i did, but with tht mod "New ReplyThread Look" it fixes it automatically,
The below code makes everything normal for ReplyThread, can u convert this to NewThread? Cause i already hav it to 600px
Code:

Not sure what is different as the Newreply mod was made from my mod, nothing has changed since.

As I said, try this:
Quote:

Please press Install.

JamesC70 07-16-2009 11:05 PM

Change the column percentages to fixed pixels. The "editor box on left" code earlier in this thread has comments to help you find where to make these adjustments:

Code:

<td width="50%" align="center" class="alt1"><!-- set editing column width -->
Adjust the "50%" to a pixel value roughly 2/3 of the width of your style. Then, go further down the template and adjust the other side:

Code:

<td width="50%" class="alt2" valign="top"><!-- set options column width -->
Adjust this to roughly 1/3 of the width of your style.

So, for example, if your style is fixed at 800px wide, set the first one for 533px and the second one for 267px:
Code:

<td width="533px" for the first value
<td width="267px" for the second value

Adjust the px values until you're satisfied with the column widths. If necessary, adjust the editor box as well:
Quote:

[OPTIONAL CHANGE]
Open Style Manager -> xx Your Style Here xx -> StyleVars -> Message Area Width
Change this to somewhere in the 330-400 range, then adjust as desired.

Please press Install.

I have a white space at the top of my editor that I would like to remove and move the editor up, When I load the page I can see it there and then when the page loads it drops down. See attachment. Looking for a fix to move it to the top. I have the newreply mod installed as well and it works great.

Add valign="top", as noted in Post 6:

Code:

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
    <td class="tcat" colspan="2">

    </td>
    <tr>
        <td width="335px" valign="top" class="alt2">

Please click Installed. :rolleyes:

Saint_I_Am 07-18-2009 09:47 PM

Sorry, marked as installed.

I tried this but when you reload it you can see it there and when the page finishes loading the whole lot drops back down. I don't know why it's doing that.

JamesC70 07-18-2009 11:19 PM

A quick followup... after conferring with Saint_I_Am privately, his problem is solved.

When reversing the boxes (message editor on the left, options on the right), a valign="top" can be added as shown:

Code:

<tr>
  <td align="center" valign="top" width="50%" class="alt1">
  <div style="width:$stylevar[formwidth]" align="$stylevar[left]">
  $usernamecode
  $human_verify
  <!-- subject field -->

Thanks James.

I had to remove $usernamecode from that code as it displayed "Logged in as ***" twice.

Just a minor thing with that code. See attachment. At the top of tags box there is a small box. Not sure how to remove this.

Please verify that the center part of newthread template looks like this:

Code:

I suspect that an extra <td> </td> pair or an extra <div> </div> pair got into your template. Remove that (verifying against the code above) and you'll be fine.

nyqnzguju999 07-19-2009 11:25 PM

is it possible to have a direct browse button in attachments?

lordtopcat 07-19-2009 11:56 PM

What do you mean ?

nyqnzguju999 07-20-2009 12:05 AM

For attachments have the browse button rather then a popup

The attachment of uploads is a different script than posting the message text. I'm hesitant to try to merge the two, as the vBulletin authors kept the code seperate for a reason. :(

I have tried everything to get this to align properly, but still struggling.
I think it may have something to do with extra bbcode icons in message area.

In stylevars our Main table width is 972 , not 972% or 972px.
If i change to px or % the whole forum width goes haywire, so have left at 972

Form width is 540px
User cp form width 480px
Message area width is 500px
User cp message area width is 520px
code block width 540px

In newthread I have:

<td width="300px" class="alt2">
td align="center" width="600px" class="alt1">

I cannot seem to get the message area to resize ( by that I mean the as in the image )

Saint_I_Am 07-23-2009 10:20 PM

Looks like those extra icons in your editor might be causing it to stretch.

My Message area width is 600px and this is what I was changing to adjust it.

I also have this

<td width="50%" valign="top" class="alt2">

<td align="center" valign="top" width="50%" class="alt1">

TimberFloorAu 07-24-2009 01:20 AM

Cheers mate, yeah I am thinking the icons are pushing it across.

Ive tried to find out how to spill the icons onto 2 lines, but cannot seem to find that info.

Perhaps theres a means of popping out extra bb icons, im not sure.

