I don't know as I have not run it on 3.7 myself.

Nested Posts - Pretty smart idea

I can confirm that it works perfectly well in 3.7.0 Gold :)

You misunderstood it. I'm not suggesting that it should be default in vbulletin.

What I'm saying is that this modification should be for a small button next to the quote button (like the multi-quote button https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/09/10.gif ), to allow it as a choice when quoting a post.

I don't have the time to design and create a new button, if you want to, feel free to.

Was anything ever done about having the code allow regular quoting with one button and nested quoting with another? I love this mod, but some of my users will hit quote and want to remove the second quote and they goof and it ends up a mess. I'd love to have two buttons - one for regular quoting and the other for nested quoting. (I don't use standard vb buttons, so I can make my own for my site - perhaps have the new code a download option for those who have the two buttons?)

You could probably check for an extra GET parameter (from the button) in the code to see if it should nest or not.

which i will never, ever understand.....
no clue why vbulletin is coded that way. i once filed a bugreport about this, but it was rejected.....

regarding this modification, THANKS!
i like it! :)

How to Disable [IMG] In [QUOTE] Tags?? : (

Dismounted 07-14-2008 06:05 AM

That is not one of the goals of this modification - that is another "subject" entirely.

Artes_Marciales 07-14-2008 06:12 AM

I understand, but they did not show the images in the quotes and after installing his mod indeed and at my forums they show again...
Else I find a solution I will have to his mod uninstall : (

Dismounted 07-15-2008 09:22 AM

This modification will implement normal vBulletin behaviour, and will not change that. It only makes sure it doesn't strip quotes.

Works perfectly on my 3.72 board! Thank you very much for this important and useful enhancement. I came across the need after a couple of months, when I wanted to citate myself and the replier to my post together. A riddle, that it took so long to discover this lack and that would be an important addition to a next vb-release indeed. Thanks again! :)

Mrdby 10-01-2008 10:45 PM

still works for 3.7.3

Keesa 12-16-2008 12:14 PM

Oh, I hope this keeps working because the person who wrote the one for 3.7 does not include a limit on nested quotes.... it must be limited or the board members go crazy quoting "for fun"

MyraB 01-11-2009 08:35 AM

One of the best add-ons ever. You've made my forum members very happy. Thanks!

jgs007 01-21-2009 10:32 AM

seems to work fine on 3.8 also.

cbehan 04-12-2010 08:27 PM

I have this add-on running in 3.8 and my users love it.

I'm planning on moving to 4.0 and I have the following issue:

When I open "new Article" in the CMS, I get the following error:

Quote:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare nested_quotes() (previously declared in /home/tippingp/public_html/vb4test/packages/vbcms/controller/content.php(84) : eval()'d code:3) in /home/tippingp/public_html/vb4test/packages/vbcms/controller/content.php(84) : eval()'d code on line 3
Can anyone help?

It works fine for me with vB4.03. I've tested nested quote posting the forum and that works perfectly, and also just tested creating a new article in the vBCMS and had no errors.

This was already installed when I upgraded from vB3.8.4 to vB4.0.3. And I've had it installed and working since vB3.6.4.

You might be running another plugin/product that is causing this error message, rather than nested quotes itself. Have you tried disabling nested quotes and seeing if the error still happens?

Installed on 4.0.6 with no problems.
