Found it! thanks Adrian.

John1uk 10-12-2006 09:37 PM

Adrian....is there anway i can centre the image and text...please click here and you will see what i mean. http://www.motormeet.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=63

the image is a lot smaller and the text shoves to the side with the image, i think it would look better if image and text could move over a little.

E' possibile avere pi? pubblicit??

It would be nice to not display a red X if I don't specify an image.

Wow this is a great mod.. Tried to install it on my vb 3.5.3 site and got a database error when trying to install the plugin so I just exited out hope it didnt add anything to my database... Any chance on making this work for all the 3.5.x users

This is the error generated.. Seeing this did I damage my database? and if so how do I revert what was just entered? SIte seems to work fine

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.3:

Excellent and simple hack, much appreciated. Installed without any problem on 3.6.2

I would however love a small addition or two:
  1. The ability to open the links in a new window
  2. A stats collection to count how many times it was clicked (i know that is a bit more work)
  3. The ability to set more than one image and therefore more than one link or the ability to random select from a few sponsors that you set up in the same way you do now.
  4. A choice of text alignment for the image, title and description e.g. left,right centre

But this in itself is an excellent starting point.

I also agree with the request to be able to pu a sponsor over an individual thread, e.g. Maybe an article was donated and you wish to promote the person who provided the copy. This too would be an awesone addition

I haven't had a chance to test this out yet, but basing on what you said and the screenshot, can't you add target="_blank" into your a href?

No the field does not accept this html in it. In fact anything I tried by means of code in the link field disables that from working. So this is not a solution

Mr Pink 10-18-2006 02:52 PM

Great mod. Maybe I will use it. Thanks. :)

xb4b1x 10-24-2006 07:15 PM

This is a really nice mod thanks bro!

archaosus 11-03-2006 08:35 AM

Easy to install even with a cold - top work, this will be a great addition to my competition subforums in order to hook a sponsor.

Still no word on having this slight modification as an option for the banner links e.g. main window or new window?

This html options one would normally use are not permitted to be used in the url fields for this hack. I would imagine most people using this hack would ish the banner links to open in new windows rather than the parent one. Please dude can you make this small addition :)

Thanks for that and we hope to get an update of your great starting point soon :)

Additionally I, like many others have also used the TAG mod/hack. This is great for grouping items into use friendly areas. Unfortunatley your hack doesn't recognise this area as yet, e.g. the results page for a certain tag (see this as an example http://www.physiobob.com/forum/tags/...tag=/sciatica/

It would be awesome if we could add a sponsor in some way to each tag that we create? Perhaps by offering a default one and also by overwriting that with a specific one.

Does anyone else think this would be an excellent addition? I'd make it myself if only I knew how :)

jaks 11-09-2006 05:03 PM

John1uk,
It's in the Forum & Moderator==>Forum Manager==> Pick a forum to edit and the new fields are there near the bottom.

Thanks Adrian, very handy mod. :) Clicks Install

If you want to add the target="_blank" and title="Sponsor name" to the text link and alt="Sponsor name" to the linking image. Modify the template edit you did in the forumdisplay template. This bypasses the fields.

Find:
Code:

<tr>
        <td width="10" rowspan="2" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]"><img src="$foruminfo[sponsorimage]" alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname] Image" border="0"></a></div></td>
        <td valign="top"><div align="left"><strong><a href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]">$foruminfo[sponsorname]</a></strong></div></td>
      </tr>

Replace with:
Code:

<tr>
        <td width="10" rowspan="2" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a target="_blank" href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]"><img alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname]" src="$foruminfo[sponsorimage]" alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname] Image" border="0"></a></div></td>
        <td valign="top"><div align="left"><strong><a target="_blank" title="$foruminfo[sponsorname]" href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]">$foruminfo[sponsorname]</a></strong></div></td>
      </tr>

For a demo to prove it works go here http://www.trulyunusual.com/wards/forumdisplay.php?f=17

Enjoy
Jaks

perfphysio 11-09-2006 08:05 PM

but i only post an image for the whole sponsor section and therefore include my text on the actual image. Therefore there is no sponsor title etc as i don't want anything to appear which would split the field into text and image. so i need the image link to open in a new window when the image is clicked on

Dude... :ninja:

PHP Code:

<tr>
        <
td width="10" rowspan="2" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]"  target="_blank"><img src="$foruminfo[sponsorimage]alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname] Image" border="0"></a></div></td>
        <
td valign="top"><div align="left"><strong><a href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]target="_blank">$foruminfo[sponsorname]</a></strong></div></td>
      </
tr

You see the target="_blank" added?

Anytime you see <a href="whatever"> you can add target="_blank" before the closing > to make a link open in a new window. In this case You click the image and it will open a new window with the url you entered for the sponsor's link in the admincp.

No your database was not damaged. It simply tried to create new fields in your database but failed because the field "executionoder" does not exist in vb3.5x.

So basically it stopped and didn't execute the sql query so nothing happened.

carlgale 11-09-2006 09:51 PM

hi

i have added the code as instructed to the right file and i get no option at all to add sponsored banner, have checked everywhere and its not there

how come it doesnt seem to work for me?

jaks 11-10-2006 05:47 PM

cargale,
Check this post
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....8&postcount=59

If it not there then you didn't import the product would be my guess or you made the edit in the wrong place or not at all. It's a pretty straightforward mod so those are the only 2 possiblilties.

The only problem I had was with a secondary style because it wasn't a selectable style. I just made it selectable and it worked then changed it back.

TVNettet 11-12-2006 09:15 AM

Would be good if this supported Google ad sense...

BigJimTheLug 11-12-2006 09:43 PM

Hello,

I've installed everything and I don't have any display.

What else am I suppose to do After the code is installed?

Thanks.

jaks 11-14-2006 07:13 AM

Goto Forum & Moderator==>Forum Manager==> Pick a forum to edit and find the new fields near the bottom. make sure to turn it on with the radio button just above those new fields.

twobob 11-18-2006 07:32 PM

Hiya ... um, couldn't see the screenshots. Are they there? Anyone got some? Thanks, twobob

TheBlackPoet 11-18-2006 07:58 PM

this is a nice hack.. honestly, i had another one installed.. but this one is more simple and to the point.... so i installed this one..

mlotziii 12-07-2006 02:12 AM

Can't tell you how much I love this add-on! Great Work!

I wish it had an option to add a block of code incase you didn't want to have a seperate line for image and url.

ansuk 12-14-2006 02:55 PM

This is the first mod ive installed on my 3.6.4 and it is amazing, thank you so much :)

One thing i cant figure out though is how to center the image, here is my code
Quote:

<if condition="$foruminfo['sponsorenabled'] == 1">
<table width="100%" class="tborder" border="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="alt1"><table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="5">
<tr>
<td width="10" rowspan="2" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a target="_blank" href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]"><img alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname]" src="$foruminfo[sponsorimage]" alt="$foruminfo[sponsorname] Image" border="0"></a></div></td>
<td valign="top"><div align="left"><strong><a target="_blank" title="$foruminfo[sponsorname]" href="$foruminfo[sponsorlink]">$foruminfo[sponsorname]</a></strong></div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="top"><div align="left">$foruminfo[sponsordescription]</div></td>
</tr>
</table></td>
</tr>
</table>
<br>
</if>
Other than that its perfect :banana:

Domenico 12-19-2006 12:24 PM

Ok but how can we display this message/banner also in the threads from the same forum?

TMAC 12-20-2006 01:13 AM

I have this installed and everything checked and filled out but I can't see it. OIs this compatable with 3.6.4

Thank You

sjim 12-20-2006 07:23 PM
