Anyone have success on 3.5 forums? Or know if it will work before I test it out?

Dismounted 08-30-2007 07:46 AM

It will work provided you remove all instances of this from the xml file.
Code:

executionorder="5"

michaelsilvia 08-30-2007 05:03 PM

Thanks Dismounted, you rock!

Any idea on a 3.6.8 tim frame?

michaelsilvia 08-31-2007 01:23 AM

So, from this:
<plugin active="1" executionorder="5">

to this:
<plugin active="1">

Is that it?

Mike

Does not work for 3.5, got DB errors

Mike

Dismounted 08-31-2007 10:47 AM

What do you get?

I agree - I'm using his other mod that rewrites links to AuctionAds and it too doesn't work. I've posted in that thread but never heard back...

Dismounted, just wanted to say thank you again for releasing this.

The 3 min of my time to plug it in has earned me a significant amount of cash over the past 20 days. The best part, is that its serving advertising, without serving advertising! The users post it anyway, and while 90% of the time, its just some random "jesus toast" on ebay, the 15 day cookie is working wonders :)

So, thank you again.

And, let me know if you plan on an amazon hack :D

Guys,

I'm just becoming acquainted with the EBay affiliate program so please be gentle :) am I correct in that this mod uses a 15 day cookie (I'm reading about the affiliate program on EBay while writing this now) to "bump up" the standard 7 day referral limit they discuss in the FAQ?

Just want to make sure this doesn't violate any adsense-esque type of rule or law..

Dismounted 09-09-2007 06:10 AM

This mod simply rewrites links to eBay through their affiliate program-type links.

I did exactly as Dismounted said, just simply did a find and remove on the .xml and it 'seems' to be working fine for me...

dssart 09-10-2007 10:10 PM

I'd like to try this, but would like a stable version for 3.6.8..does the above work 100%? any problems? Will gladly donate if it works and makes me some bank...

sinucello 09-25-2007 10:03 AM

Hi,

thanks a lot. I just installed it and would like to use it for the german Ebay partner-program.

I changed line 43 of the xml to:
Code:

if (!$parsie['host'] OR !preg_match('/(.*)ebay\.[a-z0-9]+/i', $parsie['host']) OR preg_match('/partners\.webmasterplan\.com/i', $parsie['host']))
Not sure if I got that one right. This should contain the domain of the rewritten URLs to prevent double-rewriting right?

and line 57 to:
Code:

$newurl = 'http://partners.webmasterplan.com/click.asp?ref=372170&site=1382&type=text&tnb=23&diurl=' . rawurlencode(str_replace('&', '&', $url));
Please note that the IDs in line 57 are hardcoded. The ID entered in the VB-settings will NOT be used, you will have to edit the xml-file manually and enter your ref and site IDs there.

Here is the line of code again, this time with markers instead of my IDs:
Code:

$newurl = 'http://partners.webmasterplan.com/click.asp?ref=###enter_your_ref_id_here###&site=###enter_your_site_id_here###&type=text&tnb=23&diurl=' . rawurlencode(str_replace('&', '&', $url));
Works for me, maybe someone can use this.

all the best,
Sacha

Will this rewrite the links from vBPortal RSS feed module?

BTW - Since I began using this 15 days ago I have made $95.00 from eBay and am beginning to average $9.00 a day!!!!

Just sent ya a little thank you money for this great mod.

ETDC 09-26-2007 06:47 AM

Interesting.

• Will this re-write links to eBay.com to eBay.co.uk?
• My members write all different types of links to auctions - will this convert all of them?
• If someone from the US clicks the link to eBay.co.uk but eventually buys through .com, what happens then?
• Does this work on 3.6.8 yet?

:)

1./ This will rewrite any eBay links (regardless of extension) through their affiliate program.
2./ Yes.
3./ This would be a question you should ask eBay.
4./ Some people say it's working, some people say it's not working. I haven't had a chance to install a 3.6.8 test board, so I cannot confirm.

