ok never mind. I just added the your code under "logo". Thanks. I'll go play with the images. Just 1 question. Can't I change the width? I'd like to make it 800.

syrus.xl 06-24-2007 01:02 PM

I just checked your sites source code, and received some strange errors (they only show up in Firefox Web Developer tools).

PM me the header code and I'll have a look. It's hard to tell just from the source code.

You might find it will stretch images at 800px and pixelate.

haytham 06-24-2007 02:25 PM

I just sent you the header with a question about an empty space on the right. Thanks in advance.

Greeting Indy

It was designed specifically for a 'virgin' vBulletin board with no color alterations, as most mods are. However, I'll make a black version a little later.

This is so cool!!

One question, our page background is #E4E4E4 and is very close to the color that the graphics fade to on the right hand side. Where can one adjust that color or what is the color that you have there now so we can adjust our page background to match?

Thanks!!

The background color is set within the actual flash file. It uses an alpha gradient to merge the image into the background color, this is done within a movieClip, which isn't set externally.

But I will customize it for $40 - this would include the modification being a non-branded version, resized (if required) and color HEX matched. If you're interested just PM me.

Thanks we will be getting back to you about this more, as will have several sites that will be running the vbflash header.

Another question please, one site has the forums installed in "forums" directory, we just uploaded everything and did the template edits but the images do not show, could this be because its "forums" and not "forum"? Looking but cant seem to find if there is any forum paths that can be changed.

It does vary from site to site, with various configurations - but making sure all paths are absolute rather than relative will usually solve this problem. The paths that need to be absolute are the headinclude edit and all references to the swf file, within the header template.

There is a code update coming very soon for this modification, which changes the way the swf file is embedded in to vbulletin. It will be updated once I've finished a couple of other jobs I got.

Hope that helps!:)

kylek 09-11-2007 09:43 PM

Well I cant get it to display so I will wait for the next update, thanks again.

I have released the updated version and documentation on my site, I'll be updating it on here shortly.:)

kylek 09-12-2007 12:36 AM

Well I grabbed it from the other site and there is still something weird happening, have installed it on two sites, same style, same hosting company, one works fine, the other one shows the outline of the header and your credit link - powered by vbflash headers.

Guess it must still be the "forums" directory problem. Will send a pm to you about this.

If you PM me the url, and give me temp admin access I will look at it for you. Usually, it is a path issue, if no images are showing.

I'll also need to know the directory structure of where your images are, as this can be configured differently.

I'll have to look at it later, because over here is nearly 3.00am - usual daily routine! :erm:

I found that when I put code in header,then "[Ajax] Check for similar thread before posting a new one" https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...151714&page=11 stop working.

syrus.xl 10-26-2007 11:54 PM

This modification has been updated... but not yet on here. Its available on the main website.

The problem you're having is probably related to the js call used on the other modification.

citroenar 10-27-2007 12:07 AM

Can it be fixed? or I have to remove one of them.

Nevermind, I got new version and now work fine.

Have tried also adding the full path to the XML file as well... still no joy...

What do mean specifically? A home url on the actual flash movie?

It is designed to replace the existing vBulletin logo which is left-aligned. You can easily center the flash movie by adding a new div, using the code below:
Code:

<!-- vbFlash Header Start -->
<div align="center">
<div id="vbheader">
Warning!!! To view enable JavaScript and Flash!
</div>
      <script type="text/javascript">
  var fo = new FlashObject("vbflashheader.swf", "vbheader", "800", "150", "8,0,0,0", "#e1e1e2");
  fo.addParam("quality", "high");
  fo.write("vbheader");
</script>
</div>
<!-- vbFlash Header End -->

Hope that helps.:)

thanks alot cyrus :D

vbboarder 08-17-2008 10:09 PM

This mod does not work in Firefox 2. The fix requires the Flash object to have transparent wmode.

Solution: FIND in Header template:
Quote:

fo.addParam("quality", "high");
Before that, ADD:
Quote:

fo.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
Save the edited template and the Flash Header should now show. ;)

Thanks vbboarder... I'll add this parameter. Strangely enoughly it must be one I've missed, however most people do not have DHTML menus above the header, but if they do then certain dropdowns would drop behind this flash object.

Regards.

It requires the full path to the flash file to work inside a portal. I did add the instructions how to do this earlier.

But here's what you'll need to do.

Find the following line in javascript call within the header template:
Code:

  var fo = new FlashObject("vbflashheader.swf", "vbheader", "800", "150", "8,0,0,0", "#e1e1e2");
You'll see "vbflashheader.swf" - you will need to prepend this file with the full url to the flash file, for example:
"http://www.domain.com/forums/vbflashheader.swf"

This ensures the code looks in the correct directory for the flash file. The XML file should be automatically picking up the images if you haven't changed the xheader folder name.

Hope that helps! :)

I also could not get the images to display when vbAdvanced is not at the forum root (ie: one directory above forum root). It appears that the vbflashheader script loads but cannot display the images (the powered by vbFlash Headers shows, but no images). Solution:

Since the vbflashheader.swf uses a relative path to link to the images.xml file, you need to copy the images.xml file and xheader folder to the portal directory (ie: one directory above forum root). Optional: if you don't want to move the xheader folder (but still need to move images.xml), then you'll need to change the image paths to absolute paths in images.xml. Your images should now display on the portal page :D

That middle one with the switching frames is awesome. Do you have anything how to make that or a mod for it?

That is another modification developed by us, and is free to use. You can see the latest version and download it from here.

tnagaming 01-13-2009 02:14 AM

Great mod. Love it.

One question. How do I get rid of the white transition thing thats 3 quarters accross the images when they scroll? If you don't understand what I mean you can look here www.tnagaming.org/forum/index.php

If I have to donate to get rid of it I have no problem doing that just tell me where I have to donate to, what I have to do and how much.

sean-zigster 03-11-2009 09:43 PM

does this mod work with 3.8 ?

Thanks+

The Realist 04-10-2009 02:03 PM

Does this work on 3.7.4 with a modified template.

Reason I ask is the code edits are not in my header template and then I do edit that template it works but a part of the template is then missing?

Any ideas?

Regards

syrus.xl 04-10-2009 10:08 PM

It will work with any version of vBulletin, but the header code has changed slightly since this version was released. If you PM me the url of your site I will take a look at the issue for you.

The actual flash file I coded for this no longer functions under the latest Flash when recompiled, and I need to re-code the main source file if the alpha gradient needs changing.

The Realist 04-11-2009 03:48 PM

PM sent with thanks.

Regards,

Brian
