Using VBAdvanced CMPS the Chat link in the drop down Quick Links menu does not work. I think I need to add "$vboptions[bburl]/" to the front of the URL that calls chat. What file do I need to edit?

Thanx

Please read the main post.

Paul, i've a trouble when i tried to install this product, this is the trouble:

XML Error: syntax error at Line 3

what's up? (flashchat is already installed and working correctly)

KURTZ 04-07-2008 12:11 PM

also i've got another 'error': if i upload your files and i try to launch the chat i've a 'blank' page (i mean which i see only the skin without any 'menu')

Paul M 04-07-2008 03:29 PM

I suggest you download/unzip it again, sounds like corrupted files to me.

yaoren 04-07-2008 04:15 PM

Can this be integrated into the top portion of the forum home page? I've seen a few questions about this and am curious since I've had similar issues with other chat mods as Tolas has.

Paul M 04-07-2008 04:44 PM

If you edit templates appropriately then yes, but I cannot provide information on how to do that as it will vary from forum to forum. I can only support the default.

I've read a lot of good feedback on this although my main concern now would be the server load. Does it really slow things down and how is the chat (does it lag)

Paul M 04-07-2008 07:47 PM

That depends entirely on how busy the server is (is it shared or dedicated) and how many you have in the chat. You really need to visit the Tufat forums for more information about Flashchat, I just provide the intergration, I am not connected to them.

yaoren 04-07-2008 07:57 PM

I'm on a shared server although I read different reviews on their forum so wasn't sure if people had more information. Just thought I would post the question and see especially from your personal opinion. Anyhow thanks for answering my questions.

If you have time to, then please create a 'friends in flashchat notification' function.

Paul M 04-08-2008 06:55 AM

Which would do what exactly ?

ok i'm back, now all runs correctly (v 4.8.3) but there isn't a files corrupted Paul ... it's an installation trouble ... let me explain :)

1) installed the chat (4.8.3) correctly
2) uploaded your files and tried to install your (this) product without any other ... it doesn't run ...
3) tried to go in the chat, nothing to do the chat was 'blank' ...

after this:
4) re-installed the chat ... it runs again
5) imported your product and RUNS ... without the xml error ...

If a friend (member that is in the friends list: /forum/profile.php?do=buddylist ) is in flaschat, then that would provoke a notification.

The text for this notification could be: 'friends in chat (x)' Where x resembles the number or name of friends in flashchat. Clicking this would send the member to flashchat.

The location of this notification would optimally be in the notification menu in navbar, but another location like using the notices system may also be useful.

When the friend leaves flaschat, then the notification disappears or is deleted.

Would this be possible?

Following Error:

I installed This Plugin with FC 4.7.5 an all was working Fine.

Then I created a new usergroup in ACP with rights to enter chat.
Days later, those special users (called Coders) told me, they couldnt connect/enter the chat...

I tried resetting password etc. but nothing worked.

Now i tried, to set them back to the group "registered users" and gave them the other group aditionally. Now it works.

So i think NEW groups that get created, can't login into the Chat.

Could anyone try this and give feedback?

same trouble here with 4.8.3 FC ...

Sorry guys but you need to check your installations - specifically that you are using the vbulletin37CMS.php file provided by this mod, not the default one supplied in the FC package.

It should say this at the start ;

PHP Code:

/*
$Author: pem $
$Revision: 3.3 $
$Date: 2008/01/24 23:28:28 $

Written By Paul Marsden.

This CMS file is for Flashchat integration with vBulletin 3.7
This version uses Usergroup Integration and is supplied as part of my Integration Modification at vbulletin.org.

I run FlashChat on 1 of my forums which is used daily. I have had people complain of lockups and such but after trouble shooting came to the conclusion it has something to do on their PC. My primary concern is lack of development of the software as it does nto seem to be going anywhere anytime soon unfortunatly. But it is what it is and with 20 people it seems to be fine.

Paul M 04-08-2008 04:40 PM

Exactly - thats the standard version. You must use the version supplied by this mod, otherwise usergroup integration will simply not work.

OK, but this file was into your package which i've downloaded yesterday ... :) anyway, i've substituted the old file with the newer ...

Paul M 04-09-2008 06:49 AM

Nope, that version has never been in my download.

tldagent 04-12-2008 09:00 PM

I have had this installed and working for some time now and it still works but somehow or other the place to type in the chat has simply disapeared. Chat shows up, shows everyone who is logged in but no where to type. Also cannot do private messages either.

Anyone experience this yet? I'm using vb 3.7 RC1 and have updated the admin integration. Thank you.

Paul M 04-13-2008 12:20 AM

Sorry, thats an issue with flashchat or most likely your browser.

tldagent 04-13-2008 12:32 PM

Well, actually my browser hasn't changed and neither has flash chat. It's also effecting my members who use different browsers than myself but I use firefox and have for years. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this as many people use both flash chat and vbulletin with this hack.

I'll reinstall flash chat. Thanks for you help Paul!

macc 04-16-2008 11:53 AM

Hello!

can i use your hack with my flashchat ver 4.83 and vbulletin ver 3.7 rc-3? what i need to do if i can use your hack?

Paul M 04-16-2008 02:20 PM

When I tried to install the Flash Chat, Ido not have the PHP 5 Compatible, everything else is YES. Do I need PHP 5 in order to install it?

Paul M 04-19-2008 11:06 AM

No idea, for questions about flashchat you need to visit the tufat forum.

rapidphim 04-19-2008 01:45 PM

They have not yet answered my question. Thought someone might help me out here. Btw, does any have any idea how many queries this thing will use?

Paul M 04-19-2008 02:28 PM

By thing do you mean this mod, or flashchat in general ?

txspaderz 04-21-2008 08:10 PM

Is there a way to get this to show on the home page?

You know when you first trying to install the flash chat, there is a check section that flash chat performed before it starts, there I got a NO on PHP 5 thingy. I don't know it's required or I am OK to continue the installation without any issue.

Paul M 04-21-2008 09:30 PM

Sorry, I havent run the flashchat install in years, I cant answer you.

yaoren 04-22-2008 03:39 AM

I'm still going back and forth on this and was wondering can this be on the forum main page or not?

Ohiosweetheart 04-25-2008 05:17 PM

Paul, I'm having an issue with this. I have flaschat installed fine, using your mod, and both myself and my admin, can get to it just fine, without logging in of course, because we're already logged into the forum.

However, our logged in users cannot get in the chatroom. It asks them for a username and password, then tells them it is incorrect. I have all of the usergroup settings correct.

Am I missing something?
