I have translated the titles/contents so posting them here won't help any I would think

the same titles are fine at times.. as for the contenets, all 4 are the same, so I don't think the title and/or the contents are the issue.

Whatever the cause I am removing this mod for the time being but since I cannot explain how this happened I do not trust it for now. I expect to revisit this in the future but this required me to remove the 2 entries via phpadmin manually and I won't risk further issues until I can determine why.

You say it created the thread, but wouldn't let anyone read it, but then you go onto say that you couldnt see it? Do you mean it created the thread but wouldn't allow anyone to view the content when the click on the thread title?

This mod doesn't have any usergroup settings. It uses your default usergroup settings. It also doesnt add any tables to your database - It just updates the default vbulletin database to add "1" onto the postcount of the user that makes the post - so im not sure what youve removed via phpmyadmin!

Just been able to re-create the error. When the member clicks on the link in their email, its not logging them in at the same time, as such the "Welcome Unregistered" message us appearing.
Im working on it at the moment.

Merjawy 06-02-2009 12:41 PM

lovely, I am glad you saw the issue.. looking forward to a fix ... Thanks

Yeah, I had 6 new singups since installed, none of them had a threads created. Maybe it's just me?

You decide on four titles and the content of four threads! You can also select the UserID's of who you want the threads to be created by. You can also select to have random post icons! - All controlled via the ACP.

Its all random. Thread title one doesnt belong to thread content one and thread title two doesnt belong to thread content two. With this mod when a member registers, thread title one may be posted with the contents of thread content four and thread title three might be posted with thread content two etc. The same goes with the UserID's and the post icon.
This is a GREAT feature!

I have like a hundred of the same titled thread because of the limitations of the old mod. I'll be installing this one tonight! :D

By the way, I created a custom field that is required to fill upon registration for the member's first name. Can we have the result from that custom field show rather than the username (or both)?

powerful_rogue 06-03-2009 12:46 PM

Hi ArnyVee, That should be possible.

Im just trying to iron out the bug regarding people using email verification and then i'll look into adding that.

ryancooper 06-03-2009 02:03 PM

I like Arnolds suggestion and I would like to knwo if anyone figured out how to make a link to the new users profile?

synseal 06-03-2009 02:20 PM

Does this conflict with the mod automatic profile commenter because since I installed this neither this or the profile commenter works.

Edit: Forget that working fine. Nice mod!,

That way my current members can quickly go to their profile and leave a visitor message for them

Ive updated the mod to v1.2.1 so you can now link the members username to their profile. To upgrade download product-welcomethread030609.xml and allow overwrite when uploading the product.

You can now set it to have messages such as
Quote:

Welcome powerful_rogue

Why not visit the profile of our new member powerful_rogue to leave a welcome message!

ryancooper 06-03-2009 06:59 PM

do you have to do anything different or will $username now automatically link to a profile?

Ive put an example in the ACP settings.
PHP Code:

[URL="$vboptions[bburl]/member.php?u=$userid"]$bbuserinfo[username][/url

Hi Merjawy,
The last release was a minor update to allow the profile to be linked to the username in the thread content.

Ive added the issue of the mod creating threads with "Unregistered" to the bug list and currently working on a fix at present, however as im new to coding its taking a little longer then normal. If a member registers and verifies their email whilst still logged in it works, however if the log out and then confirm their email address, its creating the issue of them showing as "Unregistered" as vbulletin does not auto log members in when verifying email.

The options until the bug fix is released is either

1 - Turn the mod off via the ACP
2 - Switch to the "create thead before user activation" int he mod settings. This will then create the thread before the user confirms their email address.
3 - Uninstall

Not ideal I know, however this is the only bug reported with the mod and I am working on it at present.

SuperDave71 06-04-2009 01:13 PM

Powerful,

Good morning! I have the same issue that Merjawy is having. I think the mod is a wonderful idea and I hope you can get the bug fixed. I installed the newest release and I also had the "Unregistered" is our newest member.

I really appreciate your hard work on trying to get this fix being this would be an exception addition to my forum.

I have no doubt you can get this fixed. Keep us updated and thanks!!!

This mod doesn't have any usergroup settings. It uses your default usergroup settings. It also doesnt add any tables to your database - It just updates the default vbulletin database to add "1" onto the postcount of the user that makes the post - so im not sure what youve removed via phpmyadmin!

To clarify a bit. The mod created the post. The post could not be read. It showed as a new topic in the forum but no one, including myself as administrator could read its content. I deleted the physical "post" from the database because there was simply no other way to reach it as it kept on saying I do not have enough permissions to view the post. I am sure I missed something but not sure what. I will use it again but for now I want to experiment on my test site to find out why that happened.

Still working on the fix for this bug, shouldn't be too much longer before it can be released.

Looking forward to it.

As soon as it's fixed, I'm installing this one! :D

I'm getting a little tired of having the same exact thread title happening with the other mod ;)

Bro_Joey_Gowdy 06-09-2009 07:15 AM

Interesting changes... curious - would it be possible to include a link to the new members profile in the welcome thread?

It is already possible with the latest version. :)

Bro_Joey_Gowdy 06-09-2009 02:17 PM

Downloaded and installed... nice upgrade from this one:

robdawg 06-09-2009 06:38 PM

So when we going to get the feature to send them a link to the newly created thread in a PM or email? :)

Would be nice.

Bill from Cleve 06-10-2009 03:16 AM

Heres a strange thing thats happening. It's not a conern at all, just posting the issue. Same Ip's.

With you're software I assigned a cute Admin as the defualt ID "Who wouldn't?" , but what I noticed was that every new singup that has had a thread created for them also seems to share the same IP address of her? I tried it with myself and the samething happened.
Like I said, not an issue, but something to be aware of.

ged 06-10-2009 08:57 AM

That's a very nice idea, thanks a lot! :)

Bill from Cleve 06-11-2009 03:00 AM

I installed the update, and this is what every see's when clicking on the new thread. The older version works just fine. Just giving a heads up
Any ETA for the update?

USER, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

powerful_rogue 06-11-2009 07:08 AM

The updated version should be released hopefully tomorrow.

Are the permissions set to allow new members to view threads in that forum? Ive just looked at the link in your sig and it allows me to view the threads within in welcome forum with no problem.

Yeah, all the other ones created before the updat worked great. After the update Admins couldn't even view them. No biggy, I love your app. I'll glady wait and reinstall. :p

Reece^B 06-11-2009 04:19 PM

Humm, can this be intergrated into a welcome PM?

Welcome PM to user, then stating 'we have made you a welcome thread *link* go and take a look!'

powerful_rogue 06-11-2009 08:07 PM

I would suggest using the "Send welcome PM" thats built into vbulletin and add something like this into it

Quote:

Hi $username,

Welcome to the forum!

I have created a new thread to welcome you to the forum, why not pop by and say hello!
"Welcome $username"

Use the URL to take them to the forum where the welcome threads are created.

HappyFeet 06-12-2009 01:16 AM

*Installed* Thanks!

WreckRman2 06-12-2009 02:32 AM

Just installed this but the first member to join it says this:

Unregistered is our latest member!
Unregistered! Thank you for joining
