The people who will see a rating of one star and walk away are probably the same ones who will have troubles installing it and rate it 1*...
Hmm... Good point! :)

I don’t look at the ratings myself.

All I see in a thread/hack is:
1) Title

/me thinks is it worth looking at ....

2) vB Version

/me clicks title

After that I read all about the hack and what it has to offer.

3) Scan through the posts for problems and fixes.

I base a hacks worth to the problems I will have to do what I need, not by what someone thinks of it. I could care less if "Joe Blow / Jane Doe" dosen't like something.

I'm not sure if my 'compromise' suggestion was overlooked...

On normal forumdisplay rated threads have 5 stars and it says "x votes, y average" so you have an idea if it's one person with a grudge/happy pill, or a set of people. These are present on the forumdisplay for the mods too.
A problem is you have to mouseover the stars so most people won't realise, and will likely have forgotten by the time they've loaded the thread.

If you look at the mod thread itself, the same tooltip is on the thread rating dropdown. The problem there is some descriptions are so long it can take a while to find, and again you might forget.
It would be useful if it was easier to figure out how many have voted without having to search around. The box that contains the stars has room for a class="smallfont" (x voters) line underneath.

It won't solve the problem of very few people using the ratings but at least it will be easier to judge how accurate they are.

I say it needs to stay because everyone has his right to say what he wants. And calling those people "idiots" in your 1st post Psion just because everyone thinks different than you was just non-approporiate

That is not why I called them idiots (and "everyone thinks different thank you" is derived from air). Make an effort to read and understand what I wrote... Thank you in advance.

Still it is their decission that they vote and I am staying by what I said.

It would be better when people who installed the hack can only vote

Kirk Y 08-28-2006 07:45 PM

What if someone disliked the Hack and didn't want to Install it -- how would they give it a 1 Star. Odds are, people that have bothered to install a hack aren't going to rate it a 1.

Ziki 08-28-2006 07:50 PM

Ok.Hack rating won't be removed. It is their decission how they rate it.End of story

Since when are you a staff member? Staff members said it but doesn't mean you can repeat it...

Ziki 08-28-2006 08:21 PM

You not agreeing doesn't mean it will be that way. But the way you say ("bababa it will be that way bababa end of story") it sugggets that your word is final regardless of the staff members (who, in this case, are on your side, but that's not the point) :)

Paul M 08-28-2006 11:11 PM

I think that's enough.

There are no plans to change this. Nothing more to say really.
