I do not know Ziki, but I do not like the attitude of most of you in this thread! Even the Administrator. Ya'll ought to be ashamed. It's a free modification. You could tell him nicely that something doesn't work, instead of demanding. This is the kind of thing that keeps me from releasing things here.

Anyways, Ziki, I will be trying this on my forum. Thanks.

RichieBoy67 03-21-2007 11:18 PM

You both sound like two kids.....

Perhaps instead of releasing 90 billion mods and them crying about people complaining you should take your time and release them when they are done...
Have you seen the mods here??? The arcades? The article mods... geez... I could go on and on and on.... Go take a look at their instructions! They are professionals for sure...

Asking for some instructions is not much to ask for... If you don't have the time to release them right then don't release them at all!

And what kind of stupid comment is that Junky? Who are you to throw out insults like that?
I do get impatient when I have to reinstall a simple mod 8 times in order for it to work... This mod was very simple compared to most and you don't hear them complaining.......

I will stop now.. I just get so agravated at crap like this... It was not our fault this mod did not work. Any moron can upload some files and install a plug in...... Your plug in was incorrect! I appreciate you taking the time to do it and blah, blah, blah... That is not the point though...

Why not concentrate on quality mods and not quantity. You must have more releases here then anyone....

Hi Ziki. It's great that you are contributing to the community. I think what Paul is suggesting is that you will better serve your end users and reduce your work load (for support, etc) if you put more time up front on testing prior to release. One good method our team has used is getting a group of forum admins who are willing to try out your plugins and ensure that they are working at 100% prior to release. Our pre-release team has been fundamental to our success. We give them the code and basically hope that they will break it! If they do, we fix it. If they can't, we know that the next GOLD version of vBSEO is ready for release. ;)

Oftentimes, a few small tweaks is all you need for the fix. But the problem expands if you release too early because you may get hundreds of users all reporting the issue at the same time and requiring feedback from you.

RichieBoy67 03-21-2007 11:47 PM

Yeah, That was what I meant but that sounded much nicer......lol

Thanks JWard..... I wish I said that... lol

How in any way was my last post taken as an insult by you Richie? I just commented on the usual behavior that occurs when a new Hack/MOD is released that still needs a little coding done to ensure that the Hack/MOD is fully functionable - everyone wants it to be immediately fixed. Too many times, despite who the one is who wants the newly created MOD, we expect 100% perfection from the coder who is giving to the rest of us their imaginitive coding, whether professional or novice, or somewhere in between. I really don't know what Ziki's reputation is with newly created & released MOD's, but he does have quite a few of them finalized, by whatever means, that all of us have downloaded and installed on our boards. Maybe I am missing something here, being just a hacker downloader and not a hacker coder, but I REALLY do appreciate what all of the hackers do with their time and effort with offering up new hacks that enhance the boards that we all offer to our customers.

Yes perhaps arcades and shops have professional install instructions but they have exploits too which mines don't.And also the popular hack FPS_EXTERNAL does not work even vbRewrite has a serious bug but nobody complains.

rickyreter 03-22-2007 02:48 PM

I personally look through each mod thread and decide if its worth all all the trouble if it is i will install and be happy.
I see with this mod it is creating too much hassle to just click in 30 secs and not working properly..the idea i guess is to release a mod that is working...not half releaseing and hopeing for the best.

Sorry just my opinion....and will not even bother installing

Ziki 03-22-2007 06:12 PM

You know people only report that it doesn't work but don't report if it works.It really works now.

Stop 03-22-2007 09:30 PM

It does work fine with me ...

But it still misses the signature template. And in one of my sections, where I disabled signatures, look where the icons showed..( first pic attached)

I suggest you add it here ( second pic attached) and to make the icons only show in the first post. We don't want members to digg some posts but the main first post..

Ziki 03-23-2007 11:54 AM

Are you sure that post had a signature?

ngocha85 03-23-2007 04:58 PM

And?

Ziki 04-09-2007 02:39 PM

I am adding new icons very soon.Be prepared

MThornback 04-09-2007 08:57 PM

I have it evaluating $post[firstnewinsert] so that it shows up right beside the date/time of the post....I think it looks alot cleaner up there :)

DannyITR 04-13-2007 12:11 AM

I'm curious...do you guys really think this hack is worth it? Visitors don't click on ads and don't register either. To me, all I'd be doing is clogging up the server for the members who actually do bring in the revenue from ad clicks. Thoughts?

Ziki 04-13-2007 10:54 AM

This is only to promote your posts on the web.

Chachacha 05-01-2007 08:27 PM

It works. Thanks.

Good idea.

Chachacha 05-01-2007 11:53 PM

Is there a way to put it in the first post only? I've moved the icons to the bottom of posts (to the left of the reply and quote buttons)...but I want it to only show up in the fist post of each thread. Is that possible?

Ziki 05-02-2007 05:06 PM

Yes but it is not on my todo list

Gee thanks.

Is there anybody with a helpful and courteous disposition that will tell me how to do this?

Celtkin 05-13-2007 11:50 AM

Is there a way to exclude the social bookmark icons from showing in certain (paid) forums?

giovannicosta 05-13-2007 12:06 PM

neoxi 09-08-2007 01:17 PM

Code:

<!-- Social Bookmarking -->
<if condition="!$GLOBALS['FIRSTPOSTID']">
$zhxthisthread
</if>
<!-- Social Bookmarking -->

Please note that this only works for manual template edits... If you want to define where/when this mod executes, you have to remove
Code:

eval('$post["signature"] .= "' . fetch_template('zh_xthisthread') . '";');
From the product's xml file and reimport. By doing this, you can manually place the above code anywhere and it'll execute where *you* want it to.

It is changed in the settings and not in the product so just change it there,that answer the second question too.

alexgeek 01-14-2008 06:20 PM

Brilliant! Thanks!!
