Cool friend, as much as you bring it here i dont mind.

My personal preference was to have an option to limit it within a single thread, but since that seems not possible at the moment, then i guess forumids will work.

Also do you know in which vB hooks connected to this Chatbox product i can insert your plugins so the you hack works here

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=131002

Does the chatbox use an external file or vbulletin stock files?

hilfe-forum 02-03-2008 11:50 AM

My Users (and i) love your Hack and hate me :D

Yes it uses some files of its own files: chatbox.php goes to root forum folder and chatbox_admin.php to admin folder

I hope you can make it through. Thanks for your dedication friend.

Jimandbob 02-03-2008 11:54 AM

Causing absolute mayhem :D Thanks for this

asj 02-03-2008 11:55 PM

Thanks for this

Boofo 02-04-2008 12:39 AM

LOL You forgot the install button in here, too. ;)

Ryan Ashbrook 02-04-2008 04:00 AM

Thanks for this Boofo, a lot.

You see, I'm too lazy to do it myself, so I'll just use this. :D

Boofo 02-04-2008 04:33 AM

I know how you feel. I'd rather use someone elses' code than my own. I've seen how I code and it scares me.

Caddyman 02-05-2008 05:39 PM

you all should try and sign up a fake username [you]

you can make some funny replies like "sure at the next meeting im buying the beers" and anyone who views it will show thier name as the poster......funny stuff

i am having slight issue. some people who use it, it just shows their name, to everyone....

Boofo 02-05-2008 05:48 PM

That is because they have edited their post and not replaced their name with [you].

Dually noted

and very cool it works with the username....lmao

Boofo 02-05-2008 06:00 PM

I have been working on this and have added the ability to change the word to use from the Admin CP, in case this hack gets overused. I am still in search of the e-mail notification fix and will post the update when I have that figured out. ;)

I might do a setting for that, now that you mention it, so you can chose which word you want it to be. That would make this a lot more configurable. Watch for an update soon. ;)

The usergroup setting would be a great addition please.

Once our members work out how to use it there will be even more mayhem on our forums than there already is :p

Thanks again Boofo:up:

Boofo 02-05-2008 08:17 PM

The usergroup or forum ID settings wouldn't really work on this, I have come to see. As anyone can use this, those settings would only make for a lot of empty replacement variables throughout the site. You can't stop anyone from actually typing the code in a post. All you can do is stop certain forums or usergroups from seeing the parsed variable, hence the code will show. What I do is use it only for staff and use a word that only I and the staff know. It saves for a lot of headaches and empty code tags throughout the site. I have added the option to change the word form the Admin CP settings in case someone decides to get annoying with this. Although I haven't found the way to stop the code from showing in the notification e-mails yet. I am working on that in between my site crashes. ;)

You will find that this is a lot of fun to play with in the beginning but can get overused and really annoying if you let the wrong people use it.

Caddyman 02-05-2008 09:37 PM

^^ what he said....lol

thats good i can change the word!!

You can change the word now as well.

Just go to plugins and change the [you] in three of this hacks plugins.

Boofo 02-06-2008 01:34 AM

Sure, but it's not as convenient as a setting.

vietdjclub 02-09-2008 11:44 PM

if you want show username with legend color then just

find Product : You Replacement

then open and replace userinfo['username'] with userinfo['musername']

valdet 03-04-2008 12:58 AM

any updates on the upgrade Boofo. those forumid settings would be a good addition

Boofo 03-04-2008 01:16 AM

The forumid settings won't work for this hack as users will still be able to enter the code. You would just end up with a lot of posts with the [you] showing it in instead of being parsed. That is why I added the vBulletin setting to change the word you choose to use. Just choose a word that only you and the staff would know. Once the user tries to use it and it doesn't work, that will have the same affect as any forumid settings would. There is no way to stop them from using the code in their posts. Changing the word at the Admin level stops any words from being parsed but what you have chosen. Does that make any sense? ;)

Can't wait for April Fools day. :D

thincom2000 03-18-2008 06:42 AM

Does this work correctly with the NOPARSE BB-Code?

I read a few pages back about this... Have you fixed the parsing after the AJAX responses (quick-edit & quick-reply)? Moving the plugins to more specific hooks will fix this (i.e. postbit_display_complete for showthread / archive / external / announcements / PMs, visitor_message_display_complete for Visitor Messages, among others). While moving the locations can result in more plugins, the code will only be executed when it is needed rather than on every page.

Boofo 03-18-2008 06:51 AM

Havew you tested any of that or is that a theory?

thincom2000 03-18-2008 06:55 AM

I have my own mods that had similar issues and were fixed by using a different hook location. Specifically the bug was not parsing after AJAX. I would have listed all the locations you need to include events and such, but I'm sleepy right now.

Your replacement would have to be made on the $var['message'] rather than $output (where $var is the correct name - $post, $message, etc - it would be $eventinfo['event'] for calendars I think)

Boofo 03-18-2008 07:11 AM

Well, get some sleep and please PM me when you are rested as I would like to hear more of your ideas for this. It is in a bad need of updating, anyway. ;)

malag 03-22-2008 10:31 AM

It's possible to run this bbcode in shoutbox?

cheat-master30 03-22-2008 12:18 PM

^Doesn't seem to be, and I've tried it a lot.

mauro1947 03-23-2008 05:58 PM

Works GREAT with vB 3.7.0 BETA 6 :D
Installed :)

Hornstar 03-30-2008 04:01 AM

Says last update was 30 Jan. I guess the updated version you talked about last month is still not uploaded, or did the last updated part in this thread not update when you updated it?

SVTCobraLTD 03-31-2008 12:39 PM

Anyone want to post up examples of theirs? In English please. Thanks

Will be installing for April Fools.

Thanks again Boofo:up:

I already have that :D, everyone's using it, so I disabled it.

They saw the code in the RSS.

Is it possible to limit the use to a certain usergroup?

JackThomson120 04-06-2008 09:40 PM

How do you hide the code from the vB Code list?

ArnyVee 04-13-2008 01:43 PM

Does anyone use this for personalized greetings (welcome posts, etc) or standard e-mail responses?

In other words, is it being used for something other than for jokes?

(I'll be using it for jokes as well, but want to use it to my advantage for the good of the forum) :)

I'd like to use this in a PM that can be sent automatically to any new members. How would I do that?

Boofo 04-13-2008 01:49 PM

I use it for welcome posts all the time. Makes them more personalized.

Actually, that is the main reason I wrote this hack. It just started getting used as a jokes hack somewhere along the line.

oly51 04-13-2008 10:23 PM

I use it for a photo voting contest: "[you], have you voted yet?" The number of votes almost doubled in the past week.

Boofo 04-13-2008 10:56 PM

That is a smart idea. Using it like that doesn't bring a lot of attention to it so it doesn't get overused by everyone. That is basically what is was designed for. ;)

mawby 05-04-2008 09:56 AM

This doesn't work if you press the preview button before posting. Your post ends up with the [tag] being changed for your name, then you press post and it looks like it's working but everyone else sees your name not theirs.

I will look into it.
