I suppose it could be installed in any forums with a conditional. Does not have to be gars.

Hi!

this hacks is excelente!

I have a few questions:
- I set the high&wide to 600x350, but the pic attached in the thread news, with this dimensions show in the slideshow more smaller. why?
- Where i can set how many news the slide shows? I have a lot of news, but only shows 3.

Thanks in advance! and sorry for my horrible english!

Lionel 02-18-2007 04:17 PM

hi,

you need to open slideshow.php and set the width, the height and the $forumid you want to pull images from.

set the $limit for how many images in the $getnews query.

glorify 02-18-2007 06:18 PM

If your slide is in the center and it's width is lets say 550, and height hasn't changed, do you have to have the exact height and width pic to fill the box?

See here--some of the pics are wide enough, some are not. None fill the slide completely:

no.

glorify 02-18-2007 06:33 PM

OK, the image in the first story is 650X416 and it doesn't fill it. Why?

Lionel 02-18-2007 06:37 PM

this hack is not a camera, it does not redo pictures. if you have a space of 500 x 400 and you resize an image of 650 x 416 don't expect it to fill it.

glorify 02-18-2007 06:39 PM

The H and W in the php file is actually 550X280

Got it, so you have to resize all yer pics.

Hooray.

Nice hack, but i wish I would have investigated that before I downloaded/bought it. Asking every member who posts news to my site to find and resize pics will probably be an impossibility.

glorify 02-18-2007 07:00 PM

I tried to get a resized image on the first slide. H and W of the image and slideshow.php are the same, yet it still does not fill it.

I have got to be explaining incorrectly and am doing something wrong :(

glorify 02-18-2007 07:07 PM

Found the problem--you may want to mention this in the first post.

In your php file, find
Code:

$foto="<div class=\"slide\">\n<div align=\"center\" class=\"slide-inner\">\n<a href=\"/forums/showthread.php?t=".$pic['tid']."\"><img alt=\"read full article\" width=\"396\"  src=\"/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=".$pic['attach']."
Change the bolded to the width you want your pics to be.

Zorck 02-18-2007 08:57 PM

I have a lite issue,

The Slideshow only show 3 news, I set in the php file 4 forums that contain 5 news post of today, but in the slideshow only shows 3, any idea?

Yes, my site is tightly integrated with Joomla. The two breath together. And thanks to that, I can integrate any md5 based script with Vbulletin, via Joomla.

I have tons of nice integrations on my site, but I can't release them because they are dependents of various other hacks.

Thanks for your detailed reply. Please tell me, what should I need to make Joomla my home page and then integrate vBulletin with it? Just like you have done.

Do I have to install Joomla as my website's homepage and then upload some hack of Joomla?

Don't know why you are having it, it shows that you did not install.

maroceve 02-19-2007 03:29 PM

Lionel 02-19-2007 03:31 PM

Make sure that you uploaded the mod_fpslideshow folder in your clientscript folder

Lionel 02-19-2007 03:36 PM

also in the module, make sure you put a "/" (slash) in front of home

/home/maroceve/public_html/forums/clientscript/mod_fpslideshow/mod_fpslideshow.js

bada_bing 02-19-2007 07:23 PM

Quantnet 02-20-2007 02:49 AM

Awesome, Lionel

Watching closely for more developements before I replace my vba front page with this.

maroceve 02-20-2007 08:06 AM

i did set the forum id i want it to pull the pics from but it s only showing the text.

not pulling the attachments, can it be because i have HighSlide installed ?

I am really impressed the way you have turned your vbulletin into. Could you please tell me how did you do that? Thanks

Zorck 02-21-2007 12:31 AM

This mod rocks!

I have one question to finish.
There is any chance to remove the grey border of the slideshow?

You can see in my portal
http://digireflex.net/foro/portal.php

Thanks. Sergio.-

akulion 02-21-2007 09:54 AM

dang man are these people trying to rip people off or what

they are selling other peoples work which is available for FREE for 22 euros with the MINIMUM of customizations- shame on them!

http://smoothslideshow.jondesign.net/

Demo: http://smoothgallery.jondesign.net/

maroceve 02-21-2007 10:09 AM

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /modules/slideshow.php on line 257

I get this error only on a specific forum. i can't see the difference between it and the one where it works.

Download it, do it yourself and post it here. That will save people from spending the money. If you can't do it, then shut up.

akulion 02-21-2007 09:30 PM

I never claimed to be a coder,

but a common theif is a theif like these guys who took someone elses code and are selling it with a few customizations

so ur the one who should shut up really

the links i posted are released under GPL free coding - it is not meant to be sold

i wonder how joomla people would feel if someone took their software, changed a few lines and sold it on the net lol

If you are not a coder, then you don't understand code. So how do you decide that it was stolen?

FYI, the guy who made that is part of the joomla team and is very active in the joomla community.

Get your facts straight!!!

ever heard of scriptaculous and moofx?
Again, shut up!

akulion 02-21-2007 09:37 PM

yea those are free codes under GPL license my dear sir the same as joomla

meaning u cant take joomla change a few lines of codes and start selling it

same way u cant take moofx or scriptlicious and change a few lines and start selling it

do u understand?

its free for usage, not for selling

Lionel 02-21-2007 09:41 PM

OK, you don't need to cry because you cannot afford the 22 euros. Life is not all freebies.

Everyone uses moofx and others in their commercial codes. If you understood joomla, you would have understood that this hack is far more complex for the joomla end user than you could comprehend.

Fo Joomla, it's spectacular, what you can do with it.

I am only using the javascript to adapt it for vbulletin.

P.S. it's like saying you cannot sell anything that makes use of php and mysql, because those are free.

akulion 02-21-2007 09:48 PM

well its sad to see u support piracy

if the proceeds for this script were going to the ACTUAL author of the script i wouldnt mind paying 50 euros for it

but quite frankly this is just a rip off taking someone elses code and selling it

and thats what i highly dont support that someone else code gets sold on the net with the slightest of changes really

no matter how complex joomla is at the backend is their own problem - the fact remains that the functionality this slideshow provides IS NOT THE WORK OF JOOMLA OR ANY OF THEIR TEAM MEMBERS

otherwise why not just take vB change the whole software copyrights and add it to a html file and say "hey look its a mod for my html file"

ridiclous really

but either ways your work on this mod for vB is original and is outstanding and hats off to that (but not to the slideshow itself)- i dont intend to fight with u really, i guess we both got heated over nothing really. Peace

Lionel 02-21-2007 09:51 PM

BTW, why do you have "coder" in your title and you claimed that you are not?

Have you seen the code? You just stated you did not buy it.

Equally ridiculous to assert and accuse someone for something that you never saw.

The full hack that is being sold adds tremendous options to Joomla and is original, just like my mod. If you read again, you will see that all I did was using the javascript (part of which was coded by Fotis) and said to disregard the rest. So why bashing the guy's work when you don't even know what entailed into it?
