How do I turn off the opening a new tab / window when the PM is sent?

Otherwise, the members & I love it. Excellent mod! Thank you!

bjkinzluvr 11-13-2008 09:50 PM

I installed it and like the convenience of the pop up window, but when the message is sent, a whole new window opens up at my inbox. What is the purpose in that? Seems like the whole idea as you stated it was to be able to send Pm's without leaving the page you're on.

Plus, it interfered with some functionality of my site. For instance, when trying to select some posts to move, the check boxes clicked, but at the bottom, I could not move them because the interface did not recognize that they were checked. Any help here?

I had to uninstall it until I can get this fixed. Nice mod, though. I like the idea.

Thanks.

Since installing this mod, it appears that I cannot delete PMs using the single "Delete this Message" Option, although I can delete them using the Check/Uncheck boxes. Could this mod be the reason for this?

I'd pay for a brand-free option. Make it simple like $5?

Good idea ericgtr.

Ditto, I'm in for $5 for brand-free.

Rob,

Let me know if the you got that PM.

Same here .... Great idea and members loved it, but I had to remove it because of the above problem and the one regarding the deletion of a single PM

Yeah, good idea but I will have to uninstall because of the same two reasons. Pop-up window and can't delete a sinlge PM. Get those fixed and I'm back to installed.

robwoelich 11-14-2008 08:06 PM

I'll try to get those fixed. Thanks for the input on them. :)

briansol 11-15-2008 04:47 AM

onClick should be onclick to validate xhtml 1.0

bjkinzluvr 11-15-2008 12:37 PM

Good to know you're looking at those issues. Will be more than happy to reinstall it when those issues are fixed. Thanks.

robwoelich 11-17-2008 06:22 AM

v1.1 is done! Try it out and let me know if you have any issues with it. I know that the two previous issues with the inline moderation and the deletion of a single PM have been resolved.

I do appreciate that, thank you. :) Let me know if you have any problems with the new version or the branding removal script.

NolF 11-17-2008 07:27 AM

Script worked perfectly :D Thanks :)

There seems to be a small layout rendering problem with the X (close) in Firefox (3 & 4) and Chrome (look attachment) maybe opera as well. It shows in the right spot with Internet Explorer though :( Aside from that very very good job ^^

Found the problem... it was a small typo in the CSS file. You can resolve it by downloading the updated ZIP and uploading the new clientscript/dhtmlwindow.css file, or by opening the dhtmlwindow.css file and changing:

Code:

.drag-handle .drag-controls{
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
top: 10spx;
cursor: hand;
cursor: pointer;
}

...to:

Code:

.drag-handle .drag-controls{
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
top: 10px;
cursor: hand;
cursor: pointer;
}

Sorry about that! Like I said, it's fixed in the ZIP file that's currently on the modification page.

sensimilla 11-17-2008 08:03 AM

Could be usefull but the design side is crap. Work a bit on the look of it and I might consider.
With vbseo I get all the footer in popup with hundred of links to archive.
:) Nice job anyway.

NolF 11-17-2008 08:13 AM

No problem at all :) quick and easy fix ^^ worked perfectly. First time I see an error working correctly on IE and not on FF or chrome, funny :P

Thanks again ^^

Where is the admin cp function in the admin cp panel?

Thanks.

NAZIA 11-17-2008 12:50 PM

Nice work..
Let me test on 3.8 beta2

Harley77 11-17-2008 01:50 PM

There any way of using style hooks or putting your template edits in variables so that it doesn't auto-mangle our existing templates? It might not be so bad, except the uninstall didn't remove the template edits it put in, so I'm now having to go through and manually edit each of the effected templates (all of them). Perhaps something to even allow us to choose exactly what templates get edited.

FiMeTi 11-17-2008 02:34 PM

Great Job mate!
Installed and works just sm00th. Nominated and preparing the payment :=)

cheers

NAZIA 11-17-2008 03:49 PM

Not working on 3.8 :) Please Do it soon for 3.8 ...
Thanks in advance....

codershark 11-17-2008 04:34 PM

I noticed that the uninstall on the first version wasn't working correctly, but that was resolved with this version. I had the same problem on my test forum, which is why I made a note in the first post here to check to make sure all edits were removed. Once you get those old edits removed, this version and any future ones will work properly. :)

In vBulletin Options, below Private Messaging Options.

Yes... you could do the following:

Edit: As of v1.1, this is a feature that can be configured via the Admin CP. :)

You rock :)

ps. Branding free option available... more information below.

Where?

jambo_1969 11-18-2008 02:10 PM

Installed again :)

blue6995 11-18-2008 06:11 PM

Reinstalled latest version and it is working well. One thing I have noticed is that when viewing Who's Online, there is an awful lot of members that appear to be sending PMs to one and other - I know that isn't the case!

If you click on the name of someone from the Who's Online, which takes you to their Profile and then navigate back, it shows you as PMing that person. Nothing I can't live with but thought I would mention it.

Confirmed - and I just paid for a "branding free" license. I disabled until this bug is resolved - it's major!

So it does... and I know how to fix it, it's just going to suck. :p

I'll have it fixed shortly. :)

My installation of 3.8.0 Beta 2 took a MAJOR performance hit when I upgraded to 1.1.

I haven't tested on 3.8.0, but I don't think the version has anything to do with it. I have an idea why it would take a performance hit, though, and I'll try to find a way to fix it while I'm working on this online location issue. Give me a day or two. :)

jambo_1969 11-19-2008 04:12 AM

Uninstalled...again.

I had it running for about an hour before my apache webserver packed up and required restarting. As soon as I had it running again, I removed the product and all was happy again.

Can't explain it, but there was an increase on server load after install....

Whilst this mod has massive potential (not just for pm's) - I feel it really still should be in "beta" stage....

I've got the problem isolated and I'm working to resolve it... sorry about that! :)

I'll wait until you release the update then install and purchase the branding free licence.

Others have already mentioned the potential and I must admit the one thing that excites me is the possibility that you might be able to use this as a base to create a much needed and overdue pager system. A lot of people are still using vbpager from the 3.5 days which is no longer available due to a security risk, however still works nicely on 3.7.

A new pager system would clearly be a mod of the month contender and if a branding free option was added for $5/$10 I think there would be a lot of uptake.

robwoelich, is this something you may consider once you have ironed out the few remaining glitches?

AWJunkies 11-19-2008 08:14 AM

Thanks buddy testing now wow I got here just as you uploaded it :)

I've actually never used vB Pager, but I'll look into it and see what it would involve. First I'd like to make sure that all of the bugs are worked out of this modification. :) Let me know if there are any issues with v1.2 of this modification.

The problem with v1.1 was that the hidden divs were still loading the new PM form for every single post, or for a profile, or your members list, or show groups, and you can imagine loading between 1-20 new PM forms every page view. I don't want to imagine the queries that generated. :p The update does not load any given new PM form until a link is actually clicked to send a PM.
