Tagged interesting but people on VB4 seem to be reporting loads of errors... Has anyone actually installed it sucessfully and had it workable on VB4?

I took the plunge last night and was able to successfully install the mod. I did have a problem with the CMS bug, but I used the fix that was posted on page2? if i remember right. Other then that I haven't had a problem with it.

zombietom 01-08-2010 04:44 PM

I updated and it killed my site ..i'm running 3.7..it seemed to work pretty good but if you try to connect your facebook account you get DB error...trying to get my site back now ..wish me luck...It looks like i have got my site back but ...running really slow at the moment.
Hope there is a quick fix as the idea of this mod is great

Update: Nope it totally killed my site can't even get to cpanel :(

This was the start of trouble for me
Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Unable to save result set in [path]/includes/class_core.php on line 408

got my site back ATM but still slow

What is the best way to uninstalled this version and then reinstall the old version..seems anything i do causes DB errors ..I think it is the iframe causing most of the problems
Thanks

UPDATE
Here is my DB error and it is coming from the core.php file

"mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Too
many connections
/home/mysite/public_html/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 311"

Just trying to help you find what is causing the problem..hope you can fix as this MOD is a popular one with my users.

I upgraded this and it works like a charm, I found no errors instead of "Fun: Fans List" but it doesn't matter, you can disable it in admin cp. :)

kall 01-08-2010 05:00 PM

Good to see this coming out for vB4.

Quick question: For existing (registered) members, can they not log in using FB? I was able to use that feature with both of the other FB bridges, but this one appears to not recognise that I have an account.

*edit* A bit of a play reveals that Existing members *can* login using Facebook, but only from their profile (if they are already logged in, in other words). If they are logged out, and click the FB button, then click Login, they get the 'No account found' error and are directed to Register.

zombietom 01-08-2010 05:26 PM

Ok, i did a uninstall and reinstalled the old version 2.2.5 ...if you get the 3.0 version solved i would love to update to it.
Only thing i find wrong in the 2.2.5 version is that once you save your settings in usercp , they reset after a few minutes and revert back to "sleeping" or "do nothing"
I'm running 3.7.1 of VB and have no plans to update to 4.0.. maybe 3.8 in time but not anytime soon.

Thanks for your support.

KristerSwe 01-08-2010 05:31 PM

Request for special permissions
You must be logged in to Facebook to use this feature.And the connect button does not appear in the navbar, other than all that it works ;

Hope someone can help ?

Nadeemjp 01-08-2010 09:35 PM

so mr paint i have upgraded to this latest version on my 3.8 version. does this mean that when i am upgrading to vb4, i dont have to disable this hack and it will work with it as well?

scottjames84 01-08-2010 09:39 PM

Love this mod.

Small problem though; internet explorer users cannot connect using this mod; not sure if anybody else has seen this problem since most of you are on the better browsers.

Awesome! Is there a way to put a large "Connect with Facebook" button right underneath the username/password area for more visibility?

I tried but it wouldn't show up.

ViciousCode 01-08-2010 11:37 PM

Dude. Serious? :(

Hop on a plane and come over here. No blocks in NZ! :p

It doesn't make sense that Aussie is blocked.. are you connecting through another country or something?

Ocean-Wonders 01-09-2010 07:07 AM

Love the idea, but im going to wait until these bugs are sorted out.

Tagged for the future ;)

found out why, it was because of my hometown, apparently it's a crime to set Tehran as hometown

That is a server issue, not an app issue. Forward that to your host.

Zaiaku 01-09-2010 03:04 PM

Has anyone got this running on vb4 gold without any problems currently?

bluerob 01-09-2010 03:10 PM

Yes, working fine for me on vb4 gold :)

Primal-IRL 01-09-2010 03:26 PM

Installed and working fine on VB4.0 Gold Publishing Suite. Very nice plugin thanks.

Would be interested now in modifying the registration page to make the facebook connect button more clear to them. Will take a look into it when I get a chance. Very nice work though. Hope the small bugs get fixed some time

Zaiaku 01-09-2010 06:48 PM

Currently testing (yes I bacc up first) So far is seems to be running smoothly (install intructions could be a little better).

How do you remove the "share with facebook" on postbit? - Nevermind found that opton! That just was making things just ugly!

So far working pretty good.

Please go to your AdminCP, go to Edit Settings under Facebook Bridge. Scroll down until you reach "Display Elements", uncheck the one named "Share button in Posts" and you are done! :D

i have this error onto my brand new 4.0 suite ...

and also ...

Code:

unfortunately there are too many error ... what can i do?

mrpaint 01-09-2010 07:26 PM

Maybe you guys haven't noticed yet but a new version of YAFB has just been released :D
This version focuses on fixing minor bugs which are reported in this thread earlier. The script is now smart enough to switch to a less secure way to run and prevent this kind of error messages

Code:

Warning: tempnam() [function.tempnam]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File() is not within the allowed path(s): (/some/path/) in [path]/includes/class_upload.php on line 275

Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Filename cannot be empty in [path]/includes/class_upload.php on line 281

Another addition is the navbar link will now display on both CMS and Blog if they are installed

Ahh, talking about Blog, who has Blog on your site should check this Add-On: Publish Blogs to Facebook. It's still in beta stage (the primary purpose is for demonstration) but it works like a charm (try it now on the vBulletin 4 demo board!)

Regards,

Zaiaku 01-09-2010 07:27 PM

Installed on 2 heavily modded and custom moded vb4 Gold PL1 boards. Installation went through smoothly. I did get 1 error but that fixed itself fast. To anyone using this mod new members should not have any problems. Any already register members should probably wait about 5mins after connecting their accounts this is because of the intergration updating and becuase of the default enabled settings. After that you should be good to go with no problem. As I said I installed in on 2 active live boards smoothly.

For me this is not MOTH its MFMOTMFM!

aj8690 01-09-2010 07:49 PM
