new, it's not surprising that bugs in other modifications become apparent. I would expect an experienced user to know this and not blame it on 'incompatabilites' or 'conflicts with other mods'

As for the people skills thing, thanks for your input, we'll definetely take it into consideration. I hope you also take my above points into consideration the next time you try to apportion blame onto someone who is not only supplying you with a free modification for your forum, but is also taking the time for free to help you resolve the issues your customised setup is having. Perhaps being more understanding of what causes these issues, as well as less hostile and rude will see you get a nicer reaction in future. =)

Hope that clears things up for you.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the majority of users here on vbulletin.org who do understand the nature of doing things no one else does, and the inherent risks that involves, and who help us out by reporting issues and allowing us to help resolve them while remaining calm and pleasant. You guys are the reason we still release things for free here on the org. Please remember that coders don't get paid for releasing things here, and often it is only the gratitude and reasonable behaviour of the members here that encourage coders to return with cool new stuff =)

Iain

I'm curious as to the mentioned "protection" for the usercp_nav_start hook error I was getting previously?

Also, this may be a conflict with another mod, but some of the navbar links have disappeared.

No, and I even tried disabling a recent mod, and some other mods, and the same occurrence happens.

I'll fiddle around more. It's not a huge issue, but eh.

Not a problem at all Taurus.

For what it's worth, Fillip is Norwegian, so his first language isn't English. He speaks it perfectly but sometimes the context of some words aren't apparent to him (Such as using what?)

On my part, I do apologise if it seemed like i was criticising you with the simpler product comment - it was intended as genuine. For a lot of people cleaner and simpler is better, and a product which has detailed features just isn't worth the learning curve - It wasn't intended as a comment on your ability or intelligence.

If you have any trouble with any of our products feel free to request support, we don't hold grudges and we hope that you'll give our stuff another try.

Thanks for your considerate post.

why is it that only one admin can prune the chat rooms, i have it set to allow all admins do it, but only user id 1 can, user id's 2,3,4 which are sadmins as myself can not prune, they can only prune the main chat window?
