Destroyed my introductions forum, :-l

karlm 07-16-2008 11:51 PM

Sadly, no joy on 3.7.2 PL1 :(

Uninstalled.

TrevsRevenge 07-23-2008 02:15 PM

cybernetec I found a small problem with this hack it works perfect with 3.7.2 PL1 but when it posts in the forum it uses the first posters IP as mine so far no issue with multiple login detector but it could be a future problem do you have any ideas how we can fix this.

Notorious Jay 08-07-2008 06:07 AM

Great Hack, I would also love to see a variation so you can generate different replies for different sections of a board. Also I noticed that when the auto reply replies to a thread the user id you set to post a reply inherits the origional thread posters I.P. address, I think it would be helpful to mask the i.p. for the autoreply or maybe have a specific I.P. address field you can set. For a while I thought people were hacking into my Admin account due to the various I.P.'s that were added upon every autoreply. Other than that this has worked great for welcoming new members to our site.

The_White_Eagle 11-17-2008 06:25 PM

I used this on 3.7.3 until I upgrade to 3.7.4 and it works just fine on both.

What version of boards are you using I seriously doubt it's the hack as I haven't had any problems with that at all and I use it as an auto welcome. So every time someone replies to the auto reply as if I were talking to them I step in and reply again. Plus when my mods move topics from other sections to that section I reply in there as well.

tafreeh 12-12-2008 05:28 AM

Use forum tags.

zero5854 01-03-2009 09:10 PM

is there a way to make this simply auto reply at random to the specified forums? Instead of only when a member posts? Also I have a problem that it wont work when I move unapproved posts to approved posts. Is there a way to get it to work even after a post has been approved?

tafreeh 01-04-2009 04:47 AM

this is a great mod... but i have a question...
Seconds to wait (after thread creation) before posting reply i put 30 in this field but still it create the post after 2 hour or so... how do i make it a minute....?

Thats what i was hoping this mod would do. Any ideas if this is possible with this mod?

Thanks in advance :)

The Realist 01-04-2009 11:27 AM

Installed then deinstalled because Vbseo didnt like it.

I have 7 user ids set up to reply to new introduction threads, but only one id replies per thread, is it possible for all 7 to reply in the same thread?

King Fly 01-07-2009 07:17 PM

thats what i was asking....i was using the 3.6 hack on 3.7.0 and up and it worked fine...even on 3.8 im running now it worked fine except as the same thing the person above me said....i want both user id 1 and 2 to reply in the same thread....we are tired of welcoming new people and we both own it so we kinda have too lol

So you are using this as a way to welcome new users to your forums? Would you mind telling me how you have this setup please? I thought this would just reply to new unanswered threads, rather than create new welcome ones?

buurman 01-20-2009 07:19 PM

Im using this plugin on 3.7.3 and its working great, for a while now, but not when im posting with this easy forms plugin:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201097

This is probibly because posting is done on an other way than normal, any idea what I need to edit to get it to work with easy forms?

Yes, just enter forum id to Introductions and add custom message, and it will post once after every New Intro

DivineMessenger 01-21-2009 02:38 AM

Yes - at least it works for me.

I had it installed on version 7 but upgraded. Try uninstalling the product through admincp and upload it again. After uploading you will need to edit your options but your post should still remain. :)

Notorious Jay 02-21-2009 09:01 AM

also works fine on 3.8 for me.

messi93 03-05-2009 11:27 PM

jdougher 03-28-2009 02:45 PM

Mod doesn't work. After it kicks in, if the original poster tries to access the thread, an error message appears.

UNinstalled.

This is not to welcome new users but to reply to new threads in some forums...

ShackMaster 04-24-2009 01:25 PM

Thanks for the updates.

I have a couple of requests that would be great if you could implement.

1. Where you have -{1} will be replaced with thread starter username, {2} with forum name... it would be great to have {3} will insert original thread title

2. Allow someway to insert "User Profile Fields". For example, we use a custom user profile field that is required and titled "Alias". It is field7. It would be nice to use that custom field as an replacment/insert instead of the {1} for username.

Thanks!

why does it says in read me file

I'm using this to automatically welcome users in my "Introductions" sub-forum

koby411 07-09-2011 02:44 PM

I tried using this. After posting the user gets the error:

Quote:

Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator
Also on the forum home it doesn't list in the last post info that the auto-reply user was the last poster.
