Not even 7 days after my last post a new release.

In that release email they also mention another release the next week after, 3.6.11, and 3.7.?

I think I've proved my point, but I guess they might not be able to terminate 3.6 as soon as they would have wanted.

The first thing I thought when I received the upgrade notification [besides my regular Liver's pain  ] was 'Legion of Angels gonna be mad...'

we already are in v899 if they count correctly :D

3.6.10 ftw.

I still use 3.7.0. :) Works for me. Besides, Big-Boards is pretty much abandoned and i think TheBiggestBoards is going to outdo them soon. (At least being up to date.)

One big thing about 3.6.X that people seem to be forgetting is that as of the end of next month, it is End of Life. This means no more versions, bug fixes or security patches for it. While we will try to continue supporting it, the answer to a support question may well be, "You'll need to upgrade to 3.7.x" to fix that."

3.6.x - everything just looks better IMO. Easier to navigate...

Keep the never fully secured software, money machine rollin .

r1s1n 09-17-2008 02:38 AM

I'm gonna try 3.7.x then..

iogames 09-17-2008 03:32 AM

and why we didn't receive our weekly patch then?

KTBleeding 09-17-2008 02:32 PM

They're really killing 3.6 entirely?

Not that you haven't been making them a lot lately, Jelsoft, but bad move. Really bad move.

cheat-master30 09-17-2008 04:19 PM

I don't see why. All 3.7 specific options are completely disableable, it's likely more secure, and the newest additions better coded and it has more features and stuff for the typical buyer. Don't say that's going to annoying any big forums, because the last time I checked, early versions like version 1, version 2 and version 3-3.5 were end of life for a long time, yet it didn't stop anyone from using them...

KTBleeding 09-17-2008 06:11 PM

Because the only reason to upgrade to 3.7 is if you want to make a myspace clone.. What about those of us who don't care for myspace, or the hassle of trying to run our own? What about those of us who want just a forum. 2.x is gone, 3.6 is the next best supported thing.

3.6 isn't even two versions old. To not update security risks for it is ridiculous. I'm not going to install 3.7, ever.. I guess that's my choice.

I'm with you...

cheat-master30 09-17-2008 07:33 PM

Can't you just disable the new features? I mean, if Sitepoint has upgraded, I wouldn't see most business sites having a problem with it...

Baldilocks 09-18-2008 07:52 AM

I love the features of 3.7 over 3.6.x.
