thanxx 4 the product

Masiello 09-19-2008 07:24 AM

I went to make a small donation but unfortunately I did not know that the credits were finished, I am truly sorry, but without doubt I remake as soon as I can.

I know how much time and effort it takes to create an application!

Thanks for the update.

Masiello 09-22-2008 07:43 AM

Any news about update? Or just waiting donations first to release the new one?

sambalis 09-22-2008 02:53 PM

Installed and working fine to me!!!
Would be ideal to exclude admins!!!

Thanks!

eddy315west 09-23-2008 06:39 PM

thanks

Alex LD 09-25-2008 11:35 PM

Thank you this is great to prevent Leeching and copying. However i am sure this can become annoying.

It will be much better in version 2.0 granted that changes are implemented to make it so that the mod doesn't affect Admins. Overall though it works great. :)

Zachery 09-29-2008 07:57 AM

Silly modification and insanely easy to bypass.

Recommend something better huh?

Zachery 09-29-2008 10:51 AM

don't put your content of the web if you don't want people copying it.

Nope, the question isn't that because I need to show the content for who need but somebody use this content to make money when I give it for free.. for a Lottery site like mine for example, its free and some commercial site or local TV is possible to using my work to make money, but I need anyway to give this content to people who need, to who don't have money to paid commercial (and/or fraudolent in most cases) services

DungBeetle 09-29-2008 12:35 PM

Nice mod, but still waiting user group permission.

This won't derail anyone who wants your content though. Disable javascript, you've goten around it. Use lynx or wget to fetch the entire page and scrap the content. Use a web scraper. None of these things are effected in the least by javascript.

If you don't want your content to be stolen, dont put it online. All you do is annoy the crap out of your real users and chase them away.

This is a pretty DUMB STATEMENT considering that the average person who actually knows how to use the internet barely knows how to upload and post a picture on the internet much less BYPASS javascript. Thankfully not everyone is a genius like you

I have had quite a few people ask me how come they can't save pictures from my forum so the mod is obviously doing it's job. Yeah it's not gonna protect content from everyone but at least it's helps! Kinda like how your car has locks and perhaps a key coded ignition key, but that don't mean that I can't break into it and steal your car. But thankfully the average person won't know how to do that ;)

Zachery 10-03-2008 06:00 PM

Then you're detering the people who arn't actually going to do anything with your content. You're making it harder on your end user to use your site. Its your prefrence to do so. But to use this to "stop people from stealing content" is silly. Its so easy to get around, all you need is one egghead on your site to tell everyone else about how, and then you're screwed.

I know what your saying but I'm telling you, I have 1,681 members on my forum and NOT ONE member has made an issue out of the situation. Obviously if one person DID try to tell others how to bypass it then they would have to make a new thread or something which would then delete but it's not even like that. All of the people I have talked to just assume that it's something that cannot be bypassed, plain and simple. You gotta understand man not EVERYONE is as smart as the next person ;)

PhotoshopJunkie 10-08-2008 07:27 PM

But i really like the idea of admins not being affected by this mod think i'll just wait

basskiller 10-09-2008 12:52 PM

can this be used on just one section (forum) on your site?
I would like 99% of my site to remain copy as you wish.. but there is one particular forum I would like to protect from copy and paste? (atleast from most that don't know how to disable Java)

saltedm8 10-09-2008 01:05 PM

Hmm I wonder what would happen if i just switched javascript off ? - web developer toolbar for firefox add on is the easiest way I know of to switch javascript off and on again at will

not exactly hard to work out that it uses javascript - switch it off and it renders it dead lol

ForumsMods 10-11-2008 01:26 AM

New Version:
2.0 10-10-08
- Added more options in vBulletin Options as Usergroup
- Added options in Forum Manager

If you like this hack, Mark as Installed or Donate.

If a moderator can move this to vBulletin 3.7 Add-ons, I will be grateful.

Next version will include an option which oblige users to have javascript on.

eddy315west 10-11-2008 02:03 AM

Thanks For the update

eddy315west 10-11-2008 02:09 AM

ouch, not an easy job.. unless you can figure out how to do it in php or something.. Good Luck

I will say this though, I challenge you to be able to stop copying completely...

there is no website that is safe, unless its hidden or behind a password.

I would gladly test any site that believes they are safe from content theft...

it only takes a single determined person to work out what needs to be done

-- also, your stuff can be taken without disabling javascript and without any special software...

say for example IE7 options ( standard on most computers these days )
... 'page' then 'view source' ( meaning you dont right click )
... pick out the stuff you want and you have it

sorry, but it really is a pointless mod...

They could just look it up or ask someone. Hiding the unembeddable is a touch harder.

And it all depends on what you are trying to hide!

aryshi 10-14-2008 01:47 PM

thanx Gasper

great mod

what about view print thread ?
is there an option to desible same action there ..?

SnapOff Racing 10-31-2008 09:56 PM

Holy crap you gotta specify EACH FORUM NOW? WTF? What about if I want the entire forum on lockdown?

markblair 11-03-2008 12:59 AM

I installed this but even though I specifically chose the unregistered and banned usergroups to have this enabled for, nobody can right-click or highlight text. Anyone else experiencing this problem? I am using vB 3.7.3 with Firefox.

Well did you notice that there is now an option for EVERY forum that you have to enable/disable? Maybe that's where your problem is. I'm not feelin this new version at all. The first version was PERFECT with the exception that it needed the usergroup option. But this option for every forum is pretty silly.

mauro1947 11-19-2008 03:04 PM

Attached product with Right Click menu and Highlighting disabled for all forums.

Regards!
