SBlueman: since the mod is a "simple" VB mod, you can if you want wrap the part where it shows the tag box and hide it for non mods (or other usergroups). That way, these users wont see the box and wont be able to fill it.
If there is a demand for this feature by more people, we can add it to the next version.

The new version for vb3.6.7 now has this feature. Also added ability to disallow tagging in specific forums.

Also this - tag clouds can now be cached locally in your db and refreshed using the scheduled tasks function.

v2.1.1 uploaded - contains a minor fix to the font-size setting in the tags css file (tags_default.css) so to upgrade you only need to upload that file.

I am still waiting for BoardTracker to track my new vBulletin site. It's still bringing up links from my old phpBB site when people click on tags....

Its updated now although will take a few days to reindex all threads on the new board.

So, I currently have zoints thread tags installed, and I would like to install this. Is there a way to import current tags from the zoints hack into this? So that way I dont have to retag all the threads.

I dont know of any existing import script but its probably not too difficult to import them. We'll look into it.

We're currently spidering and indexing boards for the new version to be launched soon so you may already see our spider in your server logs. If not then it will be added soon after launch.

We are working on not only a brand free version, but one that will also make you money. Not sure when exactly it will be ready but not too long I hope.

I am also interested in an import script. If one could be provided, I would probably switch over to Boardtracker rather than using Zoints on both forums.

New version just uploaded - found a small error in the cloud caching script (bt_cloud.php) so to upgrade just upload that file again to the /includes/cron directory. No other changes in this version so the installer doesn't need to be run.

I have installed this and it works marvelously for me .... except one major bummer ...


I am the only one to see the the input field where to enter tags ...

I thought since i see it everything works.
Not ... none of my users could see the tag entry fields and I had the setting to mandatory and then went on a 4 day holiday.

So noone could post a thread since I demanded tags to be entered but they had nowhere to enter them .....

Just uploaded a new version which fixes a bug affecting tagging in forums which are listed as excluded in the admin panel. It should fix the problem you have.

We're soon to release a new version of BT so your board will be added to that.

Well I'm a coder and it's for a forum for my business site. So what I'd really like to do is remove the branding and then rewrite bits of it to suit myself. It's save me coding it myself, basically. I'd be ideal for any other site, I looked at the other tagging modifications and this one looks the best to me. :)

As we said, the option will be branding free.
IN addition, you can recode/change parts of the mod as you like as well as modify the way the results are rendered.

Just saw this. I have Zoints tag system installed and want to know what the differences are overall, aside your mod having the search function.

Indeed it seems that you guys are taking an awful long time migrating to the new hardware and accepting new applications. I do know first-hand how much of nightmare it can be to tackle such a grandiose task, but is there any chance at all of an update regarding your current progress?

I've been haulting the launch of a forum I'm working on for this very system, as I know how users work - and It'll be much easier to bully them into using tags from the start rather than introducing them at a later date. I've been considering reverting my template modifications and using the Zoids tagging system - but I'll try and hold out on that little temptation as long as possible.

I decided to uninstall. Not worth it until they are up and running properly. I will use Zoints.

The new boardtracker is progressing - main delay at the moment is simply spidering and indexing such a huge amount of data.. if we spider too fast it adds load to boards so we dont want to do that and if we spider too slow everyone gets impatient ;)

For anyone using the bt search mod who wants to try the new system, you can do that now.. but bear in mind it should be considered BETA and not all data on your board will be indexed or up to date and not all boards submitted are yet included although at least twice as many boards are now in the new system and more will be added soon.

The way to try it is simply to edit the bt search results template and replace this..

There are some additional changes you can make which enable access to many more search features however they will be announced later.

This has only been tested on boards in the search mod, not this tags mod but it uses the same search api so should work - if you have any problems let me know and again I must stress that this is beta and so there *might* be problems (hopefully nothing more than simply partial coverage) but these will be fixed and coverage is increasing daily - currently we index many millions of posts every day.

Regarding my previous post - this has now been tested with the tags mod and it does work so if you want to try using BT v2 tag search on your board then just change the url in the tag search results template as mentioned above.

Yes.
Tags become just another field, like the title of a post.
It can be then edited easily.

How long does it take for my board ID ??

Installed and waiting but nothing showing as yet, registered on boardtracker and gave details of my board but waiting to see if it starts to fill up. I can see in the DB tag words being populated but nothing as yet showing.
