newforum 05-13-2007 02:54 AM

Upgraded my site from 3.6.5 to 3.6.6. The installation went very smooth. Within some few steps i upgraded my site.

And all my products, plugin and templates changes are working without any modifications.

Check my site, have no bugs found. Still testing it.
Great work VB.

Brandon Sheley 05-13-2007 03:37 AM

my update went pretty smooth :)
was 3.6.4 patched to .5 > 3.6.6

Greek76 05-13-2007 11:23 AM

I was going to update to 3.6.5 and now 3.6.6 come out lol. Im going to hold off with my luck as soon as I upgrade 3.6.10 would come out.

giovannicosta 05-13-2007 12:04 PM

Everything working brill!

rayw 05-13-2007 12:06 PM

I'm thinking I might hold off on the update for a while. Wait and see what other people discover with the update (any problems/issues etc), not to mention it is really going to suck because of all my template edits!

projectego 05-13-2007 12:30 PM

Woo-hoo! 3.6.6 is finally available! :D

[high]* projectego upgrades[/high]

I'm glad for you. You must have a simple skin on your forum. Now is when I wish I did

I wish I'd waited. There's already talk on vb.com of a patch and a fix for something-or-another.

I know the feeling - it's taken me a few hours to upgrade the vb.org testforum, ready to copy over tonight. I had 27 customised templates to fix ......

The Admins cover different areas of responsibility on the site, upgrades are generally handled by myself - usually on Sundays.

GrendelKhan{TSU 05-13-2007 05:15 PM

I'm dreading this upgrade. I have a feel that if I can ONLY take 6 hrs that ohiosweet took to upgrade I will be lucky. :(

my personal new mantra rhyme:
"Custom skins and template mods are great...
right up until you gotta do the vbull forums update."

+_+

heh.

DieselMinded 05-13-2007 05:15 PM

When looking at a users profile all the fields have a big space in front of them .......

I would ask vBulletin.com all questions relating to the upgrade

Does it help to know that I'm STILL fixing things on my forum that this upgrade broke?

TTG 05-13-2007 06:57 PM

I think this is one upgrade I can miss. There seem to be so many horror stories on here and vbulletin.com.

Ditto. I'm still running 3.6.4 with heavily customized style, 20+ mods.
Seems like I can skip 3.6.6 together. 6 hours can be better spent with family.
Waiting for the 4.0 version :)

Ohiosweetheart 05-13-2007 08:51 PM

I wish I had... I finally had to completely revert my forum, re-upload my custom skin, and reinstall all of my mods, re-do template edits, etc. ughhhhhhhhhhh...

Mudvayne 05-14-2007 04:31 AM

I'm gonna do this tonight or tomorrow :(. I've already edit few code for modification & uploaded all the files. All I need is now replace the file, hit upgrade.php & edit template :scary:. Editing template is the biggest pain :(. I just decided yesterday I better use 1 skin instead of two! I have another work to do. Make my site XHTML transitional :(. I wish I had Paul M as the Administrator of my site. So that he generally himself do that upgrade on every sunday & I can sleep :p.

O M G
I SOOOOOOOOOOOO know that's what I'm going to have to do.

maybe I'll just wait till the version with the blogs and social networking come out (my guess around 4.0 heh) or when I have a full free weekend available...whichever comes first.

er...wait... dang it... it said you need to do this one first before doing that?
wait... wouldn't it just take you through this update?

They are coming in the next 3 or so months, I think you will find vb is still v3.6, not 3.7 or 4.0.

Doc31 05-14-2007 10:38 AM

2 mins to upload and overwrite files , 3 mins to upgrade. cool stuff no errors or problems

Same here, all I got left to fix now is the calendar, my Sunday was totally wasted, I hope the next few updates are files and less template changes.

3.6.6 seems to work nice though, many bug fixes.

UGH - imo this should have been a major upgrade, rather than just a version # change. Something this big should have been 3.7, if not 4.0

Very true, they are going up slowly on numbers :)

My calendar seems to be working ok - what's not working on yours Shawn?

The_Dan 05-14-2007 03:57 PM

My members cant post links unless they have 10 posts, is there anyway to remove this ?

Thanks to anyone that helps.

Brandon Sheley 05-14-2007 04:01 PM

I didn't think the upgrade was that major ? :erm:
Peggy, if your still having problems, you know where to find me :)
I'll give ya a friendly hand

Oh its the usual thing, it works, everything always works, and I like bug fixes as much as anyone. I just have to spend money, hours doing recoding, and setting widths every time I revert because of the custom template, no idea why 90% of the site and MOD's use the Var and CSS and they don't. /shrug

Cheers,

Not really, there are no real functionality changes, just a minor addition to the ACP. Mainly just a bunch of bug fixes and a few more than normal template changes. :)

Use the style download to save them.

Skedoozy 05-14-2007 09:59 PM

Ugh.. I hate upgrading.. and haven't done so since 3.6.1. I have a lot of customized core file from various hacks. I can't even remember them all. I wish I could pay someone to do it.

..... and added hooks, and mandatory reverts, etc etc. I still think it should have been at least 3.7 :)

Yeah I know - just the hooks, and moving things around, in preparation for the tools and add-ons.

King Sawaryn 05-15-2007 12:33 AM

Awesome. I just done upgrading my forum and it all went very smooth.

Thanks guys!

TheHeartSmasher 05-15-2007 01:21 AM

Worked like a charm, now just imagine what a 3.7 or even a 4.0 will look like. Hopefully it will take AJAX (YUI) the use of photoshop and Dreamweaver with some advanced PHP to the next level.

dadu911 05-15-2007 11:14 AM

I keep on getting hacked. Even though I updated to 3.6.6.

Someone named TOM hacks all the theads, the first post gets renamed to his name and has a picture of him saying: TOM OWNS YOU.

Is there any extra security I can add on to VBULLETIN.

The exploit for 3.6.6 is out already!!! Got hacked twice now!

TECK 05-15-2007 02:59 PM

Open a ticket to vBulletin Support.
