not sure what you mean ?

Where to start as in where do you get Flashchat 6? if so ........ http://www.tufat.com/

If its the product then import as normal through admin cp

Debbi 04-04-2010 02:13 AM

This is a great add on. Works perfectl,y and every question I had was answered in this thread. Thanks so much.

Rakehel 04-11-2010 12:22 PM

We're still using vB 3.85 because we're waiting for a new skin. I've installed Flashchat 6 because we like to remain current with this program.

Is there any method for making this mod work for Flashchat 6 on vB 3.85?

Paul M 04-11-2010 01:32 PM

Nope, but afaik, my Flashchat 5 mods (for 3.8) will work on Flashchat 6.

Rakehel 04-13-2010 08:27 PM

Thank you for pointing out the fix Paul. The v3.8.002 for Flashchat 5 does appear to work with Flashchat 6 and vB 3.8.5.

We'd just given up on another chat program and decided to return to Flashchat and this feature is definitely critical.

basilrath 04-17-2010 05:02 PM

Just as a little information the display of "who is chatting" in the chat room in the whats on section can be re-worked to display on the forumhome - top right / left etc.

The reason i have done this was the simple fact it seemed the members (lazy as ever) will not scroll or look at full sites pages, which with location of the whats on being low down as default.

I reworked it to the way it is done in the attached picture and with the flashing icon - and yes people are using the Chat area more frequently and have commented on the fact they can see it more easily. This is just to let people know it can be done.

it can be seen here providing the chatroom is being used........ http://www.tabletennistalk.co.uk/forum/forum.php

Hi Paul

Thanks for continuing with these mods, even though you don't use Flashchat yourself.

In a previous version of this mod there was some discussion about showing the link in the navbar with the total amount of chatters with it, eg "Flashchat (11)".

This was previously done by changing the hook one of the plugins used from forumhome_start to global_start, and using $totalchatters as the variable in the navbar. Is this still the case, as I haven't been able to get it to work yet?

Thanks

basilrath 04-27-2010 10:49 AM

Sadly i tried the hook changes and using the $totalchatters variable but the mod wont work without changes to the display chatters template and changing the hook to navbar, which removes it from the "whats on" box and then replaces it into the navbar like my dump above, with an image flashing aswell as the member names in the chat.

Nope, that functionality was little used and removed in the vb4 version as it could not be done quite as easily.

AndyP 04-28-2010 01:12 AM

Thanks guys.

I've ended up hacking the navbar code to put a link to the chat as a navtab. The members will just have to do without knowing how many are in there, or go to the front page.

hubba 04-28-2010 06:02 PM

I want to move up a part of the Whats going on. Online Users AND the Chatters online should be under the navbar. Any idea how I have to change the template Forumhome?

basilrath 04-28-2010 09:19 PM

Ok hubba all fixed for you ................... :)

Verionia 04-30-2010 12:54 AM

Can you make it as a forum sideblock?

basilrath 04-30-2010 09:20 AM

The hack would have to be re written for it to work within a sidebar but works very well as the picture shows in post #48 with the flashing icon and members displayed.

That would need a new modification to be released, and tbh, I havent seen enough demand for such a release - in fact, you may be the first person to ask.

That is not true ... :D

Paul M 05-01-2010 01:16 PM

LOL, well I did say "may" ;)

Looks like the second then. :)

hubba 05-01-2010 01:32 PM

Paul, it its true, if the chat display sits down under the forum everone has to scroll down all 2 minutes to have a look. If it ist above the forums ist better, basilraths solution is very good. With the former hacks we could teke the variable and put it anywhere, as I am using VBCMS I put it it in their online module leftside.

Greets peter

basilrath 05-18-2010 06:38 PM

beatyourtruck 07-01-2010 01:14 AM

Feature Request
---------------------

Hi paul, would there be anyway of displaying the guest names from chat in your forum hack.
I added a .gif icon to the hack from here for some fun, which still works when a guest is in the room.
Hower there is no name displayed but the icon works to say people are there.
Maybe even just a counter would suffice.

Grate mod by the way and keep up the good work

Taz

Paul M 07-22-2010 04:54 PM

Guest names ?

TazDevilLooney 07-22-2010 09:48 PM

Yes, I'm running flash chat 6.0.8 but the guest names don't apear in mod, the registed users do but not guests.

This is using the flash intergration of course. I'm using flashchat to accept guests and registed users.

Thankyou Taz

Paul M 07-24-2010 06:07 PM

Integration prevents guests by definition, so you cannot be using it.

Paul M 10-22-2010 02:50 PM

Fixed for vb 4.0.8 WGO style changes in latest release.

Hippy 10-22-2010 07:17 PM

thanks

basilrath 10-26-2010 08:36 AM

The mod can easily be changed now to reflect the users in chatroom as shown in the image below.................... tends to make it more "member prominant" with flashing icon too

Let me know if you would like this

you can use the login - username: mail-test

what area do you want the "online chatters" adding to specifically

I have sent you a pm with the relevant codelines and a zip folder link

Pm me your details if you have a problem and ill add it asap

Dave

Paul M 01-02-2011 10:34 PM

Important Note:

I no longer use Flashchat (and havent for over 18 months).

The development and support of Flashchat at Tufat.com appears to have died in 2010 - the site owner has not been seen for almost a year, and even the developer who took over F/C version 6 has not logged in for at least two months. The last [beta] version was 6.0.8, released in June 2010.

Therefore after almost 6 years of supporting Flashchat Integration with vBulletin, I have decided I can no longer support my Flashchat modifications. I do not have it installed on my test sites anymore.

Anyone who wishes can of course continue to use them, and they should continue to work quite happily in 4.1 [for the moment]. However, any future issues caused by vb style or code changes may break them, and will most likely remain unfixed.

marinelife 01-02-2011 10:48 PM

What chat software do you use and will have mods for if any?

Paul M 01-02-2011 11:20 PM

I dont use any.

So Vbulletin will not get behind another chat and integrate it into 4.x? A lot of us would love to see it happen.
