painful is the right word.

Is there an agenda to make people think 3.6 is much slower than 4 I wonder?

The Geek 01-04-2010 09:20 PM

Step 1: Replace dev team
Step 2: Jack up prices
Step 3: Jack up queries
Step 4: Ruffle up the code
Step 5: Release with record number of bugs
Step 6: Kill off .org
Step 7: BB sells recently purchased shares in IPB and makes millions. vB is exclusive to IB sites.

I have to agree, it's really slow >_>. *shrugs*, I really hope this will be resolved as soon as possible.

KevinL 01-05-2010 03:29 PM

I like feeling like I am back in the early 90's with dial-up...

RedWingFan 01-05-2010 05:55 PM

It's been slow for me as well.

It's probably due to 30,000+ members asking when their favorite modification is going to be released for 4.0. ;) Or the other dozen of us clamoring for Sphinx search... :erm:

I KNEW it! It always comes down to the dilithium crystals. :D

Dervish-Dancer 01-05-2010 08:14 PM

Needs more server juice for 4.0 launch I suppose... super slow for me also

Delifed 01-05-2010 10:53 PM

yea it been epicly slow.

Mike Anime 01-06-2010 01:51 AM

yea whats up with how slow everything is here latley?

JakeS 01-06-2010 06:47 AM

Don't I feel like the lucky sod? xD.

I browse this forum regularly (as a guest, just to see what's happening (Though I don't like the look of vB4 :| gave the beta a test run though) (If I use vB again at some point (phpBB for now, not due to anything against vB, just generally have nothing to use vB on at the mo) it'll be 3.x for now.) and to be honest, I haven't noticed any slowdowns what-so-ever, it's loading perfectly quick for me now also :|

But to be honest, if you guys are having so many probs with the vB Server, could you not revert vB.org back to how it was "way back when" eg, standalone? meaning, on it's own servers? though may have some legal stuff to deal with first which could take a while.

PS: Yes, tired when writing this, would explain the little bit messy post.

Paul M 01-06-2010 09:37 AM

Its not too bad atm.

Same here... today is much better the last 2-3 days though was.......

.....

wait....

......

lol but good to be speeding around here much faster although considering I have forgotten how to type it was nice to be able to edit something after hitting save or submit to see my change hold as the loading image was up for a while... the ONLY thing I will miss about the slowness

MikeWarner 01-06-2010 12:27 PM

Lol - I actually looked for a thread in this topic already. It is very very slow for me - I;m sure this is because of more people being on here upgrading sites to vB4 or in preparation for it - like myself.

TheLastSuperman 01-06-2010 03:11 PM

At least we are still up

No it's not, today the site has been running like normal on my end.

TheLastSuperman 01-08-2010 03:12 AM

I say... it might be the unread post feature that was uptop near your notifications that was removed earlier when the board was down for a bit?

;) but not 100% on that :p

Paul M 01-08-2010 08:19 AM

No, thats not the cause ;)

However, I did turn it off earlier why I was testing the slave configuration, you can turn it back on in your usercp > options if you want it. :)

ok ok lol I was kidding but did notice it gone and no I will leave it off, I know there's a WHOLE lot of posts on here still to read and a daily remind that I'm still behind is not for me :D

Always so much to learn with so little time on the .org is what I mean ;)

Well done Team VB.org! Nice and speedy again!

Paul M 01-09-2010 03:38 PM

While its always nice to be praised, we did nothing. The servers are controlled by IB, and they sorted the issues out. :)

The silence from staff here on the matter was telling, it was pretty obvious that it was out of your hands.

Aurore 01-13-2010 09:36 AM

The site speed is fine on my side

Digital Jedi 01-14-2010 08:21 AM

This may seem off topic, but if you do a search of this this section for "Slow" (Search Titles Only), then you'll find one of these threads posted at least once every year since 2001 (with a notable skip in 2005). I guess folks tend to forget that websites don't run at full speed, 100% of the time. Especially large boards.

The Geek 01-14-2010 08:34 AM

WHew. I though if you did a search for slow, most of my posts would show up :P

youradhere4222 01-24-2010 02:43 AM

Pages at vb.com and .org have been taking 10-15 seconds to load for the past few hours.

Vaupell 01-24-2010 07:12 AM

right now its "fine" but last night, well a couple of minuttes pr page..
