Hi Mike,

Can you tell if any other product features loaded? Like can you see zcentral.php (there wouldn't be any blocks in it if you haven't accessed the CP) or do you get automatically directed to the Zoints Local profiles? Also, try refreshing your browser and see if it shows up.

Honestly the product is SOOO cool, but I cannot see the value in giving all of my members to zoints. :(

It's more comprehensive networking component than vB's.

schlottkej 06-27-2008 11:11 PM

I Know... I just dont like "connecting" to someone elses... its much better than the std. component.

Zoints 06-28-2008 01:11 AM

Zoints Local does not force any of your members to join the Zoints' network. We wanted to clear any confusion regarding this topic, and we've added some important information to our FAQ post:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....66&postcount=2

Zacarias 06-28-2008 05:48 AM

I'll think about installing this -- however, I do already believe that vBulletin may be "overstuffed". I had thought about registering my community with Zoints, but I'm not so sure I see any value in it.

If this mod is available freely, then the novelty of having said mod is decreased as it becomes the norm.
That, and I'm not sure my users will even use it. I'm not trying to be MySpace.

I can see my profile but I can't access it anywhere from the site except to add /z/ to the url

I can't find any zcentral.php but when I view my user profile all the blocks are there, looks great, can't wait too get it running on all my forums...

Mike.

logicuk 06-28-2008 08:43 AM

Might of been a good hack if someone other than Zoints coded this.

Give up Zoints all your hacks are buggy and you offer support for a week or two then piss off.

How about stop releasing new buggy hacks and fix/support your older hacks first

end of rant!

Lady Divus 06-28-2008 08:55 AM

I dunno, i have to say i have installed this Mod and it runs smoothly if it is installed properly. I use it, my members use it and we all love it...I havent had any problems. The only problem i have is on the dev.zoints forum. I cant login....Thank you Zoints for this Mod, job well done imho...Be well

Hi Zacarias,

Zoints isn't for everyone, no hack is. However, a good way to test it and get an idea if it would be right for you and your forum is to install Zoints Local but to NOT install the product. You obviously wouldn't be able to test out the features from the product, but you would be able to use Zoints Local and without the product, there wouldn't be a profile redirect so your members would be clueless that you have installed ZL unless for some reason they wanted to type yourforum.com/forums/z/. If you didn't like it, uninstall it and remove the files with your members being none the wiser. If it did work for you, then you would just upload the product.

Are you sure you uploaded the product Mike? It it's in the folder labeled product. If it didn't upload (but you tried to,) were there any error messages or anything of that sort? If not, please open up a ticket with us Mike.

Well, if we gave up we would just be proving your point and how fun is that? For the record, my account and the Zoints account have 498 out of 1419 total posts on the 3.6x version or 35% of the posts (roughly.) That isn't counting the support we do on our own forums or the tickets we have answered. I am up at 5:50 in the morning doing support

Bugs? Yeah, bugs exist with this version, it is a release candidate and we're hoping to correct those. We wouldn't put this out as an RC if we didn't plan to correct these bugs. You might not have the most favorable opinion about us and you are fully entitled to your opinion, but please let us help those who are interested in using the product.

Thanks. :)

I am getting some strange issues with the html markup. If I display profiles on the forum home, all I get is a white page... I also cannot view community central, as it is also a white page. There are no SQL or PHP errors, just html markup issues.

This is a fresh install of vbulletin, and a fresh install of zoints local. No template mods, no users, no posts, no nuttin.

Validation issues on forum home, with profiles on forum home enabled below:

Hi,

Just tried to install it, got to the section where i have to register for a token and clicked the link: http://zoints.com/forum.zforum.z but im getting a 404 error. So thought i would register for a profile and then click the "token" link but got "insufficient privileges" am i doing something wrong here?

Lady Divus 06-29-2008 03:13 AM

Wanted to share my profile view from my site...Thank you Zoints!

fernas 06-29-2008 06:26 AM

I have just translated all Zoints Local to Spanish and I want to share it with you. If you find any translate error, let me know.

He traducido al espa?ol el Zoints Local y quiero compartirlo con todos. Si encuentras alg?n error de traducci?n, h?zmelo saber.

Great Hack!! :D

I had the same problem. This is the correct URL http://zoints.com/forum.z

Captain Tycoon 06-29-2008 09:38 AM

I get this when trying to view my profile...

Do i need to CHMOD the /z/ directory to 777 (currently 755)? I only CHMOD the /z/includes/ folder to 777 (not the sub-files and sub-folders).

Quote:

Not Found

The requested URL /test/z/Abdul/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8b DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.6 Server at www.hidden.com Port 80
One question; Is it possible to stop it redirecting to the /z/ directory and keep all the urls in the same forum directory root?

You should be CHMODing the /z/user/ directory (and subdirectories).

You are required to leave the /z/ directory in place.

