To tell you the truth it should work with 3.5, you can try it out when I get the fix out and you can let me know since this is coded the same as my glossary hack for 3.6 which did work on 3.5, don't know if it still does tho lol. However if it does or dosn't there isn't any plans right now to support it.

Cedric_FP 02-23-2007 07:24 AM

Definitely very interested! Keep up the good work :)

ChrisSy 03-06-2007 07:15 PM

What is the status of this hack?

SS9267547 03-07-2007 01:24 AM

Still working on the developer/publisher section. Once that is done I'll release the next beta version.

o0Hubba0o 03-24-2007 06:35 PM

I'm going to click the install button on this one to keep up on the updates. I have a gaming site that's pretty dead and we're looking for things to liven it up, so I'll be keeping on this one.

But I get an idea of features and stuff, but what "exactly" is this, it says "gaming system" in the post but that's pretty vague to me (I can be pretty slow at times heh). Can I get a bit more detailed explanation than gaming system please. Thanks.

Necrosaro420 03-24-2007 11:18 PM

Is there going to be anyway to set it up so that user's can have their own sections? I actually run a Nintendo (8 bit) site, and it would be awesome if there was a way Users could have their own section to post their collections etc.

ngocha85 03-29-2007 08:18 AM

Any Update?

Wow this is nice. I will try to get testing it on my Test server. Sorry dont mean to get off post topic but are you still supporting your other mods?

Hornstar 04-02-2007 12:15 PM

Just letting you know that ive also been watching the progress on this, hoping that your still working on it, as ill be be very keen to get my hands on this as it improves more.

SS9267547 04-05-2007 12:22 PM

o0Hubba0o: It?s pretty well a content management system for a gaming site, for example like gamespot. That?s pretty it lol. Could go into details if you want later.

Necrosaro420: There will be at a later date a new option that will give users a collection section so for example you have all Nintendo classic games listed. Now when a user visits the game page they can click an option that would add the game to their game collection, or game they are playing right now, want to get, etc.

ngocha85: I was in the middle of redoing the developer/publisher section as just a 'company' section of the site when I got off track with playing games about a month ago lol. This is what I'm working on right now.

rjmjr69: Yes and no, I just haven?t had much time to work on things. In the next month I'll see if I can get back on track, but don't hold your breath on a speedy release/updates.

hornstar1337: Yes still on it, not as much as I'd like to busy still on it. ;)

SS9267547 05-21-2007 04:08 PM

Been to long since I've had some free time, but hey finally a release! Anyway in this release I worked mainly on changing over the publisher/developer system to a combined new system called 'companies' where both publisher/developer are now listed. Both admin and user side have been completed, take a look at the screenshots for an idea of how it all works. Screenshots with highlighted section show what are new from the previous version. Also the starter database has been completed with 358 companies with ready to go information including description, locations, logos, etc. New companies will be added in later releases.

Quick Change Log For Version 1.0.0 Beta 3
  • 63 new phrases.
  • 8 new templates.
  • 2 new files.
  • Updated starter database for companies.
  • Removed publisher/developer section, moved to companies.
  • Added mass administration options (delete/move) for companies.
  • Database updates, code changes, etc.
  • Created user side pages.
Here's a screenshot of what you'll see this release:

SMO 05-21-2007 09:43 PM

wow, really looking forward to this rls man....thx for updating us

Luky 05-22-2007 06:55 AM

Safe for live website yet?

SS9267547 05-22-2007 11:29 AM

It will work just fine however there are still changes that I will be doing to the games database so I would still wait. There is also the fact that the review section isn't done so you'll only have a games database.

Per-Aa 05-22-2007 11:33 AM

hey, just stumped over this

nice project - i look forward to add it to my MMO site - will be grand

where do you get the games and developers list from btw ?

SS9267547 05-22-2007 11:47 AM

When you unzip the file, the ready to use lists that I've created are under the /do_not_upload/xml_settings/ directory. From there you can choose which settings to upload to your system. For example the ‘companies_xml’ directory will have all the developers and publishers. If there are images, don't forget to upload that directory to your image directory. As for the games database, there is none at this time since that section is not ready just yet. But in the future once its ready I will have available a possible database for each platform.

Per-Aa 05-22-2007 12:36 PM

ha, i actually meant where do YOU look them up to add to that list :)

btw i run into some problem - seems that all is ok but when i try to get the game list http://www.mmorpger.pl/vb/games.php the games are not liste (although when i go to the publisher/company info it lists the game and allows to view it):

http://www.mmorpger.pl/vb/companies....iewcompany&c=1

http://www.mmorpger.pl/vb/games.php?...mes&p=2&game=1

is just not implemented yet or do i do something wrong ?

