Also, to the other Coders (Phalynx, PaulSonny, Jase2, Atakan KOC, Kerry-Anne) ... congrats as well. Keep up the great work :)

Social Forums - it makes the Social Groups really do what they are meant to do.

Lindsey 05-09-2008 12:58 AM

Rickeo 05-09-2008 02:58 AM

Yeah - I'm wondering what the deal is... I certainly hope HelpCenter sees the out-of-beta stage soon.

Jacquii.

EDIT - on the PaulSonny.com website:

Hello all,

As you may be aware, we've had to have a complete new site. This is because of server problems with our last host - and Paul quickly got us set-up with a new host.

Also, you may be aware that HelpCenter recently got put into the "Modification Graveyard" over at vbulletin.org. This is because of a vulnerability found. Rest assured, this is nothing major and we will have it fixed shortly.

Thanks for your patience.

That was posted on 5 May, 2008 - It's now the 9th of May, 2008 - I sure hope things are well with PAUL and JASE and the site and the HelpCenter project!

Marco van Herwaarden 05-09-2008 11:59 AM

We are still working with the authors of the Helpdesk to produce a version that will be more secure then ever. It does take some time to get everything checked and sorted though, but it seems almost all issues are resolved or almost resolved now.

PaulSonny 05-09-2008 03:06 PM

I appreciate everyones patience. Rest assured, myself, the PaulSonny website and the HelpCenter project is going knowhere, development has slowed down a little due to the issues mentioned above but will be back to normal once everything has been verified.

Thanks, Paul.

Jase2 05-09-2008 04:32 PM

Please all don't see this as a bad thing. Really, it is good for you, since we have fixed all problems, or nearly most. I would like to thank all the vb.org team who have helped myself and Paul through this. :)

I'd never seen Tabbed Forum Home until now, and after installing it, I'm impressed; it gets my vote.

I do like HelpCenter, but I tend to be more impressed bobster65 by not reserving features for those that pay for them.

Good point... But then again - we're not really talking about phpBB right... LOL

Perhaps you could appreciate the time and effort that goes into coding this modifications, not to mention the support as well?

Thanks, Paul.

Jase2 05-10-2008 12:56 PM

youradhere4222, HelpCenter is in 'beta' stage and it is only a lite version. We've always said there will be a paid version. What do you want us to do, add every single feature and do all this for free? Maybe if I had more time, yes - but unfortunately this takes a lot of both mine and Pauls time - so we certainly cannot work for free.

I think our support has been fantastic, and is only going to continue with the 'paid version. I think we've done great so far, especially how complex we've made the lite version.

youradhere4222 05-10-2008 07:26 PM

Appreciating someone's work more than someone else's isn't at all devaluing the effort of them; please know that.

There are plenty of paid modifications that require payment to use, and I have no problem with that. I was simply posting in this thread to tell who I had voted for, and why, just like everyone else had done.

I don't think a paid version is required to develop a modification, since #1, there's an option to not support your modification, and #2, people do donate to good causes, but I'd rather not get into this argument.

Jase2 05-10-2008 07:32 PM

So, you want us to spend countless hours working for nothing? Do you see vbulletin doing that? No!

mikkitine 05-10-2008 08:07 PM

bobster's tab ability.

Paul M 05-10-2008 09:30 PM

This thread is not for discussion of the merits of paid modifications, thanks.

Big Boss 05-12-2008 09:59 PM

My vote goes to Tabbed Forum Home, no doubt about it! ;)

Tabbed Forum Home
Awesome hack.

Baldilocks 05-23-2008 10:01 PM

I chose Social Forums. Truely something that should have been standard with vBulletin.

Side Colums are easy to make in a HEADER or FOOTER template anyway.

King Justice 05-24-2008 12:42 AM

Can someone PM me the answer: How can I go about submitting my forum to be nominated for MOTM?

Baldilocks 05-24-2008 01:18 AM

How can a forum be mod of the month???
Ask that in the Forum of the Month area. :)

Well, then, we need to talk in PM. ;)

Baldilocks 05-24-2008 03:54 AM

I've looked at the template (because I added the tag cloud, some phrases, the style chooser and the donate link), although it's not a skin I personally designed.

But the guys at vBskinworks seem to like coding side colums in either the HEADER or FOOTER templates.

Here is an example from my forum home page.

(Part of the FOOTER template).

Marco van Herwaarden 05-24-2008 08:30 AM

Please stick to the topic of this thread.
