It has only been tested on 3.6.8, but it's worth a try on 3.6.7 PL1. It certainly doesn't touch anything important, so I would give it a try.

If it works, we'd appreciate if you could post back here and let us know, so we can let others know.

Thanks a ton!

Sure buddy will do that currently it`s 3.08am in India so gotta hit the sack and will try it out as soon as i get up :D

and will post it here whatever the result it gives :)

May have been mentioned earlier in this thread, not sure due to lack of sleep on my part and words blending together, but is there a way to make this product act also as a newsletter that members can actively subscribe to (noticed it had unsubscribe) so that the forums would have a better way of sending out a monthly newsletter to their members on a per subscribed basis?

If it sends the PM we have to make sure they are not to receive any sort of e-mail after they have been de-activated. So yes this can be done both ways, so yes if you are wanting this portion added we will add it.

Blending words do sound good to the ears when mixed right after a lack of sleep. We have a solution that has a subscribe to which is our MadMailer (universal plug-n-play :) see my sig for this.), which vbMailer was derived from.

I think they should sign up for your forums, knowing and acknowledge that they are signing up for any and all e-mails from the admins/ of the forums, which gives you the authority to send out what you like and how you like as long as they keep receiving e-mails from the admins if they opt to sign-up.

So you are saying you would like an opt-in type of form that vbMailer would make for you to place on your forums for others to sign-up with?

military-space 08-21-2007 10:56 PM

yes exactly, an opt-in type for a regular newsletter. We already send out emails to all users when needed to announce site upgrades, server downtime expectations, things like that. I have yet to see a plugin/product that would accomplish a full featured newsletter mod for the forums.

blogtorank 08-21-2007 11:16 PM

Well you know, you've already downloaded the mod, let us know if you have installed it yet to go through it all in the LITE version... Because after you install it, it'll be better to make recommendations and ideas to better suit your needs. Also this will enable us to understand fully what you need and want.

blogtorank 08-22-2007 12:50 AM

I am quoting the funniest of all PM I have ever seen:

Quote:

Can I send spam email with this ????
That's up to you on how you use it, why would I say yes to a certain question like this? That's up to you and how you do it. Remember the old rule of thumb, "If you do S!@# in your bed, you have to lay in it!" Unless you clean it....

Anyhow, point is these kind of questions are the funniest ones, that's like me asking the FBI if we can sell illegal materials... So not to look down on others or slam others, please be careful and don't ask us questions like this...

Besides, anyone with a little computer sense could easily track the email back to your forums' website.

Do what you will, but don't whine when karma takes its toll.

blogtorank 08-22-2007 02:59 AM

v1.1 Updating coming shortly:

#--------------------- EPC vbMailer-v1.1 ---------------------#
  • Charts for campaigns (flash charts / popup window from 'Manage Campaigns', 'Statistics' link)
  • Email attachments through all systems (compose, templates and autoresponders)
  • PM bounced users / set other email options to inactive
    • So to not make loops we are going to make it where it disables all e-mails sent out within the User Options:
      • From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.
        Quote:

        Receive Email from Administrators
      • You can allow other members to send you email messages.
        Quote:

        Receive Email from Other Members
      • The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.
        Quote:

Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages
Where each of these options will be disabled on the user until they update their e-mail or manage their settings to update the next time they login and read their PM.
  • Automatic link changing to allow link tracking (Marketers should love this)
So do you have anymore recommendations or adds to this easy v1.1 roll out? If so do add it to our list. If not we will be looking at your suggestions and recommendations here within the forums to get an overview of what everyone wants in this "All in one" solution. See below of a couple screenshots of what's done so far for the campaign tracking...

Where it'll have charts and all the goodies to keep the ones satisfied in figuring out who clicked what and how many!

What do you think of that? Works for you?

blogtorank

Shared hosting invariably has a limit as to the number of email per hour.
Can the full version be used so that it works it's way through a list of 3000+ members and send at the rate of 50 per day or 20 per hour etc.

Also can it be used via the server .php mail function and not SMTP

Not our shared hosting, we have that option in there to do it, but you can send unlimited as you like. I'll send you a link later to ours if you PM me requesting this. Yes you can use the full version to make it work that way! Not at 50 per day, php will go to sleep and the process will die...

Remember this is a PHP script, and if it times out because of a prolonged sleep of sends of e-mails then you need to adjust it, or better yet get away from the oh so "Limited" hosts!

EDIT:
Last question:

Yes this is up to your server you are on and if it supports it, see the docs on this.. We support SMTP, phpmail(), and sendmail.

