I PM'ed you about it.

But it was 2 things, not capitalising the Off and On options in one of the profile fields and secondly, you are using postbit_legacy, so the template edit needed it on there.

I have fixed up all 3 styles for you.

Have fun :)

Thank You !!!

silver surfer 12-20-2007 07:04 AM

lol...sorry...i pmed you about the new problem already...maybe u can help again, but it keeps my forum url in front of the www.google.com url and i get this error if i click the panic button :

The requested URL /www.google.com was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

weird...any idea ?

You need to use the full url - http://www.google.com is good, www.google.com is not good (your site will think it is a local url).

I have replied to your PM with the solution.

Well, providing support to you, showed me a couple of weaknesses in the instructions, so I am now updating the instructions and uploading them soon :)

Mosh 12-20-2007 07:36 AM

Updated hack to v1.0.2
- added instructions for postbit_legacy
- added note about using full url and not partial one (will cause errors).

Note: silver surfer does not need to update to this version, as I already made the changes for him.

Brilliant, installed, having trouble with the blog one if you get some time spare would you please refer to my reply in the blog thread for this mod of yours.
Great work, thanks.

red-dna 03-25-2008 05:40 PM

Very cool mod,
but is an error in instruction
PHP Code:

<!-- panic button by jdsinclair -->
<
iif condition="$bbuserrinfo[field5] == On"><a href="$bbuserinfo[field6]"

i think the right is
PHP Code:

<if condition...

You are correct, so I have updated the hack to v1.0.3 :)

mblb 03-27-2008 03:29 AM

The button is not showing for me.

dragginblazer 03-27-2008 02:47 PM

Not showing for me either now.

EDIT: I changed the code back to

PHP Code:

<iif condition="$bbuserrinfo[field5] == On"><a href="$bbuserinfo[field6]"

and it works fine

Update to v1.0.4, I introduced a typo into the v1.0.3 instructions that was causing the problem.

mblb,

Thanks for allowing me to use your forum to fix the hack.

It is all working on your forum now, and it is the latest version v1.0.4, so you do not have to upgrade to the new version, although I would download the zip file for future reference.

You can now remove the temp admin account you PM'ed me :)

anoob 04-07-2008 09:54 AM

I am having problems, and can not get this to work, can you help me please?

WoodPusher 04-07-2008 05:34 PM

Installed, not showing on a 3.6.9 VB Forum.

If you have done everything and rechecked the work, then I can not see what is wrong without taking a look at your site.

[s]So, if want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an temp admin user (with admin permissions - Can Administer Users for editing User Profile Fields and Can Administer Styles for editing templates) without these I cannot help you. I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English), so it is up to you what you want to do.[/s]

I got your admin details and have had a look at your installation of this hack, and it works fine.

I could not find any problems at all, and did not have to make any alterations.

The hack works as advertised :)

Mosh 05-07-2008 12:05 AM

Panic Button (TMS Compatible) for v3.7.x is now available here. :)

sweptwingnut 05-16-2008 05:43 PM

Installed and working.

One area of possible correction for me regarding changing the fields.

You said that in
"Step 4:
******

In postbit (and/or postbit_legacy) template, find:

<if condition="$post['editlink']">

Above it, paste:

<!-- panic button v1.0.4 by Mosh Shigdar -->
<if condition="$bbuserinfo[field7] == On"><a href="$bbuserinfo[field8]"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/panic.gif" border="0" alt="Boss Key" /></a></if>
<!-- end of panic button -->

NOTE: Replacing field5 with the Field ID from Step 2, and field6 with the Field ID from Step 3.

You are all done :)"

This confused me a bit trying to figure out where the heck field 5 and 6 were located. I figured out that you meant to say replace the code [field7] with the Field ID from Step 2 and [field8] with the Field ID from step 3 and it worked. In my case, the code now reads [field21] and [field22] respectively.

Hope that helps the next guy.

You are correct, I actually amended the intructions in v1.0.4, from notes I took when fixing up mblb's installation, I acidentally left in the field IDs used with his installation in the instructions...... but that is now rectified

Update: v1.0.5
  • Fixed typos
  • Clarified the instructions even more

NOTE: If you have this installed and working, then no need to update at all !!!

Vinyljunky 05-23-2008 01:37 PM

Hello,

I have this installed on VB3.7 postbit_legacy with TMS

It doesnt seem to be picking up the default value of http://www.google.com

It works fine if I enter it manually?

Ok Ive just realised that it doesnt use the default value for existing users. is there anyway around this?

Thanks

VinylJunky

I can confirm that it does not display the default value (it should but it does not, don't know why), but it should work fine when members enter it manually when activating it in their profile.

Boofo 05-25-2008 04:00 PM

I got it to display a default value but I had to do a conditional in the template to get it to do it.

Hey Bob,

Do you mind PMing me the code? If you don't, then will then add it to the main code :)

Boofo 05-25-2008 08:56 PM

PM on the way. ;)

Mosh 09-03-2008 04:20 AM

NOTE: This hack is now discontinued - this means that while it will remain available for download and use, there will be no further updates, nor will support be provided as the thread is no longer monitored. But not to worry, you can now check out the new 3.7.x version of this hack, as it also works with v3.6.10 (and maybe even earlier versions).