Hi Zoints,

This looks interesting. Just to clarify, is this just like a "big" database for social networking, a bit like Facebook, Bebo, ect ect ? Can we also keep the 3.7 members profiles?

It took some effort to get Zoints installed on Windows XP correctly, so I thought I share some tips for everyone.

1. The installation link to register and get a token may be broken: you can register directly at: http://zoints.com/forum.z

2. The installation asks for and suggests a path to the forum. Contrary to Windows conventions, relative & absolute paths with '\' delimiters do not work for installing Zoints in Windows. So the solution is simple: just use the suggested path (or the file system path where your forum directory is located) and change all '\' to forward slashes, '/'. Note that this path is only used to install Zoints - it is different from the site path (URL) that you'll configure in the last step. (Note to Zoints team: if using '\' delimiters on Windows when installing your mod, your install script simply strips out the '\' delimiters giving one long filename.... strange behavior.)

3. You can add links to Zoints pages in your User CP as suggested in the usercpmod.txt file in the "helpful docs" folder. However, if you use the popular "Icons for User CP Navigation" mod, then you'll need to add to the USERCP_SHELL_ICONS template the same extra html in the same suggested location as in USERCP_SHELL (read the usercpmod.txt file if you're confused). Otherwise, these extra links will not show up.

Hope these tips help. Thanks Zoints for a great mod - can't wait till the "gold" release!

As it was correctly mentioned by Captain Tycoon, that is an error on our part that should be corrected in the next update. Thanks for letting us know!

I responded to your ticket with us in regards to this but I will share this with others too. The album file is an old file that simply allows your users to enter in a URL to an album to redirect guests to. So it's not a true photo album. If however you would like to use it, please download the following file and upload it to your /z/ folder.

Hi Jase,

It's relatively big, not a Facebook sized network of course though. And yes you certainly can keep the 3.7 profiles, you can even have as one of the user pages enabled called Forum Profile which links directly to the builtin vB profile.

Thanks for sharing vbboarder! I know Windows installations have been difficult to say the least for users in the past so hopefully this can help out a lot of people who have had difficulty before. :)

Oh and for sharing the fix to add the User CP links when the icons hack is used. We were all working on a blank vB install so you kind of forget about those hacks when faced with the default templates (I actually use that particular hack on my forum and quite enjoy it.)

I'm new to your Mod, but my beta tester seems to really like it. She is having some issues with her browser locking at times, I'm sure it's locally inspired, as I get none of that when I replicate the steps.

I was looking a blog function, and found more. More later after we learn our way around with it.

I can say... You might offer a drop down in the styles to allow one of the existing ones to be used. Some of my members are rather set with their choosen skins, and want that as a starting point for future edits.

Otherwise, a really nice piece of work. Yes, I did register at your Zoints as well for support.

Cheers - Programmers should feel good when they write something useful and intutive.

bitbender 07-01-2008 01:54 AM

Update: I have to take back what I said above about being able to clone from existing skins - Using the editor, It was very easy to duplicate the effects of the default skins my membership likes and then save them as commiunity shares.

Nice. Very Nice.

A style importer would be a lot harder to make function properly than a person doing it manually, because there's a lot of variance in the styles people create. It's great to hear that you found the style creation system easy to work with :)

bitbender 07-01-2008 11:07 AM

Yes, I can certainly relate to that.

These two styles we use have been in force scince VB 2.2, and I have to re do them from scratch almost every upgrade - I have always added hacks and our own touches, not to mention some work in joining phpportals/vbull/photopost/IRC together on our board. That means refitting it all every time, and some fall out as they obsolesce.

I am planning to deploy this fairly soon at our live board, and you will start to see some links from our members via Zoints.

Cheers - I am off to repair a pesky farm tractor - Geeks don't just work on computers, you know :D

vbboarder 07-01-2008 05:48 PM

The navbar & menus do not display correctly when CSS stylesheets are stored as files. A CSS stylesheet is probably not created as a file for Zoints pages since the navbar appears to inherit the vBulletin background and no background & table is created for the navbar, but the links still appear and work.
Solution: until Zoints fix this bug, disable "store CSS stylesheets as files" in vBulletin Options > Style & Language Settings.;)

How do you post a image in a custom block since the gallery doesn't load for me at all?

intricatic 07-02-2008 01:50 AM

Once this hits release, and not just release candidate, I'll probably install it because the profile mod looks wicked cool. I just want to play it safe and wait for the bugs to be ironed out before putting it on a live board.

Plus, Zoints has done a lot to help establish the community I help to run, and I guess that makes me a loyal Zointer or something. Does the future of Zoints look good? I certainly hope so, because Zoints rocks.

(Don't worry Zoints, I haven't abandoned you. Hehe)

I have one question, though, and not sure if it's been asked or not (I'm in a huge rush to do like 20,000 things at the same time) - does this create any issues with vBSEO/vBBlog?