Support is not only us but for the WHOLE community of vBulletin (affordable too) (Do note that LITE has those limits as mentioned and as you can see...), but look here, I'll post it in your response just so I don't have 50,000 posts to catch up on today, do please don't mind me one bit here because I just received a PM and here is his answer ;):

Quote:

I have a few questions about the full version of EPC mailing:

1. Wich are the differences between LITE and FULL ?

2. Am I able to use "customfields" on the email ?

3. How this mod affects server load ?

4. What kind of autoresponders you can setup
1. Differences are not much but more flexibility and support for sending out unlimited vs the LITE not coded to have support for sending out Autoresponders and not able to handle unlimited e-mails as two main differences, each one has the same features, just in the FULL you have more control over the settings and it handles unlimited. For you to see the difference of the two you should go to the webpage for the FULL and compare it via screenshots if needed. Overall we have ALOT of copies sold, but you are well known to be as a supporter, we aren't making profits, we are simply getting ready to release many more hacks for the community, namely our last ones here:

2. Yes you can use custom fields in e-mails. See in the hacks description which states:

Yours I am planning a whole separate and FREE Mod, which I think is the best bet here, because our intention with vbMailer is outlined as communications for e-mails :) So to mix the two together can cause a headache on a lot of areas. We did a lot of planning on it already, just now in the stages of putting this to motion after we release v1.1 here.

I bought the full version (well worth the price). I had a bit of trouble with install, but the people at blogtorank had me up and running fast -- great service! I can't wait to use this. I've tried a lot of solutions, but I think this script will do the best job for me. I'll try to follow up when I send out a newsletter in a few days.

ChurchMedia 08-22-2007 09:56 PM

After looking this over, I have a few things for the wish-list:
  1. I'd like to be able to choose which usergroups to send to.
  2. I LOVE the bounced email feature -- I'd like to be notified of which users bounced and I'd like the option to selectively delete those users.
  3. I'd like a separate user setting for if users want an email or not. So they can turn that on and off in their user CP.
  4. I also need (actually have to have by law) an unsubcription link.
  5. I didn't see a way to delete a future emailing after you've created it. I think that needs to be in there.

Those are things I can think of right now. I REALLY like the auto-features in this script. It's going to make my life a lot easier.

Agree with all this

1. Love this request, will surely look at how this can be done seamlessly!

2. Love the bounces too :), keeps the inbox empty of the ones that have a issue with their mail servers and etc.. We are working for the PM to the member here for v1.1 (set to release this evening)

3. User setting? You mean a NEW option inside the user-side under their User CP?

4. This is done by the footer of each one! Technically this will cover you would it not???

5. Elaborate on number 5 more for me please...

Life is much easier now when sending e-mails.

#3 -- Yes, a separate setting (Maybe two -- One to subscribe/unsubscribe and one for HTML or plain text preference).

#4 -- Cool! I didn't know that. So there is a link that will turn off emails for each user -- that should do it!

#5 -- Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I set up a test email to go out on 8/22/07 -- then I wanted to delete it. I couldn't find a way to do that.

Thanks for your help! :)

Why would you want a HTML or Text our system does this automatically, it'll serve them their required type... Meaning it's a smart system ;) In another words that's one less thing they need to worry about, I had a lady ask me what's HTML e-mail vs TXT. So you see what I mean? It will serve them their needs per their e-mail client's settings, basically if they can only get TXT then the text portion is served... See what I mean? If it's HTML they can get then they get the pretty HTML version...

Like Snoop would say, "Loosen up my buttons baby."

#4 Answer: The link is inside their User CP (Options)... Accept e-mails from admins...

#5 Answer: Oh yeah good point, don't send none out that you don't want to be sent, until we get a cancellation trigger done! (v1.2 for that for sure)

Am I missing anything?

ChurchMedia 08-23-2007 02:37 AM

I understand that and I think it's a cool feature, but I have members that specifically want text emails even though they can receive HTML. My last system (ListMail Pro) would give them the option and a lot of my members just prefer text to HTML. I don't know why...

It would just be a nice option to have.

Just fill in the text one only :) That's all you have to do, you don't HAVE to fill in the HTML...

But then there's no way for me to know who wants text and who wants HTML. I think HTML emails get a better response, so I'm not going to send out a text-only email. I prefer HTML. It would just be great to know that the 10% (or whatever) of my users that want text are getting it. Is it a hard option to include? My last emailer system had that feature. It would seem to be just an extra if conditional in the script...????

Extra in the script, extra in the registration, extra in the profile "user cp options." A few extras in the MySQL, need more extras? LOL

Anyhow let us figure that one out and we'll surely get it pegged for you, because this is a registration thing you see? When they register for your forums they need to check the box on the optional area at the end if you use it, "Receive e-mails from admins." this extra opt for html or text, will be needed in there as a "Required" as per your needs you see?
