I thought the movie was out... sad thing about Heat Ledger

deezelpope 01-26-2008 09:44 PM

I think it's coming out first on July 18th.

Yeah, such a tragedy.:(

kevcj 03-07-2008 01:33 PM

The joker died in the first batman. Remakes like this are lame as they destroy the story timeline.

Instead of bringing more villains from the comic books, somehow joker has come back to life, as if the first batman never happened. Now we have two jokers and 2 different batmans.

Next will be seeing the riddler and mr freeze again. Bah.

deezelpope 03-07-2008 05:11 PM

Dude, The Dark Knight goes back in time, and is a continuation of Batman Begins, and has nothing to do with the first movies. They're more seriously done...less family-friendly.

Btw, seven different actors have played Batman: Lewis Wilson in 1943's, Robert Lowery in 1949, Adam West in the 1966, Michael Keaton for the first few installments of Batman the Movies, to be replaced by Val Kilmer,George Clooney, and now, Christian Bale.;)

Did I mention there's another Two-Face/Harvey Dent?

I'm Seeing It On Friday Xd I Luv The Joker Xd

legionofangels 07-17-2008 12:38 AM

Seeing it in 2 days, will let you know, and yes with my cat named Joker, we are totally going to see the movie.

deezelpope 07-17-2008 10:39 AM

We're going Sunday morning!! SOOOO excited!:D

iogames 07-17-2008 04:12 PM

I'm ready for tomorrow!

Why so serious?

I saw a special screening of this movie. Mr. Luke you have nothing to be skeptical about. heath gives the performance of a lifetime. best I've ever seen.

Oscar-worthy from what I understand.https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/07/12.gif:up:

I just got back from the midnight showing. Heath's performance is oscar-worthy, the intricacies he has created are mesmerizing and his comedic timing is absolutely stunning.

However, I felt the role is not oscar worthy...when you inspect the character of the Joker in this film, it's a very one-dimensional...It's extremely tragic that this was Ledger's final complete performance. :(

Everyone should go see this film!

There were midnight shows here, as well, and we wanted to go really badly, but with my husband's work obligations, it just wasn't possible.:(

I agree with what you said about the role not being oscar-worthy...seems preposterous to me.

Now, a question: would Ledger's performance still be considered oscar-worthy if he wasn't dead? I really believe his death has a lot, if not everything, to do with it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting his skill or talent, but seriously, how many times has a Batman movie been considered, much less nominated, for the Oscars? The only other mention I could find was a nomination for Best Cinematography for Batman Begins.

I'm not the only one questioning it, read here.

I agree with you Dawn. Yes, he's a great actor, but I also feel that he is only being mentioned as an Oscar contender because of the tragic way in which he died.

bornoffire 07-18-2008 10:39 AM

Only one person has ever got an Oscar after being dead. That was over 40 years ago.

I am a huge batman fan. And yes joker is my favorite character. I sure hope he does joker justice, can't wait to go see.

Here is my Halloween Costume for last year. The costume itself took 3 months to be custom fitted and the face took 4 hours to do. The application is a foam latex that covers most of my face, extending the chin and the nose.

Thanks Dean. Do you find that rather sad and insulting or am I the only one?

I'm sorry, and I'm sure it's not your fault as I've seen it elsewhere, but your information is incorrect: the first person to win a post-humous Oscar was Gone With the Wind screenwriter Sidney Howard; the only actor to win a posthumous Oscar (so far) was Peter Finch, for Network. Audrey Hepburn was posthumously awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1993.

can't wait - taking the kids tomorrow to the IMAX

I heard Fandango.com sold 90% of their "Dark Knight" tickets - biggest selloff ever.

I disagree and really dont think it matters. oscars are given based on performance, not whether the role is "oscar worthy"

maybe I'm wrong, but thats my opinion. either way, his performance was amazing. and so is the movie

Brandon Sheley 07-18-2008 02:09 PM

we're going to go watch it tonight :D

Princeton 07-20-2008 03:55 PM

watched it on IMAX - simply amazing;

the "nurse" scene was fantastic, comical, and unforgettable!

If you ask me, absolutely. Before Ledgers death, the previews of him playing the joker were fantastic. I found myself asking.. myself if I would still feel the same way had he not died, and I would 100%. His death is tragic, but it would not be my personal deciding factor whether he did a great job or not. I'm extremely picky when it comes to movies, and actors.. Ledger nailed this role. Hands down. I don't think I've ever seen someone get into character as much as he did with this.

It makes Nicholsons Joker look like something out of an SNL skit now. Seriously.

No doubt, Ledger's performance was nothing short of spectacular, I wasn't questioning that, but there weren't whispers of an Oscar before his death. I was also pointing out how good The Academy is at snubbing movies and actors' performances like these. I mean, come on, it's about a comic book!

Brandon Sheley 07-20-2008 10:42 PM

I seen it the 2nd night

wasn't impressed

Actually, my husband is a comic artist.

Of course I watched it, I had to see what all the fuss was about, but I really didn't care for it.

07-21-2008 06:24 AM

this movie was unbelievable from start to finish. you wouldn't even notice you've sat past 2 and a half hours of it. the performances of Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart were awe-inspiring and deserve applause. this is the best movie of 2008 hands down, and its going to be up there as one of the best movies of all-time.

dvduval 07-22-2008 12:41 AM

I am totally going to go watch this on IMAX.

Wow! I just came in...

Just incredible! it's incredible how one single performance can outshadow the ones on the first series with Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVitto, Tommy Lee Jones [even Jim Carey's ;)]

did you see the guy using vBulletin!?!?! that was hilarious :D:D:D

Saw this movie today. Everything about the movie from start to finish was exceptional with so many great twists and turns. I really love what Cristopher Nolan has done to the Batman series :)
