If the delivery person is professional and polite, I'll tip 15% rounded to the nearest dollar. If pizza dude parks his four door rice burner on my front lawn and stinks of bud...no tip for him!;)

We usually get ours in 15 minutes. Now having worked in a Pizza Place in my teen's I know it takes 7-8 minutes for a Pizza to cook. So we quite literally get it out of the oven.

Normally we have Carlos deliver our pizza. He has delivered it every time in the 19 months we have been living here except once. One time a girl delivered the pizza. It took 20 minutes. First words out of her mouth were "I am sorry its late but Carlos is sick today." She got a good tip as well.

tipping = great service

I just love it when they know your order before you order.

I agree with others...
when tipped, they deliver faster, they "communicate" with you, and best of all - they check and recheck your order before delivery.

FYI: Tipping a delivery person is usually 5%-10% of receipt.

Depending on the order. But if it's just for me, around $2.

I am a Delivery Driver in NSW, and I am very suprised to see some people tipping 20% and $7/$8 if that's what the change is. Where I work we get $4 per delivery, and the customer is charged $8. I always justify not getting tips because they probably see the $8 extra on the bill as the payment for the driver, but we are always greatful to even get $2 from the customer, let alone $5. If we can make $15 in tips a night, we're doing really well.

I have to Disagree with this. Where I work, the manager dispatches the orders in order, so it doesn't matter whether you have a $20 tip, or no tip, your order doesn't leave the store any sooner. The only difference it's makes is where we take more than 1 order at once, and choose who we go to first. Deliveries in our area are usually 15-20 minutes regardless of previous tipping.

Currency is in AUD

It depends upon your locale, of course. In this area (NE USA, 'farm country' north of Philadephia, PA) the local places generally do not charge a fee for delivery (very rare that a place will and even then it's only a $1 or so) so there is no expectation as to what a driver will get. If I was charged an extra $8 just for delivery, then, yes, my tip would take that into account.

Again, depends upon locale and likely the type of establishment (a corporate chain or a local Mom & Pop shop). With our regular shops, the 'regulars' definitely get preferred service and it is the drivers who determine the order in which deliveries are made.

Around here, it's common to give 15% of the price as a tip. For restaurants, taxis, delivery people, anyone.

I once had a waiter running outside and screaming at me over the 5 cents I left him for his rude service.

You give me good service, I'll be generous. Lousy service you get what you deserve. Unfortunately in the US most people take tipping for granted as if it is due to them and omit the service.

I just relized that I've been a cheap SOB with my pizza delivery guy all these years. I have always been giving him 3-4 bucks. Then today I relized that why shouldn't he be getting the usually 20%, the same as our waiters? So I made a new rule as of today, 20% for my pizza delivery too. This poor guy, he was so shocked and grateful for a crappy 10 bucks. I felt so bad.

P.S. If later I complain about having a belly ache, just tell me to blow off as I just ate half of a chicken BBQ pizza and washed it down with a 1/2 liter of Dr. Pepper. :o Not like me, the pizza part and I''m feeling it. :o

So how much do you tip the pizza delivery guy or gal?

Um... I usually don't. I know.. I know.. I really should tip him something, but for some reason whenever I order pizza, I ALWAYS forget to tip the guy. Next time I'll try to remember :P

as7apcool 02-28-2009 02:03 AM

3 $ only

Winterfell 02-28-2009 04:13 AM

I generally tip the pizza delivery guys and gals a flat $5, though I bumped that up to $8 for a time when gas got really high.

Xphusion 02-28-2009 05:11 AM

i tip 5-10 bux but if its a nice hot little chickadee....well i wont get in to the rest...... gotta love being 24 and single!!!
