hello last super man, nice hack:)

i have questions:

1) will this work with 3.7.4?
2) i do not have the yet another award from Hancho, I use the Yet Another Awards System 4.0 by Xanlamin, so would it work in combination with this hack? or would there be any problem?
3) the update you gave (rank.php), if iam installing it for the first time, then should i trash the rank.php in 0.0.2 version and use the one in the updated folder?

u see i am not a coder or something and i have to follow the instructions to make things work so can you please advice?

Nadeemjp 11-07-2008 11:32 AM

PHP Code:

WarningInvalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/admincp/rank.php on line 964

1. It has only been tested on 3.7.3, I believe it should HOWEVER with ANY hack/mod you need to backup your database before attempting ESPECIALLY if the mod says "DB Changes" even if your the most experienced coder out there due to one thing... simple human error ;)
2. It does not work in combination, it is separate! Please see the screenshot of my AdminCP as we use Hancho's Award system and wanted it to be separate, therefor it should do just fine and have a separate admin area and DB tables etc.
3. Yes, ALWAYS use the files in ANY update we post IF newer files exist!

That might be something as simple as the wrong rank.php being in there or could be something else.... try the newer files and post back ASAP :D.

Also like I said, possibly late tonight but I will be updating the install.txt so it should be even easier and less confusing for non-experienced users... heck, I was non-experience about 5 months ago but I learn fast...... I have two mods in development but not saying what they are until I release ;).

I'll have the install.txt updated tomorrow and possibly a thorough revision of the mod code itself based on feedback for all you 3.7 installers :D so thanks!

Nadeemjp 11-08-2008 05:33 AM

thanks for your detailed answer. yes i am a new comer as u were 5 months ago:d i installed it with 3.7.4 and everything seemed in order except for that error. yes i sued the new file u posted in the updated folder. but still the error is there.

look forward to ur upgraded install file. if possible please reduce the manual modifications as much as possible cause it took me 2 hours just to edit those 5 templates changes in just one style and i have like 11 styles:d

Nadeemjp 11-11-2008 03:06 AM

dear superman

i still have the following errors:

Code:

Warning: mysql_insert_id() [function.mysql-insert-id]: A link to the server could not be established in [path]/admincp/rank.php on line 579
&

Code:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in [path]/member.php(506) : eval()'d code on line 213
so when is the upgrade expected?

Trake Duke 11-12-2008 11:29 AM

Dear TheLastSuperman.

I have a question about YARS 0.2.

If i promote somebody, he becomes a message, that he was promoted. Thats fine and works good, but is there a phrases to this message? Because i want to translate the PM in german.

Sorry for my bad english, but my last schoolyear is outdated. :D

Thanks for your help and for this nice addon.

With friendly regards

First off Nadeemjp, I apologize for falling short this past weekend as my little boy was not feeling the best and the little girl had a new trampoline so I had to jump/show her how to jump and more made it a hectic weekend for me but I will have the updated files ASAP... most likely Thursday or Friday night when the wife is working....

Thank you, i find it. :-)

Have a nice day and i hope the next YARS Version is coming soon. :D

Trake Duke

Edit: Sry, that i steal your time, but i have a last problem. :D

My problem can you see here.

Now i have 2 showcases for the YAAS, the left showcase is the code from you, that i manually type in the postbit, the right Award showcase is the automaticly showcase from YAAS. If i deactivate the automaticly right showcase, then the manually left award showcase will be deactivate too.

So how can i do it, that the automaticly right showcase is on the position of the left manually showcase or that the automaticly showcase is deactivated, but the manually showcase works?

I hope, you understand me. :-)

Thanks again, Trake Duke

Wasting my time??? It says supported right :D

Now if I keep helping you know Nadeemjp is going to get one of us as that update I keep promising is getting put off eh? LOL... Nadeemjp ASAP buddy, just happened to check in while the wife ran to the store, kids are playing and I see someone needs saving so let's do this!

You want yours to look like mine --> http://www.tournamentgamingworld.com...=1273#post1273

So you see I use YAAS as well, it's on the right HOWEVER you see my Ranks Showcase? :D Not the text huh :D It's the 2142 Generals Stars on the left between my avatar and name ;)

How to do that is on the first page of this mod in post #3 or Click Here.

Basically it's where you put it in postbit (or for some postbit_legacy) that determines how it displays! So tinker w/ that postbit template to make it show your YAAS and YARS how you want it to.... remember in between one line or the next is the key! Just read the info as it should help you achieve what you want from Post #3 where it describes how to make it display w/o the text etc. Ohh and it will display vertically if no border w/ text instead of horizontal ;).

