I just double checked and it looks like their code is still working, you have to be logged into FB then it should pick up the URL and some of the post as well. What displays when you click on submit?

Eruantien 08-21-2009 01:01 PM

I just installed this mod and I'm wondering the same thing.

The only way I've been able to get a hash tag IE: #vb or #tcot into a tweet is to put it in the Thread/Post Title box. It makes the thread/post titles look weird and I'm not sure how that will affect vBSEO. I think I'm going to have to uninstall for now. Otherewise, this is a nice mod!

Joseph Witchard 10-17-2009 04:51 AM

Will this mod be updated for vBulletin 4? Also, is there supposed to be a line through the box next to the social buttons that says "View First Unread"? There's a line through it on mine.

dengbej 10-17-2009 09:49 AM

thanks. i installed

I think you are right, it would have to be added manually upon submission. All this really does is setup the post for the form on their end. However, it's easy enough to change it once it's in the form.

I have no idea how vB4 is setup but I'm sure this will be easy enough to add to it.

But you are planning on keeping it going?

shinng 10-25-2009 05:05 PM

when submitting via 'tweet this', it is not automatically shortening the url. What is the code I need to add/change?

It does, it has to be submitted before you see the shortened URL.

mykkal 11-05-2009 06:22 AM

Hey guys i run a forum using VBSEO. The urls are longer than normal vbulletin links. and usually leave me with little room to add text to the tweet.

of course twitter shortens the url. is there any way to do this automatically before the tweet is constructed?
Click here actually visit the link and you can see for yourself :)

An example of a normail url on MyModelTalk is below:
Code:

http://www.mymodeltalk.com/jobs/model-castings-acting-auditions-atlanta-metro-ga/376445-final-casting-2010-calendar-shoot.html

and also you must upload twitter.png to images folder to ftp ;)

UltraFanatics 11-22-2009 11:44 AM

Facebook modification works perfect!!

The only issue I have is that when you hover on the image it all goes completley blue, where in Main CSS do I change this? You can see it here for example when you attempt to click on it http://www.mytattooforum.com/tattoo-...-tattooed.html

That's the default behavior of the javascript from FB that causes that, I'm not sure if you can change it but have a look here for some options http://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets/share.php

Twitter will automatically translate the URL and make it shorter.

MotMann 01-17-2010 01:59 PM

That is the Problem:

that's the Text:
PHP Code:

Ope... http://www.xboxgamertag.de/f149-cheats-tipps-tricks-achievements/11165-operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-codes-zusatzmissionen.html

To long the url.

scott_gersforum 01-22-2010 04:09 PM

When I submit a thread to FaceBook it's not taking the threat title - just the forum URL so people dont know what the post is about.
Seems okay on Twitter but not FaceBook.
Can this be fixed?

naz7 02-04-2010 06:27 AM

This is good mod.

But i'm having 1 problem.

i created a facebook Page, when i clicked on share on facebook, the thread will be posted to my profile, NOT my page.

How can i direct the posting to my page?

benative 02-19-2010 02:52 AM

How can i have this one on VB 4.0.1? NOT DROP DOWN one! I want this! I love how people can find this buttons easily! please help!

MotMann 02-25-2010 03:09 PM

Whar i must do, that the Post on Facebook will be shorten and a Link goes to my Board?

Now, the complete Thread will be displayed on Facebook.. thats not good f?r google and co.

Need help :)

cbiweb 03-09-2010 11:59 AM

Very nice mod. I have one question though, coming from a user:

Quote:

When I click "Tweet This" to tweet a thread it tweets a link to the last post in the thread. Is there any way to change this, so that it tweets the link to the first post in the thread?
Also is there a way to customize the buttons further? I know they work off scripts that are on the servers of each site, but are there any other options?

Thanks.

Joseph Witchard 03-14-2010 06:01 PM

Does this work for VB 3.8.5?

cbiweb 03-16-2010 11:08 AM

A user in one of my forums has the following request regarding the Tweet This button:
Quote:

I think it would be good if you add URL shortener, because when someone tweets about the thread by clicking the buttons, then most of the part of the tweet is taken by the long URLs.
Is it possible to implement this?

Is it possible for the coder of this mod to reply to our posts?

rsuplido 03-25-2010 01:02 AM

Thanks for this! Any way to add Google Buzz?

When you tweet, it automatically shortens the URL. It may not be outwardly obvious but after submission it defaults to their tinyurl (or whatever it is they use).

cbiweb 04-01-2010 02:26 PM

Thanks for the reply, eric. :) That's good that it does that after submissions, but if the user wants to add to the default tweet, the long URL takes away from the character limit. Is there a way around this, or possible to modify this mod to help with that issue?

Ahh.. I see what you mean, talk about robbery! Since this is a basic template mod it's not possible, however a user can always go to http://tinyurl.com/ put in their long URL and let it shrink it down for them before they post, that would probably do the trick.

demonfatal 04-07-2010 04:43 PM

This will be usefull for the coder:

For shorten the URL:::

Code:

$tinylink=file_get_contents('http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=http://'.$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'].'');
Code:

<?php
$tinylink=file_get_contents('http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=http://'.$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'].'');
echo '<a href="http://twitter.com/home?status='.$tinylink.'>Tweet This!</a>';
?>
