Got it thanks. Nice hack the Problem is in my site skin :)

mandingo 02-27-2010 02:51 PM

Looks good and works great on my site, thanks. I missed having the thread notifications in other boxes.

Hornstar 02-27-2010 08:24 PM

How do you edit shouts? (ajax double clicking didn't work for me and I was hoping it would be that easy)

I noticed you can only prune all shouts. How about ajax delete 1 shout? or all shouts by a given user? or multi select shouts via archive?

Also in the admincp on the left where it has the vbshout - view banned users and command log, can you also add all other vbshout options and setting underneath the heading please. Makes it easier to find and manage.

Apart from that, just looking forward to being able to position where the text field is.

Thanks.

DragonByte Tech 02-27-2010 08:32 PM

Hornstar, in regards to the one click editing, prune single shouts/ single user etc, those are Pro features.

As for the options, the best way to position them is something we plan on examining in future versions =)

Iain

Hornstar 02-27-2010 09:13 PM

I just found out that the double click editing does work in the lite version, it brings the text back into the text area, then when you make the changes, it changes the previous edit. I like it.

I also have auto idle off, but I am being auto idled. I think it might be a bug.

Boko577 02-27-2010 10:25 PM

I like it, but at the actual part where peoples' shouts show needs to be larger. I also recommend taking the extra space out at the top by the buttons. Above and below has too much empty space.

Boko577 02-27-2010 10:29 PM

What's the difference between this one and the other Inferno? GLAD TO SEE THEM, but what's the difference? Which one is better?

Drago13 02-27-2010 10:50 PM

I have the old inferno installed on my forums... It took me a while to get it working right with vB4. I would like the detached version though, ( that is one of the things that would not cooperate with vB4.) . Does the detach function work right with vB4 ? And how does this compare to the old version. Thanks

DragonByte Tech 02-27-2010 11:21 PM

It's possible to adjust the height of the Shoutbox in the options.

Also, Inferno vBShout is not officially supported, this is its replacement of sorts. So, most features are going to be the same, except for various upgrades to modernise it :)

So which shoutbox will you guys be updating still? this one or the more original one.

PatrickBo 02-28-2010 12:46 AM

WHOOO, been waiting a LONG time for a new VB Inferno shoutbox, even though it isn't Inferno anymore. I will likely buy the pro version of this as swell in the future. i instaleld it, but removed it until a possible update is made. Is there any template edit that i can make to put the text box under the shouts, not a fan of having it on the left side.

Also, had some issue with getting the shouts to display new ones on the bottom of the shoutbox, rather than the top. wouldn't work when i made the changes in setting.

If there is a template edit i can make, please let me know.

great work, glad to see it's back. fav shoutbox of all time ;)

ninjashoes 02-28-2010 01:00 AM

When you have white font on a black background in your forum theres a problem(I changed the shoutbox background color to black so the default text color would show up).

When you change the color and try to change the text back to white you won't be able to see your text in the inptut box(if its still white) and if you make the input box black then anyone who enters a shout without changing the color first won't be able to see their shout show up since the background of the shoutbox where messages show up in black.

I hope that wasnt too confusing.

ninjashoes 02-28-2010 01:06 AM

I think you should be able to change the color of the shoutbox around the message-box. Right now it inherits from blockrow I think? You should be able to set it in the control panel or at least in the template.

I also agree with the guy above who said he would like to see the input box beneath the message box. It feel kind of awkward right now.

Very excited to see this mod btw, thank you very much.

shadowla05 02-28-2010 01:23 AM

how would i add like a sound every time a new shout has been enter?

Boko577 02-28-2010 06:56 AM

Honestly, I miss the old Inferno Shout for vB3. Bring it back... Don't try and change what is already perfect! Just add more features to it...

Switching the textbox location is a planned feature :)
It will be included in the next update of the Pro version.

The box was put on the left hand side because it let users see their entire shout, even if it was longer.

Did you refresh the page after making the change?

I know exactly what you mean, but sadly the only way of solving that is to reset every user's style choices.
I'll add a quick button to do that in the Mod/AdminCP.

