Why Gold? What it's mean? What's main different?

I have read a number of articles about utilizing a 'tag cloud', and it placing you at risk of keyword stuffing.

How do you turn off the tag cloud and/or where to find it in your directory.

I was thinking, is vb4 really gold with the php5 issue that has been around for over a year now? Do they intend on ever fixing it? I already purchased my first xenforo license and am considering doing all my sites with it because I bought this as gold and it has issues (double posting being my main issue) and the damn fix still hasn't been made yet but I keep on seeing releases for their vb5 version. Xenforo is looking better and better every day!

Well, this thread is going on five years old now, and vB4.0 was hardly gold material back then - PHP 5.4 and 5.5. was not among the issues back then, of course.

What I really wonder is why this thread is still open and even a sticky, almost 5 years after the release it is about, and god knows how many bugfix releases later. I really can't imagine there's still much need for discussion of the vB4 gold release. But that's not for me to decide :)

I realize this thread is that old, lol. I posted in this thread hoping it would get someones attention. The issue with php5 and vb4 was reported like a year and half ago or longer. It has been an issue for me now for over a year and yet the issue hasn't been fixed. We have been told for over a year that it is being worked on and would be corrected. That is clearly not what is happening and I want to ensure as many people realize that vBulletin has simply said "fu#$ it" in regards to vb4 and this issue. They have released many fixes and even new versions for vb5 since this issue had first been reported but still we sit here waiting for our fix. I will never buy another vb product again and am telling everyone i know what this company has done in relation to this issue. If they don't give a ++++ about their customers who have held licenses for 12 years, then they sure as hell won't be seeing another penny of mine. vBulletin was awesome when it was owned by jelsoft and has turned into a circus event since these new assclowns acquired it. vBulletin is now a friggen joke!

Basically, you're in the wrong forum for that - if anyone that really matters reads anything that customers write, then it will be at vbulletin.com, not here. But honestly, if you're trying to get anyone important's attention for customer wishes - good luck with that.

I have posted on vb several times and have sent them several messages. The answer has been the same since I started asking over a year ago, "we are working on it". What they are doing is pushing it under the rug and will eventually call vb4 as too old to keep working on and we will all be screwed. I would upgrade to vb5 except its owned by the same losers and its a piece of trash! I could accomplish the same nonsense vb5 is with a customized version of wordpress, except the wordpress would have more features and better seo. lol

Yes this talk been going on on Vb for a long time I got many promises on functions that never worked before they swapped to 5.0 and they say move to there is better. Thank you for letting me know that the VB4 have 5.5 issues I did not know, now I know why my server is ++++ed up.

I'm pretty happy with my VB4 implementation. It's customized with several mostly DragonByte modifications and I don't think that competing alternatives are really better right now. We had a double posting issue for a while and that no longer happens. I'm not sure if it was the upgrade to 4.2.2, putting stuff on a faster server or disabling of some mods that were previously running.