Let me know if that helps! Don't fret if I'm not on before this weekend, I just have a lot going on so bare w/ me but next is that update for Nadeemjp else I would not be treating everyone fairly eh? Also I want to do that as I think it will help someone who posted a problem in the 3.6.8 thread for this mod!

Perfect! I'm glad you have it working now :D

Up next is the update I promised Nadeemjp as I think that will also help WNxWakko who posted in my 3.6.8 thread for this mod - he also uses 3.7.3.

After I get that done... perhaps time to finish one of my other mods in production ;)

** IF that does not work, I believe a solution is in order (slight syntax correction and some other fixes) which is about to be released this weekend!

So if your one of the 80+ who have downloaded and not clicked "Installed", now might be a good time to do so as I actually use the update feature here on VB.org to send out information on updates :D.

Hopefully that will solve some of the slight problems you few have encountered!

Look for it most likely tomorrow ;)

Any progress to limit the management of adding ranks down to super moderators or defined usergroups? I have upgraded my board to 3.7.4 however have had to disable this mod until a time when you add that capability.

Aye! WNxWakko, I forgot about that! Keep the harassment up ;) (J/K but reminders help :p)

I'll see about that but it might be in the next release which is most likely 1-3 weeks away depending on RL stuff.

Nadeemjp! I hope this helps!

- Upload all the files just like you did the first time.
(See the revised Install.txt for information)
- Re-import the product .xml and your ready to go!
- You DO NOT have to redo any template edits naturally as you have already done those.

Let me know if that fixed your problem, if not I might have to see if someone will give me access to their 3.7 board as we are on 3.6.8 (to many reasons not to update yet so...) but like I said hopefully this fixes a few things!

Nadeemjp 11-16-2008 04:16 AM

hi SM

i am using 3.7.4 and while attempting to re-import product after uploading the new files, an error occurred as you can see in the attachment.

what should i do now?

TheLastSuperman 11-16-2008 04:35 AM

Update!

Sorry about this guys, one simple mistake on my part.

In line 3 of the XML product file I used & instead of AND (habit) so it was not importing!

Fixed!

- Removed the old YARS.0.0.2.1.zip and re-uploaded the correct package w/ the same name.
- Included the YARSxml.zip which is just the product itself.

S-MAN

Nadeemjp 11-16-2008 04:48 AM

ok so i should only re-import the product? and do not upload the updated files?
also, at my site the awards used to appear as is attached n this post. what i wante is that instead of stacking up under moods and other information, the awards block should go on the left side of these informations. just like in the third black image you posted in your first post.

can you please tell me where should i make what sort of changes?

thanks a bunch

Just the product via YARSxml.zip as you had already downloaded the new package before the fix!

And....

For your awards mod... Hanco's or the new 4.0 Version?

Well it should not matter just curious as that should be a simple template edit!

Try this info on for size and see if it leads you in the right direction, if not, then come back and see me!

dear SM

I am still confronting this error once i am assigning users their ranks:

HTML Code:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in [path]/member.php(506) : eval()'d code on line 213
what could be the reason?

Nadeemjp 11-16-2008 05:33 AM

and i was actually confusing your ranks and your awards showcase:D
actually i wanted the awaed and rank showcase to come on the leftside as is in your attached images. and by left i dont mean towards the avatar, i mean just immediate left of the information like place, country, sign, rep power etc, the award and rank showcase should appear on the left of these stats instead of stacking underneath since this consumes too much of horizontal space. see my image attached. in this image u can see how much horizontal space is consumed.

Nadeemjp 11-16-2008 05:36 AM

i would want the award and rank showcase to move as directed in the image with arrows:

I'm beginning to hate theses errors you guys are getting lol!

I will have to look into this... since I do not have 3.7 ( currently 3.6) then I will have to download the new Awards Mod 4.0 for 3.7 as I noticed the coder who created it said some changes had to be made for it to work properly with 3.7 and that's why he updated it (it had re-usable code as well...) so basically I have a few 3.7 users who it works fine for and other who must be above 3.7.3 RC1 which has a bug i.e. yours :(. Please bare w/ me as I try to figure out what the snag is however I will only release the new file as a test only i.e. I will need a guinea pig who knows how to backup their database to test the new beta version to confirm the error is in fact gone. I have a dummy/test forum I check most of my mods on before installing but it's turned off and only I know the IP ;) so basically it's fine for me to test w/ before I install it on the live site....I do not own a 3.7 version to test with so sorry about this and hopefully another 3.7 user can clue someone in on a solution with my help. I will most likely have this ready by next weekend due to RL commitments so please be patient.

as for the postbit, let me re-confirm. you are talking about postbit template of the style i am using right? if that is the case, i am sending it along with this message (but via pm) but bro i would like you to tell me where what kind of coding is done, so that i could leanr too:)

looking forward to the bug fixing though:)

So basically your telling me when you click their profile it errors?