It does indeed inherit from blockrow, to make it follow the same standard as the rest of the forum.
Does this cause it to look funky on certain skin configurations? I was under the impression blockrow colour would look good in all configurations and flow seamlessly into the rest of the skin.
If you could provide examples of why this philosophy is wrong, please do :) I'll look into setting a colour override if so.

You would need to modify the JavaScript file or something, I have no idea, sorry :(

Different coder, different vBulletin version = different product :p
What's wrong with this one? Your feedback will help improve this version :)

Very glad to see your fast responses and your patience with some of the other members lol. Please keep us updated as to when the pro version includes the input box under the shoutbox, i will then reinstall the software.

DragonByte Tech 02-28-2010 12:40 PM

We're not really allowed to post updates about the pro version here on vb.org, but if you register on our website, we can email you whenever new versions are released =)

Boko577 02-28-2010 09:40 PM

Move the input box thing to the top or bottom, or let us choose between top, bottom, left, or right.

DragonByte Tech 03-02-2010 06:45 PM

vBShout Lite 4.1 has been released. The biggest change is:

* Revamped Shoutbox deployment
It's now easier to add the Shoutbox to any page and any template.
One new automatic deployment location has also been added.

This lets you easily put the shoutbox on, for instance, the CMS page. You also have a greater control over where exactly the Shoutbox is located on each template.

Many of the requested features (including input bar at the bottom) have been added to Pro version 4.1. Details can be found on our website.

This update also brings the modification out of Beta status.

Enjoy!

This is a sweet update BTW! Everyone should give it a shot. =)

steve1966 03-03-2010 05:56 AM

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2010 01:10 PM

  • 4.1.1
    • Fixed Oldest First setting in IE, thanks to Deceptor.

Is there any way I can add this mod just to the vbcms main page? Not the actual content pages, but just the main one.

I think I've tried just about everything :p (including editing templates, etc)

That aside, excellent mod. Thank you very much. I'll be purchasing this next week :D

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2010 09:13 PM

I'm not 100% sure how to do that, because of the way the CMS templates are set up. There's no specific "home page" template (like FORUMHOME is to forums).
You'd need to wrap the vBShout variable in some form of <vb:if condition="">

Fillip

PjDaBadMan 03-03-2010 09:43 PM

i have installed everything but when i go to upload the xml. it gives me this message:

Either /home/patrick/public_html/dbtech/vbshout/install/core.php or /home/patrick/public_html/dbtech/vbshout/install/finalise.php is missing!

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2010 09:59 PM

You didn't upload the files correctly, you must upload the contents of the forum folder, not the forum folder itself :)

Fillip

PjDaBadMan 03-03-2010 10:26 PM

lol :) thanks i got it

PjDaBadMan 03-03-2010 10:29 PM

ok wait... do you know how to set it so the donation bar so its not touching the shoutbox?

You can sign on to my site using this account, to see the SB
Username: tester
Password: 1234

http://gamingreaction.com/forum.php

Also, while your there. Is it possible to change the color? because when you look at the SB in the green and orange style you cant see the time and date.

DragonByte Tech 03-03-2010 10:54 PM

Try adding <br /> to the top of the donation main template. Or the bottom of the vBShout main template.

If that doesn't work, then try adding
style="margin-top: 10px;"
to the top <div> of the Donation template.

Fillip

PjDaBadMan 03-03-2010 10:57 PM

and the color?

PjDaBadMan 03-03-2010 11:11 PM

is it possible to move the donation bar ontop of the SB?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think you'd need to change execution order of some of the plugins.

Fillip

PjDaBadMan 03-04-2010 07:11 PM

i still cant figure out how to change the location of the DB

DragonByte Tech 03-04-2010 08:11 PM

You'd be best off asking the author of the Donation mod, I'm not entirely sure how the two mods' locations affect eachother.

Fillip

PjDaBadMan 03-04-2010 10:06 PM

yea i asked in the thread but no reply yet..

sebil 03-04-2010 11:24 PM

awesomee :)

DimOK 03-08-2010 08:56 PM

When quickly hitting 'Enter' several times, message also got send several times, you better block in someway, so multiple enter hit won't lead to multiple messages... Or you might want to implement it server side, not adding messages which are similar to last posted...
