Just an update about this. It's easier to solve than it looks.

Just go to AdminCP < Language and Phrases < Get Uptaded Phrases

You'll see 4 phrases related to this mod on this list.

All phrases like: "dup_posts" "dup_noposts" and so on.

You don't actually need to translate everything again. Just locate on those phrases "/search.php?do=getnew" and you will see there is a argument after it like {4}, just delete it.
But it's not the only phrase in this situation the others on the list you'll have to do the same, just different arguments.

Upgraded :)

I was checking it out the XML before I uploaded it... That's a slick script!

Thanks Paul.

Hello,

I am having a problem with this product on a vB 3.8.1 forum.

The problem started after I upgraded the site from around 3.7.0 to 3.8.1.

I uninstalled the old version of this product and installed this version.

When going the control panel (usercp.php) I get this MySQL error:

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'lastrepcheck' in 'field list'

If I disable this product the error goes away.

If I disable reputation the error still appears.

If I revert the USERCP template and reinstall this product I still get the error.

Is this problem related to the XML not installing correctly?

Is there a different problem such as a bitfield file from an older version of this product sitting on the server?

Any thoughts on how to correct this and get the product working would be appreciated.

Thank you,

-Raymond

Uninstall it, then re-install it - that should recreate the missing column.

popowich 03-02-2009 06:27 PM

I thought I covered all of the easy troubleshooting. :(

That fixed the problem. Thanks!

No worries, as long as it worked :)

EagleNick 03-08-2009 03:17 PM

I have the options set to "Count All Posts Marked as Unread"
I have the issue with the link taking me to this: mysite.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew[ARG:2%20UNDEFINED].

I read about something with the dup_posts phrase, but I don't see anything wrong with it... this is what it is:
Code:

You Have <strong>{1} <a href="{3}search.php?do=getnew">Unread {2}</a></strong>
What else could be the problem?

Okay, I guess using this mod just isn't a viable option for me then.

Thanks ;)

hambil 03-09-2009 12:02 AM

The message does look similar though... the "UNDEFINED" is triggering something for me. Let me do some searching.

Ahha - I knew I'd seen it somewhere before: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....postcount=4241 - something about languages.

ARG4 undefined means : you haven't imported the last english language file !

Well what does ARG20 mean then? I can't seem to find it...

hambil 03-09-2009 09:48 AM

%20 is an html encoded space. So, ignore it. What you are seeing is [ARG:2 UNDEFINED], which means it can't find the phrase it is trying to use for argument 2. My guess is, there is a problem with your language(s).

Paul M 03-09-2009 10:17 AM

Argument 2 of that phrase is another phrase that is part of this product - the only possible way you could get it is if vbulletin didnt import the phrases properly, or you have somehow deleted the phrase - uninstalling and re-installing might fix that, otherwise, still no idea.

Dennis B 03-10-2009 12:13 AM

I'm also getting [ARG:4 UNDEFINED] here, using another language as default...

Dennis B 03-10-2009 12:17 AM

And here's why...

The "old" phrase used to be

You Have <strong>{1} <a href="{3}search.php?do=getnew{4}">Unread {2}</a></strong>

And the new phrase lacks the {4}.

Redzzand 03-10-2009 04:03 PM

does this mod conflict with any other mods? MGC chatbox stopped loading on my site as soon as i installed this mod....

disabled it, and now my board is back to normal.

any ideas?

Paul M 03-10-2009 06:16 PM

No idea, I know nothing about MGC Chatbox.

hambil 03-10-2009 06:26 PM

I run this and the chatbox (great chatbox), and have no problems.

paintballer.ie 03-10-2009 06:47 PM

I have installed this again. Would it be possible to get a solution to a previous questions.

What to I have to edit /remove or add to get the results in the navbar instead?

Thanks

Hey Paul, great mod.

Would it be possible to code a version that only displays the number on unread posts in brackets beside the 'new post' link in the nav bar.

e.g. .....Community.......Calendar...........''New Posts (10)'' ............Search

Thanks

What could be the problem with the language? What phrase is missing or corrupt?

Well I don't know what the name of the phrase that is corrupted is. I uninstalled and re-installed, but it didn't work.

What phrase should I look into?

--
Note that this issue only occurs when I use the "Count All Posts Marked as Unread" option. The others work fine.

Paul M 03-11-2009 08:08 AM

Sorry, but unless you want to give me admin access to your forum there is nothing I can really tell you.

Perfect! This one solves the problem.
The "{x}" behind the "getnew" is probably not longer needed.
I just deleted it and now it works perfekt. :D

Well, I upgraded from a previous version and it's not showing anything in the welcome box. Then I downgraded again in my old version but still nothing's showing.

Any ideas?

PrincessFiona 03-22-2009 06:13 PM

I keep getting a database error when I try and install it. It says checking for index/installing index and then it just never installs and eventually gives me a database error page.

Paul M 03-23-2009 07:37 PM

and what exactly is the database error ?

SliceofLife 03-24-2009 12:42 AM

Hi. It's not showing up any new reputation comments received even though I've followed the instructions.

suvari1794 03-25-2009 07:30 PM

New messages text's link is broken; http://www.site.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew[ARG:4%20UNDEFINED]

?

Gio Takahashi 03-25-2009 11:51 PM

Okay, now I uninstalled this and reinstalled it in order to fix this mod, and get rid of the "ARG" crap, and now it's showing a completely blank line.

You have a custom version of one (or more) of the phrases. You must delete/revert them.

suvari1794 03-26-2009 09:00 PM

Thank you. I fix it.

gigglegirl 04-04-2009 04:55 PM

Hi, I love this mod and so do the members. Unfortunately it's not working since i upgraded to 3.8.2. I suppose its because of the database thread marking system? Would you explain how i can fix that? I 'm still somewhat of a nOob and don't know where to go to fix the database thread marking system. Thanks for any help. :)

Paul M 04-04-2009 06:08 PM

Upgrading would not change the DB marking system.

mikey1991 04-18-2009 10:02 PM

great mod! As with all your mods

*installed*

I'm gonna be a perfectionise nitpicker, but you misspelt "Exclude" in the mod options, there it is spelt "Exlude" or something similar.

great mod nonetheless :)

Thanks alot

Paul M 04-18-2009 11:52 PM

Yep, you are correct. Fixed locally in my cvs, but I'm not releasing an update just for that, people can edit the phrase themselves if they notice.

Stormraven 04-28-2009 10:35 PM

I'm having a few problems with this plugin, im trying to exclude a forum from the unread posts feature, i dont want it to recognize new posts in a certain forum, but when i do i get this message when i try to click on the 'display undread posts' in certain usergroups, it doesnt seem to happen with mine, but the URL changes to:

http://www.codershangout.co.uk/searc...0UNDEFINED%5D/

and it just ends up being a blank page. nothing loads on it.

Can someone help me please? I really need to get this sorted :)

i have tryed sorting it but no such luck.

Almotmaiz.Net 04-29-2009 11:43 AM

This was a minor phrase error, I have just uploaded a fixed version.

Hey Paul,

Thanks for this mod. However I'm running into a slight issue which I just discovered today.

After I've logged into my site, I see where my site seems to think I have 1 or more unread postings, so I click on the link to show unread posts since I last longed in. When the page reloads, I get a white page and it acts as though it can't find the Cascading Style sheet settings. Under what would normally be the navbar, it says "No Users Matched Your Query".

I've already uninstalled the last few addons thinking they may be causing it but no luck.

I had your 3.7 version of this mod installed and it was doing the same thing so I just upgraded to the 3.8 version; however, still no luck.

Any thoughts?