I just found this mod...in fact only recently started using my VB board again.

This is wonderful although I need to do some tweaking to this mod and to the New Reply mod to get them to look good with my skin.

I would love to see the same mod for Editing Posts...

PS: I have bookmarked your mod so I can make donations come payday next week!

Regards,

Alisa

RTMdotORG 08-14-2009 10:47 PM

I like this ALOT!!!! THANKS!!!

But, its messing up something with the check for similar threads mod...i dunno?

EDIT- Nevermind... my bad.

RTMdotORG 08-15-2009 12:18 AM

i dont think my auto thread tag is working after adding this though...:(

christon26 08-15-2009 06:23 AM

For all those having issues with the sidebox being wide and pushing the rest out...it is the length of the Tag input box that is the culprit...I simply moved the code for the tags under the smilies box and it's all good :)

Move this entire section:

Code:

                        <if condition="$show['tag_option']">
                <fieldset class="fieldset" style="margin-top: $stylevar[cellpadding]px">
                        <legend>$vbphrase[tags]</legend>
                        <div style="padding:$stylevar[formspacer]px">
                                <div>$vbphrase[separate_tags_using_comma]</div>
                                <span id="tag_add"><input type="text" class="bginput" name="taglist" id="tag_add_input" value="$newpost[taglist]" size="40" tabindex="1" /></span>
                                <if condition="$show['tags_remain']"><div><phrase 1="$tags_remain">$vbphrase[you_may_add_x_tags_to_thread]</phrase></div></if>
                        <if condition="$show['popups']">
                                <div id="tag_add_menu" class="vbmenu_popup" style="display:none"></div>
                                <script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/vbulletin_ajax_tagsugg.js?v=$vboptions[simpleversion]"></script>
                                <script type="text/javascript">
                                <!--
                                vbmenu_register('tag_add', true);
                                tag_add_comp = new vB_AJAX_TagSuggest('tag_add_comp', 'tag_add_input', 'tag_add');
                                tag_add_comp.allow_multiple = true;
                                tag_add_comp.set_delimiters('$tag_delimiters');
                                //-->
                                </script>
                        </if>
                </fieldset>
                </if>

to just above:

Code:

$posticons
Or wherever suits you :D

**or cos I didn't even think of it...I do prefer the hard way LOL you can probably insert a width for the input box to narrow it down

Edit to add...thanx for this template change! Rude of me to forget that bit LOL

Hmmm mine is still working. Do you have any other mods installed that could be conflicting?

Should have the edit post template out sometime next week..I've had a pretty heavy work load on lately. Thank you to Alisa Lindsay for the kind donation! It really is appreciated.

Yeah, no problems on your end. I was being ignorant it looks like. :)

I love this MOD!

Another vote for the Edit version of this too, it's the only thing missing now.

Very Cool Thank You

Great mod! This looks so much nicer on my board. One question: Since many of our group members are older ladies (its for a crochet / knitting group) the small text is a little too small for some of them to read easily. Is there a way to reset the text back to a slightly larger font size?

joh 09-15-2009 04:54 PM

how would i ad this flashing light to both the tag and the attach files? and can it be in green not red?

Thanks for this mod.
I hope people will stop asking me how to post an image.

by the way can this be added to all of the other message template?

The small text is defined in your theme's CSS defintions. This mod doesn't change that, all it does is reposition the options on the screen.

I don't see a flashing light. :confused:

Lordtopcat and I both got busy with work.... we'll see if one of us can kick out an Edit Post mod in the next few days. You did see the New Post mod, right? :rolleyes:

I have both the New Thread and New Post mods and they work great! I am looking forward to the Edit Post mod.

I love this mod...it's beautiful but, is there a way to decrease the size of the post icons area? Or some way to make it so it doesn't stretch my page off to the right?

bump

Basically, I'm looking for a way to make the new stuff we coded in a little thinner so it doesn't stretch the page.

I had to temporarily uninstall due to adding a new customized skin. I'll check back occasionally and maybe reinstall it later.

The post icons display fine for me on 1024x768 with a fluid width theme. Do you have a narrower fixed theme?

Admin CP -> Styles and Templates -> "Posticons" template:

Locate:
Code:

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="95%">
Replace the value in red with a smaller number. If you go too small, the post icons won't display correctly.
