Not working for me on 3.7.1 followed instructions doesnt do anything to my forum

Ricky Leone 06-03-2008 09:36 AM

Unfortunately, all of my sub-forums are being scrunched over to the left only on forumdisplay.php pages.

- Happens on Firefox
- I've tried uninstall/reinstall

Any solutions?

visidigi 06-05-2008 08:16 AM

Great mod, works perfectly on my 3.7.1 install.

One thing you might want to add, if you have lots of sub forums it moves the status icon to the middle of cell so its hard to see how it ties up. Its a really easy fix though...

In forumhome_forumbit_level1_post

Find
Code:

<td><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/$forum[imageprefix]forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" id="forum_statusicon_$forum[forumid]" /></td>
Replace with
Code:

<td valign="top"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/$forum[imageprefix]forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" id="forum_statusicon_$forum[forumid]" /></td>
In forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

Find
Code:

<td class="alt2"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/$forum[imageprefix]forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" id="forum_statusicon_$forum[forumid]" /></td>
Replace with
Code:

<td class="alt2" valign="top"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/$forum[imageprefix]forum_$forum[statusicon].gif" alt="" border="0" id="forum_statusicon_$forum[forumid]" /></td>
You may need to adjust your statusicons to have a bigger transparent border to line up with your forum name correctly...

Installed the mod on both my 3.6.8 and 3.7 forums. This is a great method of showing a large number of items within a smaller area, for easier visual distinction.

Other than adjusting the forum order in the Forum Manager, is there a simple method or intended upgrade to this hack which will allow the admin to change the order display ...

from
1 | 2
3 | 4
5 | 6

To

1 | 4
2 | 5
3 | 6

The latter order follows typical user alpha order expectations better.

Thanks.

Nice hack but my Last Post, Threads, and Posts columns do not show up. Any idea why this might be?

I had exactly the same when I tried to use this mod with this one https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=166248 , not on Forumhome but on every sub forums pages.
I'm still trying to figure out why.

How do you get the spacing set as on this user's board? My second one picks up right at the end of the first one in the top row and so on from there.

RedTrinity 06-09-2008 04:03 AM

Just installed on 3.7.1 and its working wonderfully!!! Thanks Cyb :)

I third this suggestion!
This really needs to be added to the next version.

EagleNick 06-29-2008 12:35 AM

What is the upgrade procedure?

Will it cause me to lose all settings when I upgrade?

Valter 06-29-2008 12:58 PM

No, just import XML, allowing overwrite.

I am having this same problem with 3.7.1 PL2. This is a CLEAN install of vBulletin with no other hacks installed. Any solution to this problem?

Dugchugger 07-01-2008 04:30 AM

I installed it... loved it (with a minor exception... outlined below). Now I'm off to uninstall it and install the RIGHT one (for 3.7). ><

I have subforums within subforums and I don't care that they don't show on the first page, but when I click on the subforum, it would be nice to see their subforums shown the same way the subforums are on the first page. Hope that made sense. :D

Either way... THANKS for this! I hope you continue to develop this... it seems very popular and many members have downloaded it.

swiper the fox 07-11-2008 04:00 PM

This is a great mod

TWO QUESTIONS:

#1. Instead of showing total posts/thread counts, can this instead show new posts/threads for each subforum ?
Quote:

example: FORUM --- SubForum (3/7) <=== number of new posts / new threads
#2. Info for this mod shows that sub forum title font size can be changed, but I am not seeing this option ? Where is it done at ?

Thanks alot, and again............outstanding mod

TFEX 07-13-2008 08:12 PM

wasn't what I was after just yet, but I have it bookmarked for the future... thanks for the mod :)

glenvw 07-16-2008 02:03 PM

Installed here: http://www.warmislands.com/tropical_...rums/index.php

Questions:

In your DEMO can you be specific as to how your set up is figured? Your titles / subjects do not link to anything. I would like to do that.

The reason is if you go to my forum home page and click on "Caribbean Islands" -you note to get to those posts the user has to scroll past umpteen sub-categories to get to the posts. The only work around I see is if there was a way

a) to not have the sub-forums show in the top-level category
b) move the posts that are in "Caribbean Islands" top category to a sub category named "General Talk"

Hope you see my problem - am I missing an obvious fix?

Raffaele 07-23-2008 08:13 PM

It works great in VB 3.7.2 and love it and now the big.... But!!! hehehehe how can i make the font in the sub-forum bold... well because some people like me are can see very well...

Thank you for the help,
Raffaele

Valter 07-23-2008 08:59 PM

Go to hack settings and add this to the and of last setting field:
font-weight:bold

Raffaele 07-23-2008 09:04 PM

Thank you very much Cybernetec that made my day :D

Raffaele

TWO QUESTIONS for Cybernetec:

#1. Instead of showing total posts/thread counts, can this instead show new posts/threads for each subforum ?
example: FORUM --- SubForum (3/7) <=== number of new posts / new threads

#2. Info for this mod shows that sub forum title font size can be changed, but I am not seeing this option ? Where is it done at ?

Valter 07-24-2008 02:38 PM

1. Such feature will add 1 db query per subforum which of course is not recommended at all.

2. Change CSS in hack settings. In last setting field change '13' to different value to increase/decrease font size.

swiper the fox 07-24-2008 02:46 PM

#1: ok, cool

#2: Thanks....... never realized how easy that was

Thanks for the help and even more thanks for this marvelous mod

JTS2005 07-27-2008 05:03 AM

how can you add icons to these subforums? i have searched but no luck with anything working

dadoc 07-27-2008 09:49 AM

This is just what I was looking for but after I installed it
it pushed my side column on the right side out of the screen making me have to use the slide bar to view the whole page.

I really want to have this mod but I can't have it like this

Is there a solution

I did have a look on Firefox and IE and I had the same problem

I have disabled at the moment so you wont be able to see it

but I hope you know what I mean, I was reading some similar posts here and They did say they had the same problem. but I could not see and answer.

I would love some help thanks.

lumby 07-29-2008 03:38 AM

This doesn't work at all for me. I am running Vbulletin 3.2.7 and I changed the sub-forum depth to 1, but it still doesn't show anything. I've tried reinstalling the package with no luck, any ideas?

I think I have tried everything to fix this but still no luck
I am thinking it must be the custom skin thats the problem?

hope this helps

lamboforums 08-10-2008 03:03 PM

I installed this plug-in for vb 3.72 patch level 1.

I followed the instructions included in the .zip

1. changed sub-forums depth to 1
2. included intended forums under the "parent forum"
3. changed columns desired to 4

I still can't get sub forums to appear the way they should.

Anything else i should check?

Check that you have installed the XML file properly
this might help
