Why not? I think it's a great feature request. Seconded by me (I already asked for it above). A local version that supports custom categories would be awesome - and worth paying for.

Not right now. However, we would love to expand to other languages. It all depends on how successful this system is. If lots of people install it and lots of other language boards want it, then we'll naturally add additional languages. For purposes of development efficiency, we couldn't add multi-language suport from the start though.

As for those of you requesting a local variant, I respect and understand that desire. However, that's not what Zoints is about. Our vision is to bring communities together in a mutually beneficial manner. As can be seen by the traffic people are already getting from this modification, that is happening. And that doesn't take into account the long term SEO benefits people who get threads to the front page will receive. Point being, we do not plan a local variant.

With that said, every forum has their own personal category and members can choose to only show threads from your forum if they so desire. The options on this are pretty powerful and allow all kinds of configuration.

As traffic grows, we'll definitely look into expanding categories and the customization options. We need to keep the category options narrow right now to avoid dilution.

Not at this time. But as that would obviously send more traffic to forums, we're certainly open to the idea of making it happen :) That's the beauty of a distributed system like this. Thanks for the suggestion!

Feature Request:

When deleting a submission would it be possible to leave a reason for the deletion via PM to the person who submit the thread?

I have a question though, regarding all Zoints products. This may have been answered here, or on your site.. but I've had a hard time finding it.

I have to register my forum with zoints.com (which I already have done).. I'm wondering what happens now. If I install a Zoints product, do my members get posted onto zoints.com? I would really like to avoid doing that. I personally just don't like the idea.

I guess what my question really is.. Why register the forum with Zoints? And what happens once registered..

Yes, better communication like that is needed. Including a means to track who did what.

No, your members do not get posted on Zoints.com. The reason for the registration is mods like Synergy require a unique token and authentication key. Because of the data transfer, we have to know who is sending what and ensure it is done in a secure manner (for obvious reasons). The only way to do that is assign a unique authentication key and token during signup. Our mods that don't require secure data transmission don't require any signup.

That could probably become a subsection of society once traffic levels warrant it.

Forum home display not updating?

I have installed Synergy (great mod, btw) and it seems to be running well, except for the following :-

a) I have turned off Health and Science in the options but the item that appears in the Forum Home listing shows the top thread which is a Health and Science thread "Theoretical Physicists Develop test for String Theory"

b) Forum Home list appears to be based on Most Popular. Is there a way to change it to Newest?

c) Forum display by Most Popular doesn't seem to sort properly.

Do you mean vote wise?

"Most Popular" doesn't necessarily mean "most votes". Votes are an extremely important aspect of determining which are most popular, but the algorithm takes a lot of variables into account. If most popular was most votes, then 3-4 threads would always be stuck on top.

Please make sure you downloaded the correct vBulletin version for the mod then reinstall everything. Be sure that all files are uploaded and you import the product (select yes to overwrite).

Why not let the admins create their own categories for example I can just put the forums at categories and let my members see it that way and others see threads the regular way so in all 2 categories you choose, one for your forum and one for the network..

Only the forum members will see what threads are from what forums(categories of the forum)

yea i already checked that i think because i'm hosting my board on windows server some how it's in the script not working well with windows.:( can you confirm it i may have to uninstall it.:eek:

One of my mods has reported seeing this when she loads a page anywhere on the forum. She said if she refreshes, it goes away.

Do you know what browser and version she's using?

I see the forum but no threads in it, did you remove them? What browser are you using?

i use Fire Fox i just have it disabled for now. but never looked into IE not a fan but will look at it later.:)

edit: everything appears to be fine in IE not to sure unlike FF after clickin in two post and that's when that long script appears.Is this mod ok for FF can you confirm?

I installed and removed the mod. At present is not doing anymore than Digg and with digg I do not have to share my members with other forums. The mod seems to be listing for the most part the same threads from other forums on a daily basis.

There did not appear to be any turn over in terms of members, I do not think I even noticed traffic spikes as some people claim. Good try none the less, the concept sounded nice, but I think in this case since all the boards are sharing their members then they should all have the same amount of time on the front page.

I have installed it and it all works fine apart from the submitted threads, dont go anywhere.

I can use the 'Z' in the drop down to get it in the queue, but they just sit there forever?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I know I'm not going to click through to read a story about credit repair or something along those lines. When you use the Z, are they in the moderation queue or the approved queue? Using the threadtools dropdown sends them direct to the approved queue.
