Ziki 02-17-2007 08:46 PM

Please post the errors so I can fix them.

da420 02-18-2007 01:33 AM

Here are the errors I get.

http://validator.w3.org

Quote:

# Error Line 18 column 39: there is no attribute "value".

<meta name="no-email-collection" value="www.unspam.com/noemailcollection" />

You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).

This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for further information.

How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute, (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the <embed> element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the FAQ item on valid flash.

# Error Line 18 column 75: required attribute "content" not specified.

...value="www.unspam.com/noemailcollection" />

The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element.

Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>.

# Error Line 25 column 17: there is no attribute "HTTP-EQUIV".

<META HTTP-EQUIV="CACHE-CONTROL" CONTENT="NO-CACHE" />

# Error Line 25 column 41: there is no attribute "CONTENT".

<META HTTP-EQUIV="CACHE-CONTROL" CONTENT="NO-CACHE" />

# Error Line 25 column 53: element "META" undefined.

<META HTTP-EQUIV="CACHE-CONTROL" CONTENT="NO-CACHE" />

You have used the element named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not define an element of that name. This error is often caused by:

* incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Frameset" document type to get the "<frameset>" element),
* by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "<spacer>" or "<marquee>" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).
* by using upper-case tags in XHTML (in XHTML attributes and elements must be all lower-case.

# Error Line 26 column 46: element "META" undefined.

<META HTTP-EQUIV="PRAGMA" CONTENT="NO-CACHE" /

Ziki 02-18-2007 01:10 PM

You can remove those lines from the zh_meta template but this doesn't show up for me though

project-Buckfas 02-18-2007 02:02 PM

Will this interfere in any way with Zoints SEO?

If not I will install

Ziki 02-18-2007 04:54 PM

No of course it won't

imranbaig 02-25-2007 05:35 AM

nice one clicked Install.

rjmjr69 02-25-2007 05:46 AM

I love your work but you really should post some directions as how to use this hack. Or even just a list of optimum settings would be nice.

BarryoBrien 02-25-2007 05:26 PM

your site only has a mete tag rate of 66% which is the same as the vb meta tags you also use vbseo on your site which is the only reason that your site has a rank of 2 does this realy work?

project-Buckfas 02-25-2007 06:59 PM

Installed, thanks

chkdgate 03-02-2007 05:35 PM

Has anyone tried it with 3.6.5 yet?

Ziki 03-03-2007 06:38 PM

Ziki 03-07-2007 12:26 PM

and compatible with zoints seo

great job !!!

dbirosel 03-12-2007 04:59 PM

confused. if i use this hack, does this mean that when the public gets on a search engine and search something about my site, it will give my site the higher chance of being shown to the top? So basically, this hack increases the chances of your board becoming more known?

Ziki 03-12-2007 05:47 PM

It is not guaranteed but yes

Ziki 03-17-2007 09:03 AM

1.0.4 released

It was brought to my attention that there were about 4 XHTML errors.Everything is fixed now for sure.The option unspam was removed and replaced by generator.

dj_melayu 04-26-2007 12:30 AM

The description for this add-on is incorrect. Most of those added tags do nothing but add bulk to your page. They are most certainly NOT going to improve SEO.

Hardly. Most are totally ignored by search engines.

This is an incorrect interpretation of the tag.

The optimal settings from an SEO standpoint would be "uninstalled".

No. Not at all.

No. That is not true.

Ziki 04-30-2007 02:45 PM

If you think

djbaxter 04-30-2007 02:51 PM

No, seriously. If you want to insert all these meta tags, it's fine with me. Just don't think it's going to do a darn thing for SEO.

Ziki 05-02-2007 05:10 PM

To understand SEO you need to understand that Google does not equal SEO

To understand SEO, you need to understand that NONE of the search engines pay any attention to the meta tags added by your mod.

SNaReX 05-03-2007 07:21 AM

hi i already have vbseo installed shall i go ahead with this also

Ziki 05-03-2007 10:32 AM

@SNaReX: Yes it does not matter if vBSEO is installed.
@djbaxter: Indeed some do

I'm not employed by them either, but I've already told you that these tags are not going to help any forum with SEO and I can tell you that when I start optimizing someone's site one of the very first things I do I delte most of the crap tags this mod adds in.

And if you're promoting this mod as "good for SEO", shouldn't you take the time to find out if there's any validity at all to such a statement?