If that's the case I need a copy of your MEMBERINFO template!

So let's double-check to confirm....
  • Postbit Template to help you figure out positioning.
  • MemerInfo Template to make sure the code is in the right place to finally fix the problem.

If that is in fact the case please forward a copy of your MEMBERINFO template to me via PM as well.

Also, do you mind me posting your original and modified template versions for future Installers to use as a reference? Let me know & THANKS!

well that should not be a problem Mike. Sure you can post the templates so that others can benefit:).

As for the error, yes when i click the profile button it appears on the top of the screen and does nothing else but appear. Meaning, the error itself doesnt compromise anything, it just appears which becomes annoying and fearful at times and that is it. so you need memberinfo template? Ok buddy I shall pm it to you today.

I am a family man as well, so totally understand:D. we cant ignore families:). gr8 job being a HACKER and gr8 job being a good husband and a good father:D

stickskills 11-17-2008 11:26 PM

Sorry if this is blatantly stated, but I didn't see it listed. One thing that would draw me to installing this mod, would be if it allowed users to select from multiple ranking systems from their edit options menu or something similar.

Is this possible in the mod?

I try, all you can do :D

Ok, postbit..... here ya go! Try EITHER location of the code (It's in RED), you'll see I put it in there twice so you can just copy that code and then edit your template and paste in one spot.. if that's not it then paste in the other and you should have what you want ;)

(DO NOT just copy & paste the whole thing as I did a quick edit in notepad)

Also, I believe you have toooooo much spacing in there, might not hurt too bad but can cause memory problems or the pages to load a tad bit slower if having to go through more lines.... I suspect you space it like that to easily find all the mods/hacks you have installed etc - OLD habit of mine ;)

Code:

$template_hook[postbit_start]
<table class="tborder" id="post$post[postid]" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
        <td class="thead" $post[scrolltothis]>
                <div class="normal" style="float:$stylevar[right]">
                        &nbsp;
                        <if condition="$show['postcount']">#<a href="showpost.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$post[postid]&amp;postcount=$post[postcount]" target="new" rel="nofollow" id="postcount$post[postid]" name="$post[postcount]"><strong>$post[postcount]</strong></a> &nbsp;</if>

Now that should help! Also it can give an indication to all the other users how to do the same and the similar code for the Awards Mod that so many are having problems getting to display how they want it to, just swap out the code with the award code and achieve a similar affect!

Nadeemjp, next up is your MEMBERINFO template however I'm not 100% sure that's the culprit so bare w/ me and I'll post again ASAP on the issue.

Sorry if this is blatantly stated, but I didn't see it listed. One thing that would draw me to installing this mod, would be if it allowed users to select from multiple ranking systems from their edit options menu or something similar.

Is this possible in the mod?

Multiple Ranking Systems = No, there are different categories though but that's as far as it goes! Funny you mention that though, I was thinking last week about that.... Our site has this mode to give ranks to soldiers only problem is I want it to be viewable by army officers and then they can view who is up for what rank/award etc until approved so they can agree/contest etc. but we have a COD4 & 2142 plus a soon to be COD5 Tournament and I want each to have the option of viewing but in different threads etc. and similar to what your requesting! SO w/ that said it might be in a future release as I want it myself but time does not permit me most of the time. Hopefully I get to this sooner rather than later!

Thanks for the reply! It looks like a great mod, but just not what I need at this moment in time. If you ever manage to get the time to have multiple ranks being selected, I'll be sure to install it.

Keep up the great work, and enjoy the holidays!

hey mike, any progress on the memberinfo template?

Matt P 11-26-2008 11:50 AM

Great mod however I have one problem. When I click on the link to approve a rank I get an error stating

That seems like a simple error i.e. perhaps they typed in their name wrong etc. So for eaxample on our sites we used to have ARMY members wear tags and if they received a promotion and changed their name i.e. [63X]SD|Cpt.TheLastSuperman to [63X]Gen.TheLastSuperman after the user who submits it and before you click approve it will not work.

I'll review your code when I get home and have a response ASAP on that but more than likely at the same time I resond to Nadeemjp. Sorry for the delay but w/ Thanksgiving and all I can't be on the computer much else the wife will kill me lol.

Thanks ALL for the recent installs and check back this weekend for support updates etc!

Edit: I'll also be posting up revised screenshots ;)
