Thats impossible unless your options are somehow corrupt - they are restored to the usergroupid stored in the mod options (ixmrestoregroup).
|
I'll give it a closer look when I've had some sleep. For now I had to disable it and manually run some sql to move all users out of the Inactive users group.
As you know, I heavily mod my forum, so it could be on my end. I'll run it down and get back to you anyway. |

Thank you, Paul
I've yet to install one of your mods that doesn't do precisely what it says on the label. First class work. Well done! Biggles |
I'd really like the ability to add users from one or more usergroups who have POSTED in X days to a SECONDARY usergroup.
So, I want all super active members to be able to see a specific forum and not just the lurkers or old-time non-contributing members. Any thoughts? |
Download and installed, i'll test it as a solution for spammy registered accounts with just a signature link but no post... Thanks dude!.

Then why are you posting in it
|
this is not working for me.
3.8.1 |
Sorry, but you need to be more informative than just "not working".
|
Hi, the product sounds geat, thank you!
Few questions: 1) I installed the product but can't find a record in the for the cron in the "Scheduled Task Manager". 2) No description is provided to the XML file on how to edit the variables. Thank you |
1. This doesnt add a cron, it uses an exiting vb one
2. You dont edit anything in the XML file ..... |
Thank you, Paul!
This is a very useful mod! Installed! It works and I am using 3.8.1 |
Nice mod Paul. Like some others I would really like to move members to the inactive group if they haven't posted in f.i. 180 days, and then be automatically restored not when they enter the forum again, but when they post again. Is this possible?
|
Sorry, that isnt possible atm.
|
Great
Thanks for your effort From now on >>>>>>> no more chance for inactive moderator :D |
I'm still using the 3.7 version on a 3.8 vb and works fine.
To upgrade can I use the overwrite feature and keep mod settings or should I remove the old one first? |
Just install with overwrite.
|
One question, if auto restore is off how can those users become active again? manually?
My question is because it would be great if they would be active again only after x posts. |
Thank you!
|
Thank you
|
I have been using the 3.7 version and it appears to work OK *except* that it does not change their User Title back to 'Registered' when someone returns. It continues to say 'Inactive'.
|
I installed the program two days ago. I could not figure out how to set the right group ID in Inactive Users. Sorry, couldn't find any directions but have since figured out how to set the right usergroup ID. I created an "Inactive Group" with ID number 24. Number 9 group did not exist on our boards and still doesn't. I don't know why.
So, the system ran and moved a TON of users inot the ADMIN account! Panic! We can't remove them from the admin area unless we do it one at a time and we have about 30,000 users moved to the admin category. Bad! Apparently, there are default permissions for an administrator group that the system will not permit removing, such as viewing Admin panel. Mass prune users is not permitted for Administrator group so we cannot move them all out of default admin group. How do we get these people OUT of the default Admin group? Can't prune them. We've had a few inactive users sign back in and they are NOT moved back to the registered users category. This is a huge problem. My boards have 1.5 million posts. Am I going to have to start all over? Please help. |
It can only move users to the group you set in the options, so you must have set it to your admin group.
You can force it to move them to a different group by editing the settings, and then manually running it. Inactive members who sign back in will only get moved back if you have enabled that option, and they are currently in the group defined as the inactive group. |
We have it set to move users to #24 which is the Inactive Users group. But, it doesn't work. also, it hasn't reinstituted them to the original group once they sign in.
How do I force them to move? I mean, how do I manually run the "cron"? I'd be willing to give you admin access to our boards so you could take a look. Sorry, but I'm lost on this thing and we really need it fixed... can you help? |
Send me a PM with access details.

Some people are saying that this mod is of no use. They couldnt be more wrong. For instance, if a user registered just so he could fill out a profile with a link to his site this mod can automatically move him into a usergroup that doesnt show on the memberlist thereby not letting him use your site just to promote his. So either he will at least have to visit your site occasionally or he will lose his link.
Im sure there are many more uses but other than housekeeping, this is what I use it for. Thanks Paul. |
PM me if you can do something similar with posting in a certain time limit, and what your rates would be.
|
I was using this mod and it works very well. But I installed this mod here https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=213166 and it made all the Inactive members appear on the staff page.
|
Would it be a good idea to install this, and once 100 / 200 of your members go unactive, then e-mail or pm that entire usergroup to bring them back to the forum?
Or is that considered spam? I was wondering how I can get older unactive members back to the forum and this looks like a good idea? |
You could do that (and Im pretty sure people do).
Bear in mind you will prob get alot of bounces due to old (invalid) email addresses. |
My site has several Usergroups (120+) because the forum is used as a private support site for individual customers.
Aside from the pain of entering 100 or so numbers separated by commas, I was wondering if I'll need to update the search Usergroups every time I add a new Usergroup? Does this plugin scan "secondary" usergroups? If so, then I could create a "common" secondary user group (e.g. "customer") to scan and not have to worry about updating the search usergroup. I'm not worried about the "restore" feature. |
No, it only checks the primary usergroup.
|
OK... I've entered all the individual usergroups and specified the custom "inactive" group I want them moved to. On the first day, it appeared that the MOD added 9 users to the inactive group. However, if I manually search the groups I have another 50 users that should qualify. No additional members have moved since that first day.
Are there some other requirements that I need to make (e.g. does the server need to be restarted), or are there limitations as to how many usergroups it will scan? |

By manually running the Daily Cleanup task, I saw the number of Inactive Users change the way I would expect. However, when I looked at my Scheduled tasks I noticed that several of the "Next Times" are dates of June 1-3 (along with one "Yesterday"). Manually launching some of the other tasks (Daily Statistics Log) updated the Next Time correctly to use tomorrow's date. Others tho' (Hourly Cleanup, User Promotions and Weekly Digest) still have the older dates in "Next Time" even though the tasks completed OK. I suspect that the reason I didn't see any change is because my cron job is not getting launched "Daily" as expected. Any ideas? |
Hi.
I had problems: My Apache Server was breaking down while running the installation. After I updatet my Apache, PHP and MySQL version (I'm using Apaxx) it is running fine. btw: It would be helpful to write someware that the config is done under ACP->vB Settings -> Inactive users. Tanks a lot for your wonderful work! |
I need to delete inactive users
How can I modify to make this change? I know the Prune option, but I need to do it automatically Thanks for the help |