SS9267547 05-22-2007 01:05 PM

Haha, got it ;) Well quite a bit of the info is from my site that I ran and collected way back in the day. If you’re looking for some sites for that kind of info, you could take a look at the big boys like ign or gamespot. As for the game list, it displays the directories first, you have to then click on one to view the complete list, for example clicking on ‘windows’ will display all the windows games. The current layout is a temp tho, will look more like the companies section. Took a look and seems to be working correctly.

Per-Aa 05-22-2007 01:18 PM

stupid me - just figured it out when my DB replicated itself onto the test environment - yes, i see it working fine now -

maybe sdditionally to a list like on the companies something like sections "Upcoming Releases" first with a list of 5-10 titles which are closest to release date (one line per game - including release date) and below that a list of "Recently Released" one line with game name and release date ?

would need a date check on the server date sets only i think tho not sure

Edit: yes, a list lijke you said is on the companies would not force you to create a separate field for game features - i suppose the description field is enough to put the features in but they cannot display under the name of the game then

Also the games list lacks the option to list all (you can list alphabetically but not return to the "all" listing for the category) - from a Customer Perspective a little confusing as you have to get back to the games, click the platform and then look through it

otherwise again - very neat thing and if ya need some help (hosting, other crap etc) just give a shout :)

You wont release upgrade scripts that will make it easy to get the new updates?

SS9267547 05-23-2007 12:02 AM

Per-Aa: I did have an idea of adding 'Upcoming Releases' under 'Recent Games' for sure. But that will come later once I get the game pages ready. With the games layout, you are correct it needs work and it will be worked on. It will be just like the companies page so it will have list 'all' feature. As for help, could always use it lol. For right now the biggest thing I need is people to post their ideas, comments, etc.

Luky: Yes and no, its just till the 1st stable version is released. The current releases are just to play around with so I can get feedback and ideas from all of you as well to save time on. I really don't have the time to do updates on the beta which could change quite a bit before I decide on a standard. To be honest there would very well be about 8-12 beta release before the 1st stable release. Thats why I this is just a beta and not to use on a live site. But one day it will have updates. :)

Hornstar 05-30-2007 09:19 AM

awesome to see you still working on it. look forward to a stable release in the future, until then, ill keep tracking its progress, and offer ideas, sugestions etc. keep up the good work.

With that and a little more in depth reading and the latest screenshots (and pulling my head out of my a**) I see now what it is lol. Still keeping an eye on it because we just started making updates to our site so I'm looking forward to a stable release. I'm not always the most patient so I might not even wait that long lol.

compact123 06-12-2007 10:02 PM

very nice, thanks

SS9267547 06-15-2007 11:54 PM

This release only has changes on the admin side of things. All settings have sort options, page nav options and mass administration options added. In the next release I will be working on the games section of things, will be doing a new display as well additional options to it. Also if the review system is working I might have this released as well. After these two sections are working (about 2-5 more beta releases) and if no major issues come up I think we’ll be good to release the first stable version.

Quick Change Log For Version 1.0.0 Beta 4
  • Added mass administration options (delete) for all settings.
  • Added page nav options for all settings.
  • Added sort options for all settings.

The Bouncer 611 06-18-2007 09:41 PM

I notice with this hack I cant use BB codes even with them enabled.Also when your scrolling through some pages dont display.

SS9267547 06-18-2007 09:46 PM

Could you give me some examples of where these issues are?

The Bouncer 611 06-19-2007 06:51 AM

Thanks for responding so fast and hes a picture of the problem im having. I tried to use the bb codes in the game description but with no luck. In the same area html also wont work.

Bravo 06-19-2007 07:17 AM

Hey, SS9267547

I'm one of "The Bouncer 611" friends and he told me about the problems he was having, and I fixed them all.