Thanks. :) I'm an affiliate of .co.uk - Would I need an affiliate scheme with .com to receive payment from eBay.com links? Probably not your bag, granted, but it'll take days to get an answer from eBay I expect!

bplinson 09-26-2007 07:02 PM

Um.....will it rewrite ebay links from vbPortal RSS feeds?

ETDC 09-26-2007 07:46 PM

Will install when stable and confirmed for 3.6.8

Last time I checked, they run through the same affiliate system.

Yes, it should.

ETDC 09-27-2007 07:16 AM

Installed and appears to be working on 3.6.8.

If this thing is successful, you'll have some bux comin' your way! :)

Dismounted 09-27-2007 11:50 AM

Let me know how it's working on your 3.6.8 board.

ETDC 09-27-2007 01:00 PM

Just checked my CJ panel and on 'Quick Stats' no clicks are registering with them it would seem. :(

ETDC 09-28-2007 08:54 PM

Sorry to report that the re-writes are clearly not working... :(

Dismounted 09-29-2007 05:50 AM

Is this a clean board?

ETDC 09-29-2007 08:06 AM

Relatively - only a few mods.

Actually, I'm thinking - do clicks/impressions actually register with CJ or is it only the ones that are generated directly with the eBay Editor?

I'll PM you a link to check out.:)

ETDC 09-30-2007 08:56 PM

Is this working for anyone else on 3.6.8?

ETDC 10-01-2007 08:43 AM

I had CJ check functionality and this is what they had to say (my comments below):

Quote:

All clicks/impressions/sales generated through your links (with your PID in link's code) will be registered and appear in your status.
This is not happening (and I know that both .co.uk and .com re-written links are being clicked).

Quote:

To became affiliate with eBay US you have to apply to their program first, be accepted and then create new links for this advertiser (its separate program from eBay UK). At this moment you are already using ebay.com links but you havent got relationship with them threfore your links are invalid.
So, this mod is only valuable (when it works) if you link to one eBay domain (as the mod can't change links to different eBay PIDs). My site has both .com and .co.uk links.

Hope this doesn't come across as knocking you or the mod - that's not the case. I'd love this mod to not only work, but also work for both UK and US eBay domains. :)

I've subscribed to both and there are two things to note if your debating the two. Auctionads gives you a $25 getting started bonus, and the official eBay affiliate links load faster.

Dismounted 10-08-2007 06:47 AM

Those errors are caused by URLs not properly posted. You just need to edit the post and get rid of it.

bplinson 10-08-2007 09:03 AM

What does AID=5463217 stand for? It is in the code and also in all links that are created.

Dismounted 10-09-2007 10:05 AM

The eBay Affiliate System is run my Commission Junction. The AID simply stands for Affiliate Identification Number, 5463217 is eBay's number.

Great mod, however using the auctionad code killed my quick reply refresh.

RETRACTED: it was the 'first post' code I was using.

emdee 10-10-2007 04:53 PM

could someone please provide more info on this mod for a newbie and provide a demo link.
thanks
:)

Try the threads here http://www.eagletransporter.com/foru...isplay.php?f=9

I don't think this mod is working though - I know they're being clicked (and there has definately been sales) but nothing is registering with CJ. :(

Dismounted 10-11-2007 09:55 AM

The mod is doing it's job. It's rewriting the URLs successfully, as you can see yourself. Unless the URL format has changed, it's an eBay problem that they're not registering.

briansol 10-11-2007 08:54 PM

mod has been working fine for me for months now on several forum and even on the latest 3.6.8 install.

The interface in the Control Panel says:

"Enter your eBay Affiliate PID". Shouldn't this be the Commision Junction PID (for the particular website the forum is on) as shown on CJ?.

eBay has advertiser IDs ('AID' I think) not PIDs.

Can you clarify? :)

Dismounted 10-13-2007 04:22 AM

It's the number you get from CJ, so yes, Commission Junction PID.
