The English phrase is already there for this. When you mouse over it now it says:

Quote:

Report this Private Message
Just look for the text in the phrase search and change it to what you want.

Yes I did, Bob. But my German fellow was some ticks faster than me. No problem at all LOL. Thank you, Sir ;)

Awesome Mod. Is there a way to exclude certain member groups from being reported?

I didn't add that as I wanted it to be able to report anyone in case there was a rogue Mod or staff member on a site. Although rare, those things do happen. And I would want to know if someone was harassing or causing problems in PMs no matter who they were.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I agree on that point and that is rare but a real possibility. We run one of the largest American football message boards in the world and we have a lot of rabid fans. My concern is the tit-for-tat reporting of Mods by members who are pissed off because they were given warnings or infractions.

Boofo 02-13-2008 12:15 AM

Well the best thing would be to make a rule for the site regarding reporting PMs. No matter how tit-for-tat it may be, if a user has a genuine concern, it should be addressed. And if you DO ever have a rogue mod and they know they are exempt from being reported, think of the havoc they can cause before you find out about it. This is a very seriouis hack that should not be allowed to be abused.

youradhere4222 02-13-2008 08:06 PM

Once again, thanks, Boofo!

It's working fine on my forum at the moment, is there any real need to update?

Boofo 02-13-2008 08:28 PM

Yes, as this will work in either postbit now in case you want to change it later and the PM message has been totally designed for easier viewing. Also, it defaults to being ON on install and User ID 1 to receive the the PMs. I would recommend upgrading. I would welcome your opinion on the new changes.

Jase2 02-13-2008 10:30 PM

Thanks for this Boofo - it will be nice to keep this hack going. :)

Regards Jason :)

NeuroLancer 02-13-2008 10:36 PM

This mod has come up really nice with just the one xml now.

Thanks alot for your efforts

Boofo 02-13-2008 10:49 PM

Thanks for the kinds words. ;)

You can thank Dismounted for the code to insert the button in both postbits. Check out the PMs and let me know what you think of the way they look now compared to the way they were before. I think you'll be happier with the new version. ;)

Ramsesx 02-13-2008 11:54 PM

Thanks for this Boofo, just for your information after upgrade from 1.0.2 there weren't the default options set (no user ID and disabled).
How can I make it only sends the report to user ID 1 and to no moderator?

youradhere4222 02-14-2008 12:51 AM

Love the update, Boofo!

I managed to change the warning message under the report box effortlessly, and I love the new format of the message that gets sent! Great job, once again!

If you just copied over it, the settings will stay what you had set before. I would do an uninstall and re-install it and it will be set how you want it. then go into the settings and see how I have it set to do it that way so next time you will know how to do it. Just enter the User ID or IDs of who you want to get the PMs in the bottom setting and make sure the Usergroups setting above it is cleared. It can either be set to Usergroups or User IDs.

What warning message did you change and what did you change it to? I am always looking to better a hack if a good suggestion comes up. ;)

youradhere4222 02-14-2008 01:25 AM

When reporting a PM, I changed the default red text to this:

Quote:

This is only to be used to report spam, problematic (harassing or rude) private messages, or any other content that violates our rules.
I removed the bold and red font (to make it a bit more professional and flow across the board), and I also made the word "rules" link to my rules page.

That's very easily accomplished. :)

Ok, sounds great! The reason I made it red and bold is so it would stand out from the report post since they both use the same type setup. ;)

Jase2 02-14-2008 12:41 PM

Yes, I think the bold red is very good Boofo. Makes it clear what is expected when reporting a PM.

What a lovely hack. :P

Regards Jason :)

Boofo 02-14-2008 01:16 PM

Let me know what you think of this Important Information message (in the pic). I changed the red color to the board highlight color and added some info to it. ;)

Jase2 02-14-2008 01:38 PM

That's good -- but as I say, it's good as it is, nice and short.

We just edit the .xml if we wanted to change it ourselves.

Regards Jason :)

Boofo 02-14-2008 02:52 PM

Good point. ;)

dilbert 02-14-2008 04:00 PM

Thanks, this is terrific.
When it sent the email, it also sends the BB code. Can this be removed prior to emailing?

Yogesh Sarkar 02-14-2008 04:05 PM

Thanks for the hack, works perfectly in 3.6.8 :)

No, as that is how vb's email works. It let's you know what was quoted. Just like in email notifications.

Don't forget the install button. ;)

Thanks for the explanation.
As for the install, does it count if it's on a test board? :) Once I update to 3.7, I'll likely include this modification.

Boofo 02-14-2008 07:09 PM

If it's installed, it's installed, right? ;)

If you don't use the install button then you won't be notified of any updates, if there are any. That's what it is used for.

Jase2 02-17-2008 02:56 AM

I have to say, this is a very neat mod Boofo. I just hope you can keep this hack going.

If needed, I'd be willing to make a donation :)

Regards Jason :)

Boofo 02-17-2008 03:12 AM

Donations are always accepted just never required. ;)

Bob,
did you get the German translation from that member 'skrazydogz'? See Page 3, starting from Post #40 :)

Boofo 02-17-2008 04:21 PM

Michael,

Nope never got it. You might want to upgrade to version 1.0.3 first and then if you want to translate that, it will be appreciated, sir. ;)

On the upgrade, make sure to uninstall the old version first as the settings in the new version are defaultly set differently.

GafferSports 02-18-2008 06:39 PM

so what is the code for the postbit as I do not see the button either.

Cheers in advance :)

The fort has crumbled! I just try to look busy now! Just installed this on my live board as well, thank you!

Jase2 03-14-2008 06:59 PM

Thanks for the update on this.

Regards Jason :)

ArnyVee 03-23-2008 12:55 AM

Sure seems that I can't get this working. Not sure why as I followed the directions. :(

Code for postbit? Did I miss something?

Boofo 03-23-2008 01:07 AM

Are you using the postbit or postbit_legacy?