I've included the updated game.php

aswell as the code I changed to make it work:

To fix the per page display, smilies, BBCODE, HTML and IMAGE code, open "game.php" and:
===================FIND=============
Code:

$perpage = $vbulletin->options['vbgamesperpage'];
$vbghtml = $vbulletin->options['vbgames_enable_html_code'];
$vbgsmiles = $vbulletin->options[vbgames_enable_smilies'];
$vbgbbcode = $vbulletin->options['vbgames_enable_bbcode'];
$vbgimgcode = $vbulletin->options['vbgames_enable_img_code'];

and Replace with this

Code:

$perpage = $vbulletin->options['mindesticgcms_perpage'];
$vbghtml = $vbulletin->options['mindesticgcms_enable_html_code'];
$vbgsmiles = $vbulletin->options['mindesticgcms_enable_smilies'];
$vbgbbcode = $vbulletin->options['mindesticgcms_enable_bbcode'];
$vbgimgcode = $vbulletin->options['mindesticgcms_enable_img_code'];

And to fix the PAGE Error that gives you a Blank page when you click to go to another page:
===================FIND=============
Code:

        $pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $totalgames, 'games.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . 'do=listgames', '&c='. $db->escape_string($p) .''
                . (!empty($vbulletin->GPC['perpage']) ? "&pp=$perpage" : "")
                . (!empty($ltr) ? "&ltr=$ltr" : "")
        );

and Replace with this:

Code:

        $pagenav = construct_page_nav($pagenumber, $perpage, $totalgames, 'games.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . 'do=listgames', '&p='. $db->escape_string($p) .''
                . (!empty($vbulletin->GPC['perpage']) ? "&pp=$perpage" : "")
                . (!empty($ltr) ? "&ltr=$ltr" : "")
        );

The updated game.php is also included if you wish to just download a working copy

BTW: can you make it that in the game list everything is minimize, and only expands with the game details if someone click on the game name?
and a collapse button to re-minimize the game?

SS9267547 06-19-2007 10:44 AM

Thanks guys for the info, right now I'm reworking the games listing and the game pages which will be a little different then the current version. The changes will be done in the next release as well a few more features/info within the game pages. As for the minimized option, yes it is possiable however the current game list style will be replaced with something I think will work much better, heres a quick screenshot of how it will look, so what your playing with right now will be no more.

Bravo 06-19-2007 12:34 PM

Ahh I think that is going to work way better :)

If you need someone to beta test or anything let me or The Bouncer 611 know.

We have a site all about gaming, and wouldnt mind testing.

SS9267547 06-19-2007 12:58 PM

Well for now just keep your eye open here in the thread since at this time the releases are public betas for testing, so I would like feeback, comments, etc. The releases are going to be picking up in the next two months with set release dates since I'm getting some extra free time. Next release is planned June 25, 2007.

Bravo 06-19-2007 10:24 PM

Sweet. I'll be waiting :)

ngocha85 06-21-2007 03:21 AM

Thanks. I'll be waiting, too.

LightScribe 06-23-2007 04:55 AM

This is a really good idea. Will this come with data pre-defined or will the admins need to enter it in themselves?

SS9267547 06-23-2007 09:18 AM

At this time the only pre-defefined data that it will come with is all the settings, so esrb rating, developers, platforms, etc. With each release if there is updated information all you'll need to do is upload the xml files within the system. Data on games is something I would like to do as well however the amount of data for this could be to large to use the current import/export system in place.

Luky 06-23-2007 02:09 PM

I want it to be made admins enter themself. I dislike the whole idea of every gaming forum having this with the same data. Also you donot deserve the traffic this may get you if you dont put work into it. And dont say installing is work, i hardly find uploading a few things and changing others is hard work.

SS9267547 06-24-2007 02:04 AM

Well right now all that will be included is general settings information, just to get people started. Every site pretty well has the same general info like esrb rating, developers, etc. so it will save a few hours of work there. Why have people type in the same information when it just has to be done once. The same goes for game info since thats all the same, date released, developer, publisher, etc. However that is allot of work, I'm not sure it will be ever included just because of that unless it becomes a community effort. Now beyond that, reviews, screenshots, previews, news, etc thats all up to the admins and that is going to be what will really brings traffic is it not? Just my thought on that but I do like to hear what others think on the issue.

Luky 06-24-2007 03:15 AM

Why? Because it isnt fair one bit to have two forums right. One forum has 10,000 posts, the second has 20,000 posts. The one with 10,000 posts just ran his forum and does jack all but take credit for others work. The one with 20,000 posts works very hard and spends alot of money and gets no money out of it, he does his best. They both install this, person A feels he could install this since he is lazy, therfor, he will become as popular as person B! Its really not fair to let others just install something and its all done.

What im trying to say is two things. One, why should you spoon feed lazy people? This should be something they have to work for, or else EVERY gaming forum will have it then it will be total crap. Two, if you put in the info, everyone will have the same info! If you dont put in the info, then certain forums will have less then the rest and other forums will have more.

If you input the info and feed it to us, your mod will look like crap and noone will use it after a few months.

gsm4arab1 06-24-2007 03:39 AM

Excellent Mods. Thanks (SS9267547)
