the 3 guys you named started wars... you can add Bush father and son to the list... i don't think Obama's goal is to start a new war though...

personally, Washington and Lincoln were not greater men.. they were named to be great because someone wrote great stories about them, like it was done for a lot of fables... they were acclaimed by hundreds of men, not millions... nobody know for sure if they were that great...

anyway, i compare with the task to accomplish. if Obama stand in the path that he wrote, he may be a good man... that will be history... for now, the guys who say he is just another man among others have nothing to compare with, so it is pointless to bring this on the table.

iogames 01-19-2009 01:32 PM

well at least he broke the white dominance of centuries...

Ok I'm not white and not black and my kind never was imprisoned, tortured, prosecuted, discriminated, or else...
Of course I understand it as an historic moment, but it's mostly about 'redemption' that change... ;)

I think you mean persecuted... and are you sure that's true?
I mean, not just you or your community... but i know people aren't that fond of latinos.
Or maybe i've been watching too many movies

I will happily slap you and Obama with a trout :D

YOU DON'T REALIZE that you are arguing with us, your friends, we may not be perfect, we may have a grudge, different points of views, and we may sound ignorant and sometimes intolerant... but we have been here with you :) [Obama no :p]

But is not up to Obama to solve the problems of the world, and is not up to you make us love so delusional guy

p.s. I got something on my health that even Obama with his super-powers can fix, so lets go back to reality :p

I'm not trying to make you love him. I'm just trying to show you what people who admire him really see. If you only listen to the speeches, and not pay close attention to the policies, then you only get a fragmented picture of the man, and you end up mischaracterizing why people who like him, like him

The action to take when you hate it is very simple: we call that ELECTIONS... you go vote.

if you do not vote, you have no opinion...

GSeybold 01-19-2009 06:37 PM

We digress......:D

Will you be watching the Inauguration of President Elect Obama?

What happens when "no opinion" changes to "no option" from where to choose?
When that happens, a nation is completely screwed, my friend!

I am looking forward to the 2009 presidential elections from my country... who should i choose?
They're all the same and all in on it, dirty...
It doesn't matter who's the President, the wheel doesn't stop spinning here.
Pretty much like the russian president, Putin, did when a new president replaced him... his right hand.
Now, as a prime-minister, he's more active than the president, who's his puppet.

That's just my point. You don't have to like him, but you don't have to diminish the reasons or the motives as to why others do. I find that people can often be dismissive of him and especially of the people that like him, rather then point to the specific policies that they think are wrong or won't work. They just say he's being too optimistic, but they never give specifics as to what he's being too optimistic about. They generalize his rhetoric, and seldom specify what it is he's planning that won't work. It's not like he hasn't been specific.

It doesn't just fall on the americans heads, we, the british do a damn good job. Infact, I think we do a little better in screwing it up time and time again. I would rant about Gordon brown but I'd be here till next year typing about his silly policies and mistakes he's made since the forcing out of tony blair witch project.

I'm wondering how far gordon will push his nose up obamas poop scoop in the forseeable furture and then bend over backwoods on his cherry coated desk.

It will be an interesting year that lies ahead.

GSeybold 01-20-2009 01:26 AM

Add Clinton, Lewinsky, and Blair in there and what a shin-dig that would be. ;)

Cigars anyone? :D

Sorry couldn't resist. Classy dame eh? LOL

Ah yes, lewinsky, she was a smart woman. Doesn't she believe in dry cleaning? the agenda was there from when she got down on her knees and sang for america. That's what I call screwing the american system directly and gaining for her (lets be generous) 5 minutes of fame.

hmmmm... Maybe obama can join the cigar club, of course, in the forseeable future. We now have a team, This alone is our historic moment. it could be yours.... we want your vote peeps.

GSeybold 01-20-2009 01:34 AM

Ah the visual... I just threw up in my mouth a little. LOL

Shelley_c 01-20-2009 01:35 AM

lol keep it down. Just think good thoughts.

therogueforums 01-20-2009 02:58 AM

I'll be tuning in. Like the Pirate is opposed to the Ninja, I am naturally opposed to Democrats. However, whether I like it or not, this guy IS the next President, and I intend to watch his speech.

I can only hope this guy does well, for the sake of all of us, and not bend to the party politics of Pelosi and Clinton.

I'm keeping on eye on the MSNBC home page, as they always put the live feed up at the last minute. I'll probably scrape something together at the last minute to put on my site like I did for election night.

EDIT: Looks like my old live feed from that night is going to be the same feed: http://www.cogonline.net/index.php?p...ntial_election. I'll probably rename this page though and redo it a little, depending on what widgets I can find. For the life of me, I can't figure why the banner is doing that.

dismas 01-20-2009 07:18 AM

I don't have cable or a TV antenna, so I couldn't watch it. Furthermore, I'll be asleep at the time.

I'm sure it'll be on YouTube by the time the bible he swears on goes cold...

Digital Jedi 01-20-2009 11:07 AM

Well, strangely MSNBC doesn't have a live feed up and running, but CNN has four from four different parts of DC and they have a FaceBook login option:

http://www.cnn.com/

--------------- Added [DATE]1232460635[/DATE] at [TIME]1232460635[/TIME] ---------------

And MSNBC just posted their Live Feed moments ago: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

Shaliza 01-20-2009 01:14 PM

I'm glad Bush is out of the office. What an awful 8 years. And I thought John Major & Margaret Thatcher were bad [yep, I'm British - living in the States though.]

iogames 01-20-2009 01:38 PM

Ooops!
I just armed a computer with a cable receptor and installed everything to wathc the Inaguration and they are drinking coffee

Ryan Ashbrook 01-20-2009 01:59 PM

I'll be watching on TV.

iogames 01-20-2009 03:54 PM

I love his Speech, humble and solid... see? how if we understand each other we can work together? ;)

if he offers me hard work I will be happy, if he offers me magic solutions I will think he's stupid :D

Magnumutz 01-20-2009 03:57 PM

Nice Speech he had.
Now he's gone :p
He went back home :D
