Please post your URL, or PM me it if you dont want it public.
Three of these issues were all related to HTML in the Description / Title tags. If you have this, you will have to wait until I release 0.02 later this evening. Probably within the next hour or so. |
I pm you addy and account info for you
Eric |
^^ Got it. Your issue is the HTML in the Description of one of your forums, specifically the image banner you have showing. I have coded a work around for this.
|
kyle: thx for the feedback! Where abouts do you find the scroll to be sluggish? The whole app? Regarding the private forums; are we talking password protected forums or forums with different permissions?
|
removrd the banner for now thanks... also why are post oldest first and how to change
|
Itchy Nips: I figured out that your issue is that your ICON is not 80x80 pixel, thus it is messing up my Image resize algorithm. I fixed the algo to watch for this so the APP doesn't give the null exception. That will be out in the next app update tonight.
|
Eric Anderson: The newest posts should actually be shown first. I know this is kind of "backwords" when you are used to viewing vBulletin, but when you have a thread that is several pages long (say 50 pages long) I typically didnt' want to start at page 1 and have to goto page 50. Instead, I flipped it and show the newest post first and work backwards.
I plan to make that user selectable (and will add it to the list of requested features), however, right now this is how it functions. |
Wow the screen caps look great. I may just get my BB turned back on to help test this beta.
|
footose login then go to members selling parts the first on listed is from 2005 should have said threads oldest first
|
Ahh yes, I see what you are saying. That is not right.
|
plus under vmax-4 750 then carbs there isnt anything there is that because it is a picture?
|
how about 8900 Curve ?
|
error :
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: End tag does not match start tag 'br' |
Yes the whole app the scrolling seems slow/spongy. Compared to mail, viigo and other apps.
The private forums I was talking about were forums that are hidden to most users but normally appear when you login. For example on our site we have a admin forum where the mods and etc discuss things. This is not visible unless you are a mod or admin and logged in. Quote:

I had similar error and it was an image. difference was at the end of error "start tag 'img' " I removed the image for now and no error footose is going to release another version that addresses html in forum descriptions |

The Hidden forums work good for me. I see all my admin forums and such. Are you sure that you are logged in properly? I know sometimes I mis-type my password. Maybe I will make a function that "checks" your login ? Let me know if it was a login issue or if it's not showing like you mentioned. |

and now finish after remove all HTML CODE in FORUM DESCRIPTION ------ new error after login and SUBMIT NEW THREAD i cant see new thread post in my forum why ? |
Yes it was the login issue, its working now. Sorry for the confusion.
The sluggishness is odd and the tour is not a slow phone. Maybe just a minor graphics glitch. Quote:

Ok I've uploaded the FIXES:
BerryBlab 0.02 / 0.85 - Nov 12, 2009 - Fixed HTML in forum titles and descriptions causing SAX error - Fixed "More" on Subscriptions not working - Fixed Images not resizing properly, causing NULL error on the BlackBerry When you restart BerryBlab it should prompt you to download the latest version - I would suggest you CLEAR your browsers cache before downloading the latest. If it doesn't prompt you, grab it from here: http://www.BerryBlab.com/beta/BerryBlab.jad The version should be .85 on the BlackBerry App and 0.02 on the vB plugin. REMEMBER: Don't overwrite your config / image file (not that they were hard to make) :D |
I may hit bed in about an hour, so any questions may have to get answered tomorrow. cheers
|
Great work so far footose!
Keeping my eyes on this one! :D |

image file is img.php ? |
^^ No, forum_large_icon.png ..
img.php is just some function file. i should probably rename that so people don't get confused. |

I'll check it out for ya today.
|
kawe: did you install the latest version of the plugin on your forum? It should take care of the problem.
|
the update (0.02) seems to have fixed that java error. I was able to add my forum. I'll let you know if I come across any other errors. If this works, you can add OS 5 to your "tested" blackberry os versions (at least for Bold 9000) lol
|
Cheers, thanks.
|
not an error but when I tried opening berryblab, it sat there for about 30 seconds (cant move the trackball or press anything - as if the phone froze), then it finally opened.
|
Itchy: I just tried your site on my Bold, and it loads fairly fast.(5 seconds or less).. You may wish to update your icon file. Make sure its 80x80 saved as PNG, BerryBlab will search for this file, and if its not there it may take a while to process whats going on.
I was at full network connectivity when this was happening. if you are not, it make take longer to download your image / site info. |
Congrats on this awesome aps.
We installed and tested it successfully at http://www.quantnet.com/forum/ Suggestions: 1) The field where people add forum, enter username, pass should be highlighted or colored differently so they know it's an input field. Just simple interface issue. 2) Is it possible to get pushed notification when the forum got new posts, new PM, etc 3) The postbit display: the BB code does not get parsed correctly. It still shows bbcode tags e.x instead of link to that site. Same for other tags like U, B, I 4) What features admin have? This does seem to gear towards normal users. 5) What is the speed of this app compared to regular browser via a mobile style? I don't notice any faster loading time. Question: 1) What is your plan for this? Do you plan to make money out of this? 2) Can we host the .jab on our server? It's easier to tell our user to install from our site for security reason. 3) Maybe a small fee for branding free? 4) I know there are apps for iPhone (PalkTalk?), but do you have any plan to offer similar aps for iPhone, Android? It would make more sense for us than to use separate apps. Again, a job well done. |
Still no luck on it opening in Bold 9000 on ATT.
|
^^ Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
I am working on the interface as I go, so there will be a lot of updates in that regards. I've added your suggestions to the "feature requests" field and will get to them. I'm trying to design the interface so that when I code it for the Storm there won't be much work in doing so. Right now, I wanted to get "base functionality" down and work out bugs, then work on the GUI. I've already started coding some error checking (like when adding a URL you wont have to put HTTP:// and stuff like that) for the next release. I do plan on adding push notification when a forum gets new posts / pm's as well. That will be coming very soon and is absolutely on the top of my list. Regarding your questions for my "plan" - I don't want to give away my business strategy, but this is what I can tell you: Any forum Administrator that Beta Test's this software on their site (basically everyone in this thread that has offered feedback and posted their URL either in PM or on here) will receive the released version of the app for FREE for their personal use. That way, if i decide to sell the app, at least you get SOMETHING for your time in helping me out. I have several modifications on this forum, one of the major ones is http://www.vHoist.com - which is completely free - so you can take my word on that. I will also be offering an Affiliate program, which I will talk about closer to the RC. Regarding hosting the JAD file: This is not possible since the App has an auto-update feature, it needs to be hosted in a Central location. When the App is setup for release, I will make a easy URL your users can add. I wouldn't recommend giving it to your general population until we have at least a release candidate. Branding: I will most definitely be doing Branding on this App at some point, although I haven't decided how to do it yet. I want to concentrate on the general user / administrator, since it's people like this that make these App's possible. If you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask. |
SVTCobraLTD: Did you check my APN suggestion earlier? What is the error you are getting (if any).
|
Oh ... and I plan on adding Admin / Mod functions also.
Slow and Steady :) |
