Anyway, there seems to be another issue (also one I can do nothing about): there might be a read marking problem if there are more than one page of new discussion entries. I have now had members of my board experience this for the first time, and due to increased traffic in groups (because of the notifications :)) they had more than one page of new entries. Since there were no changes to the system, I'm pretty sure this will be true for vB4, too.

Anyway, to resolve this if it happens, my users had to use the groups->individual group page->group tools->mark this group read. This worked. Going throug unread discussions or marking individual discussions read will not, since read marking for discussions and groups runs seperately.

Is this mod DOA, or is there a workaround that won't confuse users, or??? I'd really like to use this, but so far can't get it to EVER show less than 1 notification. (Even manually marking group posts "read".)

Please advise.

I'm sorry to hear that this mod does not work for you - for about 150 other installations it does, so no, it's not DOA. I'm also sorry I can't give you furhter assistance - the current read-marking-system vB uses is far from perfect, and obviously there's something interfering at your site.

Sorry, at this time this mod is offered as-is. I just don't have the time to look into it further. It works on my own forums perfectly well.

The only thing I see a problem with is that even after you read all the new messages, you still get a notification? The notification is not clearing on my site.

Is this problem with notifications not clearing fixed now? I would love to use this mod as I need some sort of notification system for my users when there is a new post in a group area.

You need to try. Some users seem to have it, some don't. I had it on one forum for a short time in the beginning, then it seems to have vanished. Sorry there's not more I can tell you.

I have install it and its working perfect , i was waiting for this mod for a long long time.

I have only one question to make please.
Some users receiving notification that there is something in one of the social group they are a memmber , but when they go there there is nothing new to dead or see , but they still have the message that there is a meessage new.

Why this is happening ?

Could they be from groups that were the user was previously a member of, but no longer is?

I understand that it cant be fixed without rewriting social groups function in vbulletin. The only thing that can be done is vote for the function in vbulletins tracker:

@Alfa1 is there way how list "My Social Groups" ?

i assume it's not (one of these social groups missing features)
as if it is i would use it as custom URL instead of unread Social group messages

atm. users are complaining they unable to figure out what messages from which group are reason of the notify

Should my forum have that "Notifications" tab? I don't have one on my board and I am using the default theme. All I have is "inbox". Not sure if that why its not showing the group notices for me?

Yes I have the same problem and I'm using Vb 4.2.3 ver
If we click on the button (xGroup) in the notification Tab (was better was wrote "x Groups Discussions")

we go to group.php

so no new thread are shown.

Can you please help us? Maybe is a bug for this version of Vb.

I don't have this product installed, but I would first check this setting:

"To set this, go to AdminCP->Settings->Options->General Settings->Thread/Forum Read Marking Type and set this to the third option: Database (automatic forum marking)"

I am running into the same problem where it shows the notification but clicking on it goes to the group page and doesn't easily show which group the notification is for.

Running 4.2.2 as well. The Thread/Forum Read Marking is set to Database.

vB does not track unread discussions. It only tracks unread groups: Meaning there is no way to show unread discussions for a given user. (At least it was that way when this addon was coded, and I am not aware of fundamental changes to this system).

This addon does all that is possible - you have the design limits imposed by IB to thank for the limits.
