I now have a working version that uses Administrator Permissions, but there will need to be six edits of one of the files before it is uploaded (it can not be helped as adding permissions generated another issue with the rendering of the menu that I could not overcome).

I will be releasing the new version at the end of the week, as I have an assignment for University that needs to be handed in tomorrow, so am kind of busy atm.

FreeLunchRoom 05-20-2008 07:22 AM

I'm getting this error message: vBulletin 3.7 : Integration Error 03 : No permissions set for usergroup 33.

Any ideas?

Absolutely no idea, as this is the first time I have ever heard of this error message.

At the moment, this hack does not have admin permissions, so do not have a clue.

BTW, what Usergroup is usergroup id 33 assigned to? Admins, Super Mods, Mods, Members?

Update: v3.7.005
  • Product name changed
  • Version numbering changed
  • Added Administrator Permissions

Did you follow Step 3, and change all 6 instances before uploading the files via your FTP client?

Change every instance of <chat-folder-name-here> (there are 6 instances) to the name of the directory under the forum root directory that you installed Flashchat into.

So, if you installed Flashchat into <forum-root>/chat, then change <chat-folder-name-here> to chat, if you installed into <forum-root>/fc then it would change to fc.

Save the file.

It works on my testbed fine, so am not sure what is up.

To help you further I will need to take a look at your installation.

[s]So, if want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an temp admin user (with the appropriate permissions) and an ftp account, without these I cannot help you. I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English), so it is up to you what you want to do. You can always remove the temp admin and ftp accounts after I have helped you out.[/s]

I received your PM with you details.

You had not done step 3 correctly.

It is all fixed up, sent you an PM.

Enjoy :)

Hey, I'm having a bit of a problem.

I have FlashChat 4.8.3 installed and I tried to install this. I got a slight error. There's no "FlashChat Admin" link in the AdminCP. Is this because of the FlashChat version?

Edit:

I also have vBulletin Blog installed. Might that AdminCP navbit be getting in the way?

Having vBulletin Blog installed will not interfere with the Flashchat AdminCP links appearing.

Have you given yourself Administrator Permissions to view the Flashchat AdminCP links?

Of course. However, I'm still not able to see anything. The plugins are all active as well.

Edit:

Also, uninstalling and reinstalling did not change anything.

Got your PM, all sorted.

You had not uploaded cpnav_flashchat.xml.

Once you are happy it is working, you can remove the temp account you PM'ed me.

Enjoy :)

I am pretty sure you have not done step 3 properly, but if you have, then I do not have a clue as it is 100% functional, the only way to help now is to look at your installation.

I had the same issue and thought I'd completed step 3 correctly until I had another look.

I'd misunderstood the instructions (my fault) and edited each of the <link> sections in cpnav_flashchat.xml incorrectly.

My chat directory is called chat and I'd changed all my (6) links to:

<link>../<chat>/rest_of_URL</link>

Once I got a little smarter and removed the left and right brackets from each link:

<link>../chat/rest_of_URL</link>

all was well and my admin menu appeared. :o

Hello!

Having a bit of a problem here and hoping I can get some help please.

I has this installed and working perfectly. But we then went ahead and upgraded our hosting.

This plus Paul M's Flashchat: Integration for vB 3.7 v3.7.005 was installed, but disabled during the move.

I have just gone back in and enabled Paul M's Flashchat: Integration - all is well.

The I went to enable this mod and get this message:

Quote:

The following products are required by FlashChat: Admin Panel Integration and must also be enabled:

1. Flashchat Integration
So I uninstalled both of them and re-installed them, but still get the same message.

If if I install anyhow I can access the flashchat admin panel, but get this error on any pages in there.
Quote:

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/home/XXXX/public_html/chat/templates/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/XXXX/public_html/chat/inc/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088

Any ideas on whats going on and how I can fix it???

Delete the contents of the /chat/templates/templates_c directory, as it is Flashchat's cache directory. That should fix the following error:

Code:

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/home/XXXX/public_html/chat/templates/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/XXXX/public_html/chat/inc/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088
Also check the permissions on the Flashchat directories are correct, easiest way to do that is to run the first part of the flashchat installation again, and Step 1: Your Server Environment will let you know if the correct prerequisites have been met (including directory permissions). You do not need to go past step one, it will just quickly tell you if you need to change permissions, if everything on the page says Yes, then everything is setup correctly.

Meje 07-09-2008 03:58 AM

Thanks!!!

All I had to do was make that folder (templates_c) writable again :)

Working perfectly again!

Just finished using this with vBulletin 3.7.2 with Flashchat 5.03 (using the fix from Veronica). Everything seems to work perfectly, so I think it's safe to say it works!

EXACT same issue - I followed everything to a T ...

EDIT ....

Ok - I see what I had done .... you want to make sure you change "<chat-folder-name-here>" to chat .. GET RID IF < >

so all administration is done in one place (you can even optionally remove FlashChat's own nav links - see the screenshots for comparison).
Not "ALL" administration is done via this mod .... at least not with the latest flashchat 5.x. It would be nice if you could do ALL settings etc from within the admincp, this mod doesnt seem to do that. It seems flashchat 5 is a lot different than 4.

I will look at v 5.x, once Paul M has updated his Flashchat Integration have to work with v5.x., but not until then, as my hacks tend to work in harmony with his.

rodneytamblyn 08-30-2008 02:35 AM

Hi,

After updating to FlashChat Panel Integration (was running an older version) the panel has disappeared from the Admin screen and been replaced with a panel whose name appears as "[*]", when expanded, it has one item also named "[*]"

Flashchat integration 3.7.005, board is 3.7.3

Tried deleting the hack, above does not disappear... ditto reinstalling it.

Anyone else seen this or able to offer any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks

~ Rodney

Did you do step 3? As it seems you have not. If you follow the instructions to the letter, then it will work.

If you are using Flashchat v 5.x, then this hack may not work, as it has not been tested with that flashchat version.

If you are actually trying to un-install, then delete cpnav_flashchat.xml and bitfield_fc_admincp.xml from your includes/xml/ directory, as well as un-installing the product.

mlthmp 08-31-2008 11:46 PM

Installed on a 3.7.2 using FC 5.0.6 just fine.

Good mod, thanks!

Mosh 09-01-2008 10:29 AM

Update: v3.7.006
-- FlashChat v5.x.x version (will not work with FlashChat v4.7.x)
-- Changed: cpnav_flashchat.xml
-- Changed: Instructions
-- Changed: top.tpl
-- Added: New phrase

Download either of the below files, depending on your installed FlashChat version:
  • ms_fc_admincp_fc5_v3.7.006.zip for Flashchat v5.x.x only
  • ms_fc_admincp_fc4_v3.7.005.zip for Flashchat v4.7.x only

Please elaborate... where are you seeing this?

Did you download the correct file and follow the instructions to the letter? Because the FlashChat v4.7.x version has not changed since the 22nd May 2008, and this is the first mention of this problem.

Well you can now with the new version :) It has the new configuration section available in FlashChat v5 (NOT available in v4.7.x) integrated into the new version.
