I think your a bit confused my friend, vBulletin.org is not American.
English is not the American language, English is the Brits language, americans only shortened and messed it all up.
Americans don't use English, they use the American Language.
Saying otherwise would be a disgrace to the Brits.

The Geek 02-03-2009 10:44 AM

I think it was a piss take.

I am an American that lives in the UK (for the last 10 years) and to say that Americans shortened and messed the English language up is moronic and akin to saying that Modern English is not just a band from the 80's, its a bastardisation of Old English.

Go join the BNP.

Boy, did this thread take a turn LOL I never care much about a persons grammar or broken English. Only that I can understand the gist of what they're saying. I personally get aggravated by grammar nazi's. WTH is the purpose, other them maybe some sort of ego kick.

Back to the original topic, any updates on phpBB? They still have their maintenance page up. With temp forums, anyone surf those for updates. I'd wager its gonna be VERY difficult to restore a database like that.

Hope they have a good backup  As far as phpBB -vs- VB I wouldn't wish anything like what they're going through on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

The Portuguese have a map of the Noth American coastline dated "1424". And they named the U.S. "Antilla" So really, why cant we all speak Antillan...

Like I said earlier in this thread, these hackers love to appear cool and somewhat untouchable posting on blogs telling the world of their great achievements (which isn't really an achievement) until they are caught and prosecuted. Have you ever seen them cry when caught? Like babies being taken away from their mothers breast whilst feeding. It's hilarious when reality kicks in for them over stupid mistakes they make doing their questionable deeds online and facing the consequences in the real world.

Sorry for my bad english, I'm english.

like the Sarah Palin email hack. personally, i'm disappointed they're not bringing that guy up on charges of treason. how could hacking someone who, at that time, could have very well been the vice president, been anything other than giving aid to the enemy? he gave the password out to the world - enemies and friends alike - and he should, as such, share the same fate as, say, Robert Hanssen or Aldrich Ames.

Aclikyano 02-06-2009 02:24 AM

getting hacked sucks, happened few times on my board smh

Electing Sarah Palin is giving aid to the enemy.

Anyway, if there's any justice phplist will lose a bunch of users over it. It was some pretty atrocious code that got exploited, although I won't deny the method to expand on it was clever.

Wow this is harsh... Am I glad I am using vBulletin and not PHPBB anymore

PremierFootball 02-06-2009 03:03 PM

Why is it some people just love to cause drama?

Did you miss the many posts and info all accross the net or are you just having trouble taking in the information or maybe just ignoring it to suit you?

Maybe the post above this one may get the message accross as it's clearly marked for you to read. Save it to your pictures folder and have a look every morning for the next week just to keep it clear in your mind!

They were hacked because there was an exploit in the phpList script they were running on their server. There was not anything they could have done as the fix came out after they were hacked THROUGH phpList! The hacker then got in and had admin use of the whole site.

phpBB3 is safe and there are no known vulnerabilities in phpBB 3.0.4.

Whether you are running Vbulletin or using word files by emails with your friends, show a little respect and try gaining some facts before you put them down.

(:D That feels better!)

Stefan Esser agrees:

http://www.suspekt.org/2009/02/06/so...phpbbcom-hack/

Interestingly, I see no discussion of this at all on forums.phplist.com.

If you don't want to upgrade now, you can fix the vulnerability quickly by adding the following line to the top of the index file in the admin directory:

if (isset($_REQUEST['_SERVER'])) { exit; }

holy moly, I wont be using this phplist thing ever. (if I got it right)

We are never happy when any site is hacked. Nor do we wish something like this happens to a competitor.

PHP didn't get hacked, PHP didn't cause the site to get hacked.
PHPList did!
Get your facts right!
